I am pretty much all of those categories. With being a killer, I am not a backstabber. As you stated, I do hold honour in high regard when I play. I hate cowardly moves.

I used to be an Explorer/Achiever all the time, but ever since about a month ago I became pretty big on the socializing.

Again, especially considering this is involved with marketing, they can't necessarily cater to very specific personalities.

It's not about marketing it's about game design. Understanding why players play games helps you focus your game design.

Todd Howard from Bethesda admitted it was a tough task trying to make a game that attempted to cater for all tastes. I think Elder Scrolls games suffer from this, Jack of all trades, master of none. They have combat, story, simulation (owning your own home), role playing, but they never reach any great heights in any of those areas.

Knowing what turns people on in gaming can help us make better games.

But it all still leads to revenue, unless you're making a game that's completely free.

Also, Halo: Reach is a good example to show how a game can cater to numerous tastes.

I tend to look out for resources, grind for rare items and look for treasures. I use also different strategies for bosses, so Explorer would fit to me.

That was a long reading material I have not read in over a decade. I knew I recognized that chart, and readout. I think I stumbled upon that long ago and read it just the same. Was pretty interesting for a broad analysis of the games at the time. I have played a few of those type of games in the past, that the term refers to.

Saying that, I am primarily explorer, minus the extreme portion; with a mix of social and achiever. Although I go about the achiever a little differently. I don't compete with others, as that is not my concern. The only competition I have in me is with myself, to improve on my own ground; setting my own goals. With the social aspect I am neutrally centered, as I tend to listen to others in their conversations, as well interjecting into them when the topic interests me. Between solo and multiplayer is where social lies, as I may be in the mood for either or both.

The way I see it though is like what someone else mentioned though that there is quite a bit missing. Creator being one of them. I am a Builder at heart, but not always wanting to build, it is just most times. Multiplayer that shifts a bit away from building and goes into social usually with a touch of the achiever. Exploring will always be the primary, as I explore the many materials out there to build with to spur my creativity in what I build or creative. So i guess the closest to creator would be explorer & achiever line, to do with interacting with the world by changing it to something else when or if needed; if not just adding to it, which is where the goal oriented bits would be.

Having an overactive imagination helps with my explorer needs, although I don't really experiment much; so a soften tone in that area while it being the strongest. Like to try out new things, but also like seeing what I can do with the old ones too, especially mixing the two. The only experiments I guess would qualify would be in design for buildings. I don't exploit glitchs, bugs, or the like, as I find that a little boring, and hence the reason for me saying not to the extreme end of that spectrum. One thing that is an explorer trait would be adaptability, which is something I tend to be mostly, when not building.

Somewhere in the middle of explorer and achiever. I'm hoarder, collector of items and information.

Socialisers = People who interact with others. They play the game for the sake of interacting with other players.

That description fits killers and achievers aswell. Killers would not have fun with nobody around to kill, and achievers wouldn't have fun with nobody to measure against. Killers (at least griefers) are often the most pleased when they read other people complaining about them, and achievers when they are praised by other people for their achievements.

That said, I have the game knowledge that you describe of a explorer, the competitive ambitions of an achiever but mainly I am a socialiser.

I'm a socializer in multiplayer, I run my own server even. Playing with friends definitely spices up gameplay for me and those along for the ride. Though in single player, I've always been an explorer, and I've been the same in real life. I want to see these amazing places and do amazing things with the world, such as build a floating fortress, or a spaceship to travel to another world.

It's important to nuance between acting and interacting. Killers act upon other players, they simply inflict their harm on them and that's that, while socialisers need to act with other players, a continuous feedback loop (bit of a tautology), if you will. The same goes for achievers: they don't need interaction to compete (for instance, being the first one to kill a newly released boss doesn't require interaction), nor do they have to use the game as a platform for competition (forums work just as well).

I'm probably a Socializer because I rarely "play" Terraria - Instead I spend time making mods, editing the Russian Terraria wiki and reading stuff on the forum.

With that said, I'm also a bit of an Explorer - I always get super excited about new content and I like to know everything about the game mechanics, the Easter eggs etc.

Explorer, I know more about this game than real-life. It's a shame there isn't a 'Creator' option, as that would definitely be my category.
