how to beat the devourer of gods, step one, go to the abyss and get the abyssal diving gear, step two, use the diving gear, the absorber, the leviathan ambergris, and the aquatic emblem, step 3, max an arena in the vast open area at the very start of the abyss, step 4 summon the adult wyrm by using the rod of discord, step five, kill the adult wyrm, he may hit twice the health as dog and have twice the damage with his head then dogs head but he is alot easier to dodge and can be killed by swimming in a circle while shooting back behind you at him (you may die if he telekentically throws you right into himself), step 6, get hhe wyrm to drop soul edge, step 7, kill dog with your 1211 damage sword. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fairly certain Spirit was met with harsh criticisms for having starbound ripoff sprites. Not quite sure why you'd even use that as an argument to defend your case.

And I say rip-off because the word(or phrase, rather) isn't limited to the narrow definition certain people may have. Something to consider: A word can have several meanings.

Now I don't have much to say about the abyss update itself that hasn't been said before. One of the concerns being the update was rushed. Tho it greatly saddens me to have seen this happen in calamity. There was a point in time when I thought this was a mod that puts quality over quantity. Can't say this update among several others hasn't disappointed me. Perhaps it'd be a nicer idea to polish your updates a bit before putting them out. At least to the point where you don't have a giant rectangle that potentially breaks your dungeon and literally recolored vanilla tin blocks for the biome's surface terrain.

Hmm, I understand your concerns and I agree. The update should have taken more time to develop, especially around the visual area. You see at the time a lot of things were going on with sprites and the focus on them was a bit scattered since there were 5-3 different priorities for sprites.

This was a bad thing, a very bad thing for the update. This left the community to be the main source of sprites because devs were working on unrelated things that shouldn't have been worked on over the abyss. A lot of sprites were chosen depending on who did them first as well regardless of quality, all this extremely hurt the visual quality of the update by a ton.

It's also the reason why the biome itself feels a bit under-developed, most of the update was unconcepted and wasn't as much of a team-effort as it should of been at all. I am also one to blame for this for I was a part of the group of devs that weren't putting the abyss on their number one priority and i'm sorry.

Like MountainDrew has said this mod is for fun but that doesn't mean we'll continue to let quantity over quality take over. Maybe the world-gen in total cant be revised, but all the sprites will be looked over and re-sprited in a future update by the devs themselves.

This entire conversation feels pretty pointless to me. The update was not rushed, and I'll say this for the final time. It's a mod, why are you all acting like this is some sort of work done by professionals? It's meant for fun, not to be perfect. Nobody is a professional here, don't pretend to be one.

If you're disappointed by it then voice your concerns and move on instead of harping on about them constantly.

This shouldn't be what modding is about...ever. This is just sad, and makes the entire community look bad to those that just want to have fun playing around with stuff.

I remember back when this thread was first started when everyone just wanted to help out instead of being a misanthrope that just wants to point out all the flaws without seeing the good :indifferent:

Hi, first time poster. Mister Drew, I like a lot of the things that have gone into this mod and thought I might share my ideas and suggestions. But then I combed through this thread, and yikes. If you want to make a mod that suits you, for you, everyone else be darned, that's absolutely your right. It's free content, and while that doesn't make it immune to criticism, you have absolutely no obligation to take anything anyone else says about it seriously.

Having said that though, since it's obvious that people are going to criticize the mod instead of offering the undying praise you desire, you might do yourself a favor and lock the thread. But I think it's incredibly arrogant to take this "why u mad bro? It's just a mod" attitude, when there are plenty of people who would absolutely love and appreciate the opportunity to create something that others care enough about to criticize in the first place. Surely YOU don't think it's "just a mod" if you're pouring so many hours of your time into it. You expect people to lavish you with praise for giving them something you worked hard on, but understand that they aren't trying to criticize YOU, they're trying to help you make it even better. You can disagree with their ideas, but if I were you, I'd be humbled that they cared enough to make the suggestions in the first place, rather than taking personal offense to it.

Hi, i wanted to ask a question.
when trying to generate a world, the world generator gets stuck on the crag creating part. is there any way to fix this? i really do not want to start a playthrough without the calamity mod.

If the update was not rushed then it just goes show how little effort was put into it. And this will remain true no matter how many times you say it. Yes, it is a mod, we get it. But when the author of a mod claims that the vanilla game is garbage and he could do a great job of improving it, people will naturally have very high expectations for what he does with the mod. You can't really blame them for that. No one's asking for perfection. They just want to have fun (which is what the mod is meant for apparently). And if you can't deliver that properly, people will obviously give their feedback.

People do in fact voice their concerns when they're disappointed. But if you keep disappointing them constantly, it is very normal for them to voice their concerns just as many times. Whether or not you consider that to be harping constantly is up to you. See, when you put a creative endeavor out in the internet, you're inadvertently begging to get feedback. Don't be surprised when your audience delivers. You know, how you used to bash on tremor on a regular basis (Not that there's anything wrong with it).

Harsh as it may sound, no one cares if you're trying to have fun. And if you truly do want to have fun without getting feedback from people, maybe don't post your endeavors on the internet where it can be publicly criticized.

I also remember when this thread was first started, when you took everyone's feed back (whether that be good, bad or everything in between). Not sure why you're so insecure about people pointing out all the flaws in something. But do consider this: pointing out flaws doesn't make someone a misanthrope. If anything it helps you know the flaws so that you can fix them.

I’d like to put my two cents into this convo. I’m not sure I know all sides of the story, but is it possible that Drew was being rushed by this community to set out this update whether it was or was not fully complete? I do feel bad for him given that Calamity is one of my favourite mods for any game of all time, and granted the Abyss could use some work, but I’m satisfied where it is at this point.

I get the feeling that both perspectives in this argument have good and valid points to make. Drew has a lot of pressure on him to make a good mod, and everyone makes mistakes, plus he also has to work on a job, which soaks up a lot of time; however, it is also necessary to consider the fans’ standpoint. If content is put on the internet, there will be feedback. That’s just how it is. But I think that both sides could be a little more civil about the whole issue.

Terraria Overhaul is the one causing the problem. Turn it off when generating a new world.
Yet another music update!
Only two normal songs left before I start work on the big stuff...
Nice track, but it's kinda sad to see you return to your fast-paced tracks. The slow and deep tones of wasteland and hadopelagic pressure were a breath of fresh air in all your tracks. Still - a good track!

Hi everyone, i got an important question to ask.
We are playing multiplayer with a friend (we are only 2 max on the server) and we never got a problem even using more mods (aka. thorium, another yet bosses health bar, etc etc etc...)
But now that we are starting to get in the hard bosses, with high power weapon, each time we summon a boss, particularly snake-shaped ones (like Storm Weaver) we got a huuuuuge lag during the whole fight, but when we try alone (even on the server), 0 problems and all's good during all the fights;
So, we were thinking that after Providence (not the 3 sbires, the huge one), due to large ammunition, hit-count, bosses and/or lot of sbires (+hits) might cause a lot of lags on servers (for exemple: beating the Ceaseless Void sbires with the S.D.M.G, Galactus Blade, Elemental Erruption, and some magic weaps. i can't remember) and that a bit annoying tbh, cuz i need to leave the server and my friend need to try to beat the boss alone..

Any help ?!? Thanks !

Not sure if this is a bug, or there is an updated version of Calamity somewhere, I don't know. But Aquatic Scourge does not spawn for me, whether naturally or with Seafood. I cannot get it to spawn at all. I've got the most recent version of Calamity on the Mod Browser, so I don't know what's up there.
