Weapons & Equip Ammo should be able to be loaded into ranger weapons

What I mean is you could have a specific ranger weapon fire a specific type of ammo (having your megashark fire crystal bullets, having your tactical shotgun fire chlorophyte bullets etc). Practical use for this is you could have a weapon for inflicting debuffs and a weapon for raw DPS without having to go into your inventory and switch which bullets get fired around every few seconds.
 
I see your point, but you can kinda do that already by just using different weapon types. Darts for ichor, arrows for groups, bullets for single target DPS, for example.

This could be a problem in late hard mode with the different shroomite helmets and needing to switch helmets depending on what ammo type your using (arrows, bullets etc) which wouldn't be a problem with multiple ranger weapons of the same type with different ammo (from loading ammo into the weapons)
 
If this is to make the game harder, I agree
But only if it's on the games hardest seed (getfixedboi)

You can always just use the chlorophyte helmet, which has more damage and defense. You'd lose the set bonus but it kinda sucks in singleplayer anyway.

If you're just going to use a secondary weapon for only debuffs, then dps bonus from mismatch shroomite shouldn't matter anyway.

adamantite would be the best helm to use, but shroomite is still the best for guns and bows since the damage is multiplicative vs other helms.
 
Though I used to agree [ammo swap], I don't think it's necessary anymore, now that we have "Loadouts" available in 1.4.4.9. 🧐 🤷‍♂️

I was actually debating making a guide about using Shroomite Sets as an "opener" for Boss Fights [especially for Sniper Rifle Builds], but wasn't too sure about how the response to it would be if it came from me. I'm pretty sure someone will cover it if we wait long enough (if they already haven't).

I guess what I'm getting at, is that I think "Build Swapping" and "Class Swapping" is much more effective and desirable than an Ammo Overhaul. As it's already been said, Gun/ Bow Swapping is already a "thing"; and Ranger is already pretty overpowered as is.
