  • Is Pangeo still going to happen or is it cancelled? Because it looked really cool!

I'm entering univ soon, for comp-sci or electrical engineering; when I have more experience and confidence under my belt I definitely intend to message the group and bring up the subject of having another go, if someone doesn't until then. I know other members have since gotten more experience and degrees as well. I think we also know more or less what went poorly and what went well last time

So it isn't cancelled then? Great! I hope it does eventually get made some day, i look forward to it.

The previous pangeo is currently canceled; but if we do get back into business we'll definitely notify you
Update: basic pathfinding added! Will find the shortest path to the center, from anywhere on the map.

Having recently finished my military service, I finally have time to get back into gamedev! First steps of a path-finding project:

Am curious as to your tools of choice? I may be taking a step up someday.

The image in this post uses Monogame, which is the same thing games such as Terraria and Stardew Valley use. It's basically as minimalist an engine as you can get - you quite literally code everything, no interface like in Unity and other stuff.

More fun to code, but harder to get good at it, since there are no tools like in unity - you need to code everything, from the buttons to the collisions, which means there's a lot of stuff you need to learn that aren't necessarily related to gamedev.

My newest post (mathmagician) uses Unity.
    Quick! Fruitcake, or donut?

Recently began playing D&D with friends. Not yet sure if I like it or not

my entire childhood was built on the lie that i am :red: at fps... turns out i'm only :red:ty at console gaming. since i finally realized that i'm not half-bad at fps i've been trying to broaden my experience and slowly expand to playing more fps-oriented games (i've been avoiding them like plague thus far)

What about, pancakes stuffed with bacon and cheese, then deep-fried, then with the procedure used to make french toast used on the pancake.

I am surprised at how many people are throwing their hate at No Man's Sky. It was an obvious trainwreck from the getgo (cont)

People would be throwing just as much hate at it had it followed through with most of the spoken-of features, or at least I think so. Far too much hype. Hype never does well.

I disagree - if something deserves the hype, the hype factor can add a lot more enjoyment into the game (for example: skyrim when it was first released). hell even if a game isn't as good as you expected, as long as it's still a good game on its own, the hype factor can make it be very fun

Hype can be very good for a game's enjoyment if it satisfies the players... otherwise, it's devastating
