Zenith is made from Swords (and looks like a Sword), Daybreak comes from the melee pillar and is a spear, Enchanted sword Sword, Influx waver and Meowmere are all swords (that shoots projectiles) and Vampire Knives fits to the melee class' tanky playstyle (since healing yourself goes perfectly with the highest defense). The only one I might agree is Shadowflame knife, but I think its a weapon like that to make the early hardmode easier for the Melee class (since mechs and Queen slime are basically mortal enemies of close range combat).
By the way, when I said everything long ranged doesnt have to be ranged I tried to say that not everything long ranged has to have ranged damage. Because if that was the case shouldnt you make every mage weapon have ranged damage and make boomerangs ranged weapons? Yeah it doesnt make much sense.
Dont worry, they will. Aside from the removal of Throwing damage, they never changed the damage type of weapons, so if they want a weapon to fit more into the playstyle of the class they can just rework it.
