an alternate desert

Introduction
"Long ago a mysterious calamity consumed a once great nation; flooding the land and draining the denizens of life. Today, the site of the land's territories are little more than massive and still graves. But through the muck, fog, and silence... adventurers report strange lights and figures moving in the distance..."
It's finally here! The desert alt has finally arrived!
Firstly. Wow. Sorry that this alt took so long to post. YICK. I'll attempt to be better about deadlines and drafts in the future to make sure that those who are waiting for alternates, don't have to go insane doing so. The Necropolis was an odd duck to work on. I had one vision for the alternate while waiting for the new Desert content to drop. Afterwards though, working on it almost seemed too close to the source biome. So I shook it up.
In the Necropolis you will find strong marsh themes mixed with very classical and traditional ghost mythologies. Visually, it's a huge departure from the current Desert. But as with most of my alts these days; we have entered darker themes. The most difficult part of creating The Necropolis was the alternate's many forms. It seems like just about everything has a Corruption, Crimson, and Hallow variation. And I didn't skimp; so I alternate'd all the Necropolis content too! If you find something I may have skipped over (totally possible) just let me know and I'll fix it asap.
Well. Without further ado, please enjoy The Necropolis! I hope it was worth every bit the wait!
There's nothing here yet!

This is a suggestion. And as such does not assume anything definitively. This means...
Balance is a non-issue; the numbers are provided to elicit an idea of what values an object could have. If the not-set-in-stone-imaginary numbers upset you, you're welcome to suggest other numbers, but they have no bearing on the suggestion changed or not.
Sprites are a non-issue; sprites have been provided, like balance, to help imagine the suggestion as a concept. In no way are any of the sprites final. Just like the numbers, they too are not-set-in-stone-imaginary things. This means that recolored, spliced, and unique sprites have no ultimate bearing on the suggestion. If any particular sprite upsets you, you are welcome to provide one of your own to remedy the not-actually-an-issue so that I may reject it.
This is an alternate. This means that The Necropolis can spawn in a world instead of the Desert. It does not replace the Desert. As an alternate, The Necopolis additionally does not mirror the values or gameplay of The Desert in a 1:1 ratio. It is it's own biome, not a recolor or reskin. The Necorpolis is also NOT an expansion. There is no additional content. Content included in The Necropolis is a counterpart or replacement of existing content given to the Desert.
Lastly; as an alternate (and not an expansion or replacement), The Necropolis does not assume to redefine class balance. I'm sorry if your favorite class isn't represented well in the suggestion. If the Desert represented all classes equally, so too would The Necropolis .

Sediment and it's biome derivatives do not entirely replace Sand in a world. Sand may still generate in the Underground and Ocean biomes.
![]()
Sedimentstone Block Walls and it's biome derivatives are naturally generated/converted. They are unobtainable.
![]()
Willow does not replace Palm Wood entirely. They are just the item generated from chopping down Willow trees, which spawn on Sediment.

Willow trees grow when Acorns are planted on Sediment instead of Palm trees. Palm trees can still grow when placed on Sand.

The surface of The Necropolis is littered with pools of shallow water.
The Necropolis does not have a "heat shimmer" effect. Instead, it has a thin fog effect.
The Necropolis does not have Sandstorms. Instead, The Necropolis is host to Heavy Fog which greatly impairs a player's vision.

Tough Tooth gives the player a Bone Maw mount. The Bone Maw mount "swims" through the top of the ground and can swim across the surfaces of water. It moves more quickly when moving through Mud, Sediment, and Water. The mount can perform a short dash by tapping left/right twice, which will cause minor damage to enemies.
