    Appreciation post for the video game franchise F-Zero. I have been obsessed with it since at least mid-late-2017, stopped playing around late 2019, and returned around mid-2023.

    most websites (including the official Microsoft one) say it's Win+Alt+R but that doesn't do anything

    Yeah OBS is easy and free. And yes, there are tons of websites that will seperate audio and video for you haha.

    got OBS, works decently enough for me, managed to get it to record 'n' everything
    unfortunately none of the online audio converters worked... but then suddenly, VLC MEDIA PLAYER (UNBELIEVABLY BASED) TO THE RESCUE, BECAUSE IT HAS A BUILT-IN FILE CONVERTER!!! HELL YEAH!!!!!!!

    As a North American I still find it weird seeing these smooth, clean, streamlined, electric locomotives pulling freight in Europe.

    American rules for locomotives are different because higher crash protection is required there, and most of the "imports" have to be modified externally to fit it (in fact, the US equivalent of these Siemens ES64U's (this one is an ES64U2) are the ACS-64's operated by Amtrak; another example is the original Acela, the power cars are based on those of the TGV's) which also results in them being heavier

    (cont.) as for electrification, it's mostly just a cost thing, and because the USA is gigantic, it's not worth it for short-term (though it definitely is for long-term)... to my knowledge the NEC is the only US line with overhead wires and there's a few third rail lines here and there, the rest is all run by diesel freight trains

    it constantly breaks (duplicating messages and comments for no reason, my favourite) and the whole UI is really cluttered even if you go and disable everything you can

    Amber turn signals do still come on some vehicles actually, amber is required in the EU from what I remember, not sure what the regulations for colours here in North America are however...

    yes ik for certain that it's required in the EU (imported burgermuncher vehicles need to have them (retro)fitted from what i remember), not sure if the same applies the other way round though

    I'm in America, and down here in Alabama 90% of vehicles have amber turn signals and emergency flashers. Perhaps it's a northern US thing where they don't have amber signals.
