Poetry Tsuki's Poems and Lyrical Stylings. (Maybe requests?)

Tsuki

Party Girl
Well, as I find myself coming into more and more free time, I decided to pursue my poetry again. I find myself thinking about lyrics, poems, etc. I figured "Hey, why not, right?" and decided to go ahead and open up my own poetry thread. It'll be a nice place to post my random ideas that never seem to make it anywhere else, to come up with ideas for poems, let people know what projects I'm working on, and maybe in the (near) future, I'll open up requests for some extra practice and giving me a good topic to write about. So I'll be dividing this post into several sections. My personal poems and works, a section where I'll put requests, and perhaps a last section where I'll talk about my current endeavors.

For a little background info about me as a lyricist and poet; a lot of my lyrical influence came from both Eminem, and Shel Silverstein's children's books. I was exposed to Eminem's music from a very young age, and despite much adult content in his lyrics, I was able to appreciate his wordplay, flow, and the actual lyrical techniques. Silverstein, however, instilled a sense of whimsy in me. So I combined these two influences, and it leaves me without formal poetry study, but at the same time I create poems that are fun to sing / read, while also making me not afraid to derive from traditional style poetry. I've explored several different formats, structure, schemes, and more, and I don't have a personal favorite. Though most assuredly, many of my poems rhyme and are quite whimsical in nature, but occasionally explore deeper themes.

For the time being, I'll go ahead and start transferring poems from my other previous places. A lot of these poems come from the Starbound forums, which is the only other real place I've had a poem repository. Going back those years, I realize how many of the poems I enjoyed, and decided to take most of them to put here.

The Past
Where I'll post things I've done previously. Mainly, works before TCF.
One of my earliest poems, this one still remains as one of my favorites, especially from a lyrical standpoint. I somewhat recently renovated a bit to touch up some forced rhymes and lameness. Part of what I do involves trying to get the flow just right.

I promise you
That I am true
I try for you and vie for you
I'll scan the endless sky for you
Looking for my nearby moon
and when night turns from black to blue
I think you're gone and pine for you
but you're always right there too
I'm standing side by side with you
You don't leave, you never do
But I'd do anything for you
I'd tell a little lie or two
I've always kept my eye on you
and as we grew
it became true
that I would even die for you
but who knew?
You love me too
I longed to kiss you, and anew
Beneath the twilight, before the dew
But yet dawn comes, and that's the cue
for you to return to the moon
and even though I bid adieu
just know my heart belongs to you
This was one of my favorite "requests" that I fulfilled over on the Starbound forums, in terms of flow and theme. This is just an example of the types of poems I often give people as requests.

Tojo

Looking for what he once lost
He knows not where it is.
Retrieving it at any cost
It must again be his.

Searching high and searching low
through plains and forest alike.
Any place that he must go
he'll surely make the hike.

What was lost must then be found
no matter what the stakes.
Whether through, or whether 'round
he'll travel past the lakes.

A wanderer must wander far,
to fulfill his deeds.
Following his patron star
to find that which he needs.

I tell the tale of Brave Tojo
May luck smile on his quest.
In my heart, deep down I know
he'll be able to rest.

If correctly, I once heard
from a wise old elf.
The goal by which Tojo was spurred
was to find himself.
The first poem I wrote to ring in spring, as part of a small mini-series of poems I did. I enjoyed experimenting on the alliteration and combining that with the basic ABCB format.

Winter Wonderland

What is a winter wonderland?
That, we often wonder why.
Once we find that which we seek
we shan't ever run awry.

That whimsical, wonderful, willingful bliss
that not one of us will deny
Still we all wait and we want and we wish
That we won't ever need bid goodbye

Why do we wander this wonderous world?
And why do we watch it all wane?
Wistfully wondering whether or not
We will see the same beauty again.

While waiting the weather will slowly get better
we'll witness the warm windy Spring.
From the wriggling worms to the wolves and the wasps
We worry less about what it will bring.

The winter wreathes dead, the wealth of snow melts
This battle Spring surely will win
Chill of the cold wrested away by the warm
This new circle of life can begin
This is a song I wrote about myself ages ago. ABCB again. I used ABCB a lot back then, as it was quite easy from a lyrical standpoint.

Lady in White

The Lady in White is a wonderful sight,
A real treat for all those to behold.
She walks and she stalks in the midst of the snow
in the middle of blistering cold

The Lady in White, is found late at night
She basks in the glow of the moon
She's never tired but is oft admired
Singing her soft haunting tune.

This wonderful tune, it makes the men swoon
They follow her trail in delight
It's difficult since she leaves no footprints
She disappears into the night

But where does she go, when there is no more snow?
Does she just cease to exist?
Her greatest fear, as she sheds a tear
is that she will not be missed.
This poem was a bit of an experimental foray for me. I wanted to discuss each color of the rainbow in terms of the impact on spring, while also going for an ABCC scheme, opting to bring alliteration into the final lines of each stanza, while posing it as a bit of a rhetorical question.

Colors

Spring itself brings a myriad of colors.

Yellow is the sun, in the dawn and dusk, it is the butterfly.
Yellow gives spring the happiness and alertness it needs.
The color of joy, so peaceful and mellow
What is more youthful than the yearning of yellow?

Green is the grass, the leaves, and the snakes.
Green gives spring life and the courage to break through the snow.
The color of fertility, so simple and clean
What is more graceful than the gentleness of green?

Blue is the sky, the jays, and the fish that hatch.
Blue gives spring the serenity that makes the spring relaxing.
The color of calmness, so pretty and true.
What could be better than babbling brooks blue?

Indigo is the night sky, violets and insects.
Indigo gives the spring the mystical and magical aura at night.
The color of wisdom, that only spring knows
What is more interesting than indigo?

Violet is the emperor butterfly, and other majestic creatures.
Violet gives spring a sense of royalty and mystery.
The color of mysticism, from ocean to islet
What can be more vicarious and vidid than violet?

Red is the fox, the tulips and roses.
Red gives spring passion, comfort, and vitality.
the color of warmth, without which spring'd be dead
What's really more rejuvenating than the power of red?

Orange is the sun, some birds, and some more.
Orange gives spring the gentle sincerity it needs.
The color of endurance, the color of healing.
What rhymes with orange?
I don't have any commentary on this one other than I liked the rhyming scheme. The idea was to portray that winter ends overnight and you wake up the next day and it's spring, I guess.

The moon is a-glowin'
The wind is a-blowin'
Nobody is knowin'
What tomorrow will bring.

The wind is awhistle
Makes your hair bristle
just like the thistle
in Mid-morning's spring.

The sun is a-shining
the plants entertwining
The flowers defining
this wond'rous thing.
I wrote this one about my biological sister. She's named for the Sun.
Sunshine

Live-giving and awe-inspiring
Shining bright as long as anyone can remember.
Warming those who behold its presence.
Without it, I cannot live.
Even when I don't see it,
I rest assured that others can.
Even when I cannot bathe in its light
it still gives others joy.
I love my sun.
I wrote this about a thing.

Watching, Waiting, Contemplating
My first kiss with my true love.

Always searching, Always dating
It will never be enough

Always sighing, always crying
This whole act is really rough

Always hurting, slowly dying
I've had it with all this stuff

But I'll keep fighting, I'll keep trying
I'll push back when comes to shove

Looking for that special one
for whom it fits just like a glove.

All the sweeter, when I meet her
My angel from skies above

Holding, kissing, always missing
impossible to let go of

Touching, mating, Procreating
How I crave my little dove.
I was inspired in this poem, by the complex relationship between my mother and myself.

Pretty little Princess, why is it you cry?
You've everything you'd ever want, so what's the reason why?
You're an heiress to a kingdom, could it be you're shy?
Tucked away in a castle, oh so very high.

But my little Princess, come sit on my lap.
I'll share with you a story, and give your nose a tap.
I will tell a tale, of a queen's silly mishap.
I'll tell this little story until you need to nap.

Once a Princess on her own, this queen was still quite young.
Although she had a heart of gold, she had a silver tongue.
One fine morn, she went to walk, with birds and bees among
She sang a song of sacred spring, and boy that song was sung.

Not too long, she found a Prince, with chiseled jaw and broad chest.
She had walked, finished her song, and decided on a rest.
The prince had heard her siren's song, he felt his ears were blessed.
He took her hand, and led her off, to make her honored guest.

Much later on, they were wed, to the kingdom it was known
Some time had passed, the prince was dead, she inherited the throne.
Before he passed, and it was said, many seeds he did have sown.
Not long after our youthful queen, now had a princess of her own.

So my little princess, my advice to you
Is to yourself be faithful, to your family true.

Now my little princess, there's no need to weep
Mommy's here to take care of you, and now you need to sleep.
I wrote this about the moon embodied as a woman who comes to earth to frolic.

Dancing in the moonlight
Never sees the day
Appears ev-ery night
and dances it away.

Who is this fine creature
and why does she run?
Wish I could beseech her
to stay and have some fun.

But some things aren't meant to be
and this is surely one.
So I will just wait and see
her when the day is done.
I wrote this one and it looked cool, but is also a point of reference about time itself from birth to death.
Time
Time is a funny thing.
The more you want to hold it,
The more it wants to pass you by.
Memories themselves become memories.
You remember a time when you remembered a time.
And then you remember time itself, and how slow it used to go.
The middle of your life is when you spend the longest time remembering it.
When you're older and younger, that is when time passes the fastest.
The youth of your childhood seems to pass in the blink of an eye.
And then your older years seem to blur weeks into days.
You spend these days reminiscing about a better time.
A time where time was slow and good.
Time is funny.
This is a poem that's not about Red Bull

Red Bull

Red Bull is nasty, as I take a drink.
It smells bad too, as I take another.
If it's so terrible, why do I continue drinking it?
Does it give me wings? Surely it wouldn't,
otherwise I would fly far away from it.
But if I need it to give me wings
how can I escape it and still be able to fly?
How can I need something to be happy, but it makes me miserable?
I hate it while it's here, but I'd suffer without it.
It's disgusting, but as long as I have some, It can get me through the day.
I'd think about it until the remnants of the aftertaste disappear from mouth and memory.
I guess I wouldn't miss it until it's gone.
Only then can I appreciate what it did for me.

I'm not sure this poem is about Red Bull anymore.
This is a cool mini-poem.

Naivety is precious,
Ignorance is bliss.
What did you do
when I held you
And offered you a kiss?

You said that we were just friends
and tried to make amends.
From the start
you held my heart
but this is how it ends.
No commentary. I like the rhymes.

Forbidden Fruits

Never saw her, must have missed her
How I did's a mystery.
Never knew I had a sister
Heaven knows that's history.

Aching, hurting, like a blister
she consumes my every thought.
Inside my mind is like a twister,
in my stomach, like a knot.

Had I known, could I resist?
Even when my mind persists?
We had our hands entwined like this?
Would this heart of mine desist?
Each and every sign consisted
of my love so why dismiss it.
And if not how could I exist
unassisted by sunshine, and I insist
that thine own heart should be in bliss
amidst that precious silk bodice.
It will never be amiss cause this
is first on my list of our business.
And though it might be hit and miss,
I'm not remiss, this I promise.
So please, Miss, do not submit,
instead subsist, you get the gist.
I'll gladly take you by the wrist
and lead you through the fog and mist.

And so our tale can then begin
and we can write our history.
We missed the start, but have the end
the middle is the mystery.

She really is my bright sunshine
She's far away, and I still miss her.
If it must be, then that is fine;
I'll be the fool who kissed her sister.
Portrait of Insanity

I am her, and she is me.
We are us, but they don't see.
They might guess, but never know
I'm more than one, we're less than three.

If I am her and she is I,
then we are us, but she is shy
It's hard to get, I'll give you that
But you can bet that we'll get by.
These are just some lyrics I thought up while listening to "Song of Storms" one day. I enjoyed the rather dark lyrics of it.

Song of Storms

Flood the plain
Pouring rain
Release us from this world of pain

I don't want to live
I don't want to breathe

Once Again
With Disdain
My words rip the clouds in twain

Listen to my Song of Storms

Hear my call
Let it fall
Sins won't wash away at all

They must all be drowned
No survivors found

Haunting drawl
Deadly squall
Look at all the bodies sprawled

Listened to my Song of storms
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
You're still in my head,
and I'm thinking of you.

But those roses are dead,
the violets are too.
After you told me that it won't come true.

The Present
Where I'll post about things I'm currently working on, and completed poems in the TCF era.

Right now, what I'm working on, is creating a proper ending for one of my favorite poems, Tsundere Tserenade. I'm revamping a little bit to make sense, and also creating a "sequel" to it. The First part is how a person might view and treat a "Tsundere" girl. The sequel is from the Tsundere's point of view. I'm about 95% done revamping Tsundere Tserenade, and I'm about 70% done with the sequel. For the raw version of Tsundere Tserenade, as well as a "preview" of what I'm going to do with it, you can check out the spoiler, with my own little notes about how I'm going to fix the poems.

Tsundere Tserenade

Yes and no,
Stop and go,
How am I supposed to know
just what you need,
cause what you say,
and what you mean,
are not the same.
I look at you,
you look away.
I turn my back
and feel your gaze.
I touch your face,
you blush and say,
"Don't be weird!"
and "Go away!"
But when I'm gone,
they say you cry.
You claim they're wrong
and wonder why,
they'd say such things
It's like they try
to make you mad.
I see you're sad,
it's in your eyes.
And when you sigh.
I wish that I
could dry your tears,
and calm your fears,
and lend an ear.
But when I get close
You push back hard.
we grow apart,
just look how far.

But one day, I promise you,
I pray for it and hope it's true,
you'll show a softer side of you,
and accept my feelings too.

Like a cold snap turned into a heat wave,
you gave me the cold shoulder and it became
a warm touch. Like the world rolling over,
getting hotter and colder. Frozen smoulder.
The ice queen will go
from mean to nice, drove me insane
with these games, and they entice me with the thrill
of the chase, I'll race for it.
Here and now just isn't the place for it.

I might say that you're "too hot" or "too cold," But the truth of the matter,
love,
is that you warm me up or cool me off when I need it. I just need you to be closer
to feel the full effect.

These parts are definitely going to be in Tsundere Tserenade, I am 100% sure of that. I love the rhyme scheme and layout.

I am debating on entirely removing these; they don't particularly go with the flow, though I can't end the poem too abruptly, so I need to create a proper bridge and ending for the poem.

I am reworking this part and putting it into the sequel. It really breaks the flow of the poem in its current state, and will be better put into the sequel, which features longer lines and a more intense rhyme scheme, to showcase just how conflicting it might be in a Tsundere's mind.

I am also working on a Terraria piece: Rap battles featuring the bosses. Right now, I am working on the bosses' verses against the player. However, when I'm finished, I will write the player's rap responses to the bosses, too. The boss verses will feature ways that they are able to defeat the player, and their strengths, whereas the player verses will reference the best strategies to beat the bosses in their words. I'm about 30% of the way done with Pre-HM bosses, 0% done with the Player verses. As a bonus, I will include Player character rapping when confronted by invasions / Moons. I know many people are quite averse to rap, so I won't really offer any samples on this project without someone expressing interest.

The Future
Where I'll post about things I eventually want to work on, but haven't yet.
Uh. Requests is something I definitely want to work on in the future.

Around the same time I was thinking of Tsundere Tserenade, I had several rhymes that were more of a "Yandere" feel to it. As such, I'm thinking of doing a Yandere Tserenade when I finish. Tsundere and the sequel.

Requests
They go here, probably.

I'll probably pretty this thread up later with banners or prettier pictures / dividers later. Or, probably not. I dunno.

Well, thanks for reading and stay tuned for updates. I don't expect it to be TOO long before I open requests. And no, I'm not going to accept requests to be put on a waiting list before requests are open. When requests are open then you can make requests, no reserving a request spot. Thanks, loves.

Another poet to add to the ranks, yet you've technically been doing it much longer than I have. I hope to sit and watch your poetry, if you don't mind a silent watcher.

Edit: A poem about Song of Storms? My absolute favorite.

I definitely don't mind at all. Poetry's been in my life for so long, and I always love sharing it. I do like the Song of Storms one; I might write a longer poem inspired about it as opposed to just piecing lyrics there.

These old poems? Nah, I dunno how much of them are actually good or anything. At least, I don't deserve any more exposure than anyone else. o:

C'mon now, no need to be modest. Anyway I plan on waiting around for first request.
Oooh. Nice. It might be a while before that happens though..I definitely want to shrink my to-do list down some, though I got quite a lot of non-poetry work to do.

But I'm definitely working on them, very excited to share when I'm finished~

Excellent work^u^
seriously i love them , especialy the one named new moon it made me feel all tingly the end was adorable :3 I’m looking forward to reading more Cx

Thanks for the kind words! New Moon is most definitely one of my favorites. I hope to update with something cool this weekend, I need to be more diligent.

Beautiful... these poems are just beautiful, Tsuki.. :dryadcry:

Especially New Moon and Lady in White, both of those are my favorites.

An honorable mention to Princess; it actually made me go "Awwwwwh" out loud.
and Flowers, despite it's simplicity, caused a small pain of sadness in my chest when I read the second half.

I hope to see more of your poems~<3
