So. I realized, since there are over 70 chapters, the Contents page was getting a little cluttered. So, I have split the story into 6 sections (Well, I already had, if you have paid attention). Just makes it easier to look through the wall of text that is the Contents page.

But Damn. By the next Moon Lord fight, it will be chapter 80. 80 I say! When I started this, I expected it to end before chapter 10. At chapter 15 or so, I set myself in for the long haul... But only expected, like, 50 chapters. 60 at most. And now it's looking at 80. '

2 and a half months of 2 chapters a day (with a few breaks) to get this far. Congratulations to all of you who started back at part one (Before Skeletron `:p). And an even bigger congratulations if you read it all in one go! `:D

EDIT: Oops... It was one and a half months `

So far have read every chapter in one go, and I love it. Now will go back and like every one of them. Best terraria story I've ever read, really is a great story.

Chapter seventy seven: Squished like a bug

The first sound was the buzzing of an Alien Hornet's wings. The second was the twanging of a bow, mingling in with the buzz. And the next was a squelch, and a thud, as the Phantasm's Arrows found their mark.

The Vortexians and Storm Divers were not far behind the ever-present Hornets, but they had to go through the Dragon to get to the Immortal. Many did, to be greeted personally, bow already loosed in their direction. Alien Queens made their way onto the battlefield as well, and were met with a similar treatment to the Storm Divers.

The Immortal ran back and forth, trying to avoid having Hornets appear on top of them. Shooting down anything that moved, they were merciless, cackling madly as they wrought carnage around them. The Moon Lord watched, unnerved by the Immortal's... Enthusiasm.

After a few dozen of their comrades had fallen, the Hornets managed to land enough sneak attacks on the Immortal to finally slay them. This earnt them a short reprieve, before the Immortal was back for more, deadly Dragon shooting out in front of them to get a head start on the murderous rampage. And so, dozens more joined their fallen brethren, and the Pillar's telltale ripple burst outward.

On the way to the Pillar, an Alien Queen managed to sting the Immortal, Distorting their gravity. The Queen met it's end, and the Immortal still made it to the Pillar... And a horde of Storm Divers and Hornets made it to the Immortal. The Pillar only took a few Arrows to the side, before the Immortal was sent back for another period of recovery.

The Moon Lord finished gathering up the spare Luminite he would require to fix the Vessel, as he watched the Vortex Pillar crumble to the ground. As the Immortal looted, he scooped up the remaining Power from that Pillar as well, and wove it in as he worked. The Immortal did their trip to town, and then went back East, this time riding the Minecart all the way to the Jungle.

Chapter seventy eight: Flew too close

The Immortal disembarked at the Jungle, and could already hear the rumble of gigantic Fireballs hitting the ground up above. They sighed, and went up to face the Solar Clan, weaving their UFO up to the surface. They kept close to the walls of the winding tunnel, in case a Crawltipede happened to take notice of them.

They managed to reach the surface without eliciting Crawltipede wrath, but did have to fend off a handful of Corites on the climb up. This resulted in an already wounded Immortal turning to face the oncoming Drakomire and Selenian horde with a sigh, pulling out the Solar Eruption to begin fending them off.

A few dozen of the Warriors fell, before an Arrow bounced off of a Selinian's spinning blades found it's way to the Immortal's ribs. Or, well... One Arrow too many would be a better way of putting it. They disappeared into their customary little puff of coins, and the Moon Lord created another Grave Marker for them. Mostly out of spite, as it was actually rather amusing to see all the Graves that now littered certain places, like the Corrupt Desert which had recently been vacated of it's Celestial Tower.

The Immortal made their return, and climbed the path back up once again. It took a moment for the Corites to realize they had returned, as the trip back took a while. A few Corites still managed to land a hit, before a scowling Immortal ripped through them with the Solar Eruption.

Another few dozen more of the Solar Clan fell, and then so did the Immortal. A clink of a Minecart being boarded, and a cruise along the Underground Railway, before disembarking to make the climb. And then another few dozen kills, before the Immortal made a jump that was a little to high, resulting in a panic as they evaded the Crawltipede... And ran straight into a descending Fireball.

With many a growl and a grumble, the Minecart was boarded once more. The Immortal relaxed as the Vehicle made it's way East once more, and the Moon Lord quietly tinkered on his Vessel. The "Minute of quiet" as he had come to think of it was oddly calming most of the time, except to the Immortal. After a few trips, the ride got a tad aggravating.

As the Immortal flew back up the passageway, another clump of Corites managed to anger them further. Upon their demise, the Solar Pillar's barrier gave out, and the Immortal made a beeline for it, Solar Eruption carving a path through anyone fool enough to bar their way. Once below the Pillar, they pulled out Phantasm, and began a steady stream of Arrows, to drill through the Pillar and rip it in two.

The post battle clean up went as per usual, with the Immortal killing off stragglers before collecting the Fragments of Power, and the Moon Lord rerouting residual energy to the Vessel. It began to regenerate now, the patched-up wounds starting to knit together properly. And the Immortal put everything away in the Village, before setting out West, to the last of the four.

Chapter seventy nine: At last, again

Moments after the Immortal reached the Tundra Hill, a Brain Suckler latched onto their head to begin clawing away. This resulted in a spray of Arrows launched upward, which tore through one Suckler... Just to make room for a second, which the Immortal was unfortunate enough to run straight into due to Obstructed vision. And then they died.

The Moon Lord watched in amusement as the Immortal made their way back, fuming silently as the UFO floated along. The Dragon was resummoned as they flew, freeing up their hands for Phantasm once more. An Evolution Beast fired off a Homing Nebula Sphere as they approach, resulting in a rapid climb upwards in order to avoid it. The Nebula Floaters also came, meaning the skies weren't all that safe either, the air full of Magical bolts of energy.

The Immortal did loops through the air to deal with most of the Nebula Clan. The Predictors milled around on the ground below, the Dragon taking a swoop at them every now and then. Brain Sucklers were shot on sight, and Evolution Beasts often fell to the chaos of Dragon and Arrows that would visit them now and then. And so the Immortal's kill count began to grow, and the barrier around the Nebula Pillar began to fade.

The Immortal died twice more, simply due to the sheer amount of enemies flying at them bodily, and various projectiles that sought them out. The small burst of peace was shorter to get to the Tundra Hill, as the UFO puttering along was a touch slower than a straight-run minecart. More Grave Markers littered the ground, Coins were lost and reclaimed, and more Nebula Clan died. Shortly after the third death, the Immortal managed to bring down the barrier completely, and proceeded to rip through it with their barrage.

The Moon Lord reached down, and scooped up the magical residue immediately, funnelling it into the Vessel. The Immortal did their post-Pillar clean-up, before retreating to the Village, tweaking a few things as they dumped stuff in a chest. They grabbed their Potions, heading out to the Clearing.

By the time the Immortal was ready, the Moon Lord had finished calibrating the Vessel, and was assimilating with it where it hid. The Power surged through it, and he felt his control seep through it fluidly, almost like another set of limbs. Flexing, the Moon Lord made fully sure the body was reacting how he wanted... And then he teleported to the Immortal, eager to face his foe once more.

So. It begins! Again! `:p

Anywho, usual gushing at the crazy support. 1,000+ likes now (Already! `:passionate:), 10,000+ views, and 23 people wanting the Bunny Diary.

Yup. Over 50% of votes. You people ` If it is a Bunny Diary you want, it will be a Bunny Diary you get. Unlikely to be updated as often though. Also likely to work on a side project as well, before moving on to either the Solar Coven, or the Rewrite, for when I feel like something less fluffy than a Bunny `:D

No matter what comes next, Bunny Diary will only start a day or two after this ends. The side thing will be a surprise. And the serious work (Either one) will only start once the side project is done, so not for a few days more after that. Links will be provided on this thread, and possibly in my Sig.

Until then, enjoy the remainder of my writings on the Lamentation of the Moon Lord `;)

This would be so good.

Chapter eighty: A descending Moon Lord

Both combatants moved at once. A tentacle sprung from the Moon Lord's mouth, and Bolts from his hands. The Dragon flew for his open Eyes, and Arrows from the Phantasm aimed for the one in his forehead. The Immortal flew upward and to the side, trying not to remain in one place too long, and the Moon Lord followed behind, keeping close.

The Moon Lord would try and keep on of his precious Eyes closed at any given time, since they were where his energy condensed into attacks the easiest. As the one on his forehead closed, the Immortal instead aimed at a Hand. Bolts were flying everywhere, including some volatile explosive ones as well. Zigging and zagging through the air they went, a kind of brutal ballet as blows were constantly exchanged.

The Moon Lord conjured a row of Phantasmal Spheres, remembering how bad the Immortal was at dodging them last time. They rained down in a celestial storm, crashing through the Immortal's UFO as they did so. The Immortal recovered in a moment, but winced at the wound it left. And then the dodging and chasing resumed, the Moon Lord no letting them get away for even a moment.

As the wounds on the Eye sockets upon his Hands piled up, the Moon Lord scowled. Concentrating, the Moon Lord sent as much Power as he could to the Eye upon his forehead, and fired off the massive Beam, laced with the intent to disrupt the Immortal's reincarnation once and for all. While the Immortal did take more grievous wounds from the beam than anything else, they simply drank one of those blasted Potions, and then resumed firing a barrage or Arrows at whatever part of the Moon Lord was exposed.

His Eyes ached, and his grip upon them loosened. Even the one in his forehead was starting to sting, despite having a much more secure casing than the Hands, with them needing to be able to flex as they did. And so, after a few more shots from Phantasm, the Eyes slipped out of his Hands, and began to fly around, still adding to the chaos of Bolts, Phantasmal Spheres, and plain old ramming tactics.

As the Moon Lord charged up another condensed Beam, so did the Eyes accompanying him. The Immortal did their best to minimize the damage, but still too the full force of the main Beam, almost managing to tear something off. Wounded heavily, the Immortal persevered, and kept on returning fire the entire time, fumbling one handed for another Potion as soon as they could.

A wave of Bolts. Phantasmal Spheres flying everywhere. The detached Eyes constantly getting in the Immortal's way. They were not faring much better than last time, perhaps a bit worse. The Moon Lord closed his remaining Eye, trying to not let it slip out. The Immortal scowled in frustration, and then smiled. And they flew off to the side, the Moon Lord following not far behind.

Chapter eighty one: Pain and pleasure

That cunning little trickster. They had adjusted the living arrangements of the Village slightly, and moved the Nurse so that she was easier to get to without leaving the UFO. They hurriedly handed over the necessary payment, and received a corresponding amount of Elixir in return, just enough to heal everything. The peculiar concoction did not even leave any detrimental effects on the user when consumed. The Nurse was secretive about the recipe though, and it apparently was expensive to make... For which the Moon Lord was grateful.

The Moon Lord's hand passed through the Village walls, and took a swipe at the Nurse as punishment. The wound was light, and she quickly used some Elixir on herself as the Moon Lord chased after the Immortal again, as they fled to the Clearing. The Moon Lord was cursing himself as the Eye on his forehead received more Arrows, courtesy of the Immortal... He should have suspected this. He had seen them do it many times, when the Village was invaded by Pirates, Martians, Pumpkins and Elves. And now... They had used it on him.

The third Eye did not last long, soon slipping out of the remaining socket. The Moon Lord felt a twinge in his chest, much like he had in the previous battle... The extra thick protective casing around his Core, the heart that pumped the Power around the mighty Vessel, was now exposed. The Plating had suffered with every Eye to detach, as the Core needed to spend some Power to simply fuel the Eyes as they flew around. The energy protecting Core had been it's undoing, but admittedly, had kept it from getting harmed any sooner.

The Moon Lord let out a low growl as he charged up the Beam. Or, well, he would have, had the Vessel possessed a throat. It may be modelled after him, but it did not require any of the usual organs, deriving sustenance purely from the Power. As the beam readied, the Immortal dodged attacks from the Eyes, all three of them providing a relentless assault upon his foe. As usual, the Immortal weathered their way through the Beam, using a Potion to recover and keep on fighting.

The Moon Lord kept close to the Immortal, and the Immortal kept high off the ground, making sure they had a clear shot at the Core at all times. Bolts flew from both the Moon Lord himself and the Eyes the entire time, with Phantasmal Sphere being thrown at the Immortal regularly to try and crush them, or at least the UFO. The cursed saucer did not seem to be overly affected by damage though, and the Immortal managed to sustain themself with Potions for the most part.

Feeling his Core weakening, the Moon Lord began to panic slightly. This was his Vessel. His. Housing the Soul of the ruler of this land. And he was losing to this... Human. Or were they Human? The Moon Lord brushed the thought to the side, instead focussing on sending another focused Beam of death through the Immortal, hoping that they would die. Preferably for good, but even a reprieve from this uphill battle would be welcome.

The Immortal was sent careening down to the ground when the Beam hit them, and the Moon Lord felt a glimmer of hope. But that hope quickly vanished. The Immortal had not puffed into Coins, after all. No, they were simply retreating to the Nurse, again. The rage and frustration he felt must have transmitted to the Eyes, as they all sent waves of Phantasmal Spheres at her house, trying to get both her and the Immortal. The Immortal had already fled, good as new, and the Nurse managed to hold on somehow, quickly fetching some Elixir to help recover. She was a resilient one, that's for sure.

Blinded by panic and rage, the thought of aiming for the Nurse did not occur to the Moon Lord at that time. It may have been better for him if it had. Instead, he kept up the attack on the Immortal, trying to bring them down even faster then before. They remained infuriatingly agile though, and managed to avoid most of the attacks, barring Spheres and Beams. Which, sadly, took a lot of energy to fire. The Moon Lord used them as often as he could, which whittled through the Immortal's health, and their Potions.

And then a surge of pain went through the Moon Lord. The Dragon had been stubbornly gnawing on his exposed Core the entire time, and it now pierced through it, disrupting the flow of Power that kept the Vessel stable. Pain overwhelmed the Moon Lord, and he froze... As his body began to crumble, sparks flying out wherever Power overloaded and erupted through his skin.

He heard the Immortal cheer, landing below where the Moon Lord hung, dying. And then his vision went dark.

Tis be a rather tragic turn of events...though I say the Tragedy comes form the fact that Moon Lord is the protagonist and that we all knew that he was gonna die.
Sort of like if Macbeth was a member of the Great Old Ones.

So is this the last chapter before the bunny story or is there an epilogue of sorts?

There probably will be. Maybe Moon Lord survived, but is just giving up, since there is nothing he can do to stop the player.

Epilogue: The Lamentation of the Moon Lord.

The first thing they noticed was the faint feeling of a gentle shaking of their arm. The hand felt... Thin. The next thing they felt were legs. Why was that important? Most things have legs. Even tables. That made no sense...

And then his eyes opened, and he beheld his throne room. The Moon Lord looked to the side, and there was Skeletron Prime, leaning back after seeing it's creator alive.

The Moon Lord sat up straight in his Throne, looking around. They were all here. The King of all Slimes, the Eye of Cthulhu, Even a Queen Bee had made it to his hall.An Eater of Worlds lay coiled in the corner, watching. There was even this peculiar Brain... Thing. It felt familiar, and yet not.

The essence of the Clothier's Curse had manifested itself, forming a ghostly visage of Skeletron's face. That must have taken a miracle of magic, but it felt right. And visible outside, too large to fit even here, was the Wall of Flesh, staring in silently.

Skeletron Prime backed away, and took it's place next to the Destroyer, and the Twins. They stared at him too, only given rudimentary intelligence, and yet their gaze was glued to him. A small crowd of Goblins huddled around one of their Summoners, and the Flying Dutchman hovered near the roof, Pirates standing a silent vigil.

One of Plantera's Bulbs was visible, still in it's infant stage. And yet, it leaked the same power of it's full grown form. Mothron and Nailhead stood quietly, representing those that the Moon Lord had called to the Village what felt like months ago. Even a Golem, huge and carved of stone, looked up at the Throne upon it's dais, presumably brought here by some of the others.

A Mourning Wood stood bristling next to an Everscream. Santa-NK1 loomed behind them both. And over their heads hovered the Pumpking, and an Ice Queen, a little distance between them so as not to melt the Ice. And hulking behind them all was the original Fishron. The sight was a wonder to behold, far superior to the young Dukes.

Hovering close to the Throne was one of the Saucers from the Martian force, robotic tentacles retracting from the Moon Lord's body. Arranged in a ring around him were the main force of the Four Clans: The Seleinians, fires within them burning low. The Vortexians, unsteady on their feet. The Predictors, stances solemn. And the Stargazers, eyes upon him.

And closest of all, kneeling respectfully, was the Leader of the Lunar Coven. The sheer force of will it must have taken to get here showed on their face, and it seemed some of the Clans energy was being expended just to keep them there, and yet no word of complaint was uttered.

In fact, no word of any kind was spoken in the entire room. A faint flutter of robes, slither of adjusting coils, and quite breathing. The Moon Lord looked upon them, and understood, no words needed.

They had preceded him. And now, it was his turn. And he threw aside his dignity, and he curled in on himself. And he cried, until Clans and Ancient Cultist departed, needed... Elsewhere.

The rest? They stayed. They kept the Moon Lord company, until he, too, needed to depart. And the tears still glistened on his face as he did so.
