    This is the sort of behavior from studios that encourages piracy. I think it's not always totally malicious, like when Google Chrome dropped support for Windows 7, and Steam relied on Chrome to function, and suddenly Windows users couldn't use Steam anymore and Steam doesn't like people playing Steam games without Steam running in the background.

    Custom titles in TerrariaOnline were given away as part of contests, or by achieving a preposterously huge number of trophy points (TCF's system awards titles instead of trophy points, this wasn't possible back in TO). I got mine through points and trophies gained through community contribution. By the time TO died only about 4 or 5 people managed to get enough points for a title.

    Back in TO titles were set based on your number of trophy points and could not be changed, custom title holders on the other hand were able to change title at will into anything they wanted. Here we are limited to one title only that can never be changed. Changing to a badge-title for custom title holders only changes the background of the title on forum pages. You could say the situation pretty much reversed.
