(A lot. I’ve lost count.

Let’s see:
1.Almost all of them are orphans
2. Ink had a father that hated him
3. Ink’s home burned down, and lost his foster mother
4. Weaver lost her brother, though she got him back much later
5. Weaver raised herself from the age of 13
6. Elijah watched his parents die in front of him, though one survived (unknown to him for a long time)
7. Elijah spent ten years of his life in hiding
8. Elijah lost his best friend
9. Sinbar was sold into slavery
10. Sinbar was treated poorly, and ended up having to murder his master to escape
11. Sinbar did bad things that he ended up regretting
12.Tantul was possessed by a dragon, and did things he regretted
13. Tantul slept for a long time in an ancient structure
14. Alan was raised to be a soldier
15. Alan was forced to kill his sister
16. Alan had to flee to another country
17. Samuel created dangerous nuclear weapons, and was almost killed by them
18. Samuel was kept alive and now lives as a mechanically repaired walking corpse
19. Elysia lost every other member of her kind
20. Elias lost his sister
21. Elias was trapped in an alternate reality
22. Cane lost his entire species
23. Alexander was murdered
24. Alexander was forced to keep living as an animatronic
25. Cent lost his friend
26. Cent is constantly in danger
27. Prince Ink lost his family
28. Prince Ink lost his home
29. Silent was abandoned
30. Silent lost his father
31. Spark was raised by someone too drunk to take care of him
32. Spark is constantly being hunted
33. Spark accidentally killed a whole building of people
34. Spark was sent to an island where he was going to be killed
35. Shader lives in the zombie apocalypse
36. Shader lost his love interest
37. Arcanine was raised in the woods in isolation

So, excluding physical suffering, 37 times. Including physical suffering, probably a lot more.)

(I was not expecting you to actually list them- I still probably win though, but then again I have almost 500 OCs at this point. And a lot have no known backstory...)

(Yeah, you’d probably win. XD Most of the suffering is in their backstories or is physical. However, the times they do suffer mentally are pretty severe)

(Okay, I get it!)
 
(Yeah...
To be fair, not all of them have suffered. Ethan actually thrived pretty well, which is why he got to the position he is. And let's not forget the Bloodshed Ink makes people suffer, rather than suffering himself.)
