[7/31/2018] If I ever find the will to continue with my suggestions, I'm going to completely re-format everything, as well as actually think of some elemental melee, ranged and (maybe) summoner weapons.

Elemental Equipment. Don't tell me you haven't thought of elemental equipment before. You're lying.
I thought elemental equipment would be a nice addition to the game, even if it does make damage a little more complicated (I try to avoid extreme complication, but chances are I :red:ed that up miserably), so I decided to try making a suggestion displaying some of my ideas. And they aren't just limited to Accessories, either; I'll be suggesting weapons, armor, and even miscellaneous tools.
Those will be completed after the accessories, though. I wanna make sure the main course is PERFECT.
So sit back, and get ready to read a lot of colored text. Oh, and, uh, look at some sprites made by Yours Truly.

New Gemstones!


Onyx | Aventurine | Jade
Yes, that's right, I'm adding new gemstones first and foremost, so as to have a few more elements to work with.
Onyx and Aventurine, which can be found growing in the Corrupted/Crimtane Underground Desert the and Hallowed Underground Desert, respectively. Onyx may be hard to spot, but there's no way you'll miss the Aventurine.

Then we have the Jade, would be found in the Underground Jungle, growing through mud in a similar manner to Chlorophyte, though they can also spawn placed on blocks like any other gem. They kinda
really blend in with Jungle Grass, so keep those peepers peeled.

These three gems are going to represent 3 rather prominent things in Terraria: Darkness, Light, and, uh, Nature.
These are used—along with the pre-existing gemstones—in a bunch of new elemental gear, but they can also be used to craft everything the other gems can, like Large Gems, Gemspark blocks, Stained Glass walls, etcetera.

On the bright side, you now can fall on enemies to crush them, dealing a good amount of damage while granting you a split-second of invulnerability. Any nearby grounded enemies will also take damage and be knocked back when you land, possibly getting Muddied.

Shockweight Boots


Crafted with Sinkstone Boots and a Lucky Voltshoe.

These boots will make you fall and sink incredibly fast (100% faster, to be exact [also, yikes]). Your movement speed and jump height are also now reduced by 66% (more yikes), and swimming accessories will do absolutely nothing (a metric ton of "yikes").
However, you can now fall on enemies to crush them, which deals a good amount of damage while granting you a split-second of invulnerability. Any nearby grounded enemies will take damage and be knocked back when you land, with a small chance of being inflicted with Muddy.
Also creates a shock wave upon landing that travels up to 6 blocks away from where you landed, which damages enemies the higher you fall from and inflicts them with Electrified and (rarely) Paralyzed. Landing inside water will create a wave on the surface which damages enemies while inflicting Soaked, which is a new water-elemented debuff that heavily slows the target while making them more resistant to fire and vulnerable to electricity.

Creates a 6 x 7 Polarity Bubble around the player, which damages and electrocutes any enemies that attack it as well as reflecting any projectiles that hit it. Each hit it takes drops its energy by 15%, and if its energy drops to 0%, the shield disengages, and will take 4 seconds to recharge. The timer for the recharge will be reset if you get hit.
The shield can also recharge when not fully drained, if you wait 8 seconds.
The shield will NOT fully protect you from damage; laser beams and electric attacks will pierce right through the Bubble Shield and still hit you (the shield takes damage as normal).

Player projectiles can be reflected if both sides have turned PvP on; reflecting a player's Medusa Head attack will damage and petrify ANYbody in the vicinity who's turned PvP on.
If equipped (not in your inventory), the mirror will straight-up grant immunity to Stoned, 20% damage resistance against light attacks, and 40% immunity to light debuffs). You'll also have a 12% chance of reflecting any projectiles that hit you back the way they came.

Displays everything and allows you to teleport to your spawn point by using it.
Right-click swings the tablet, reflecting projectiles and magic it hits back to where they came from with double damage and velocity. The tPad is slightly bigger than the Sacred Mirror; this makes hitting magic projectiles easier, at the cost of a bit of swing speed. Try not to mix up the buttons, lest you make a premature house call.
When equipped as an Accessory, the Bunny tPad grants immunity to Stoned, as well as a 25% resistance against light damage, 50% resistance against light debuff infliction, 10% resistance against all other debuffs, and a 15% chance of reflecting any projectiles that hit you back the way they came.

Hoppy Saddle

Can fall 62 blocks without taking fall damage. Fall damage is also decreased by 20%, and the frog can jump on enemies to hurt them.
36-block jump upwards, holding UP and RIGHT (While facing right) when jumping will launch you at a 45-degree angle, travelling 24 blocks north-east before falling.
Mount has tongue attack that reaches up to 8 tiles horizontally, which does 50 defense-piercing damage and will swallow up any enemies who are either as big as or smaller than the player, where the frog will then rapidly deal damage until either 5 seconds have passed or the enemy is dead. Can also eat enemies slightly bigger than the player if they have 325 HP or lower.

If the mount swallows a Butterfly, Firefly, or Lightning Bug, you gain a 20% Movement speed and Jump height bonus for 8 seconds. Statue critters disappear when tongued.
The Tree Frog deals double damage to bug enemies, and grants you 25% damage resistance against hostile flora and poisonous enemies

I bet everyone wanted to see this thing. Though, I bet nobody expected it in a thread relating to elemental damage.
Dropped by Martian Officers with a 0.5% chance.
Creates a 4 x 5 Bubble Shield around the player, which damages any enemies that attack it as well as destroying projectiles it touches. Each hit it takes drops its energy by 15%, and if its energy drops to 0%, the shield disengages, and will take 3 seconds to recharge. The timer for the recharge will be reset if you get hit.
The shield can also recharge when not fully drained, if you wait 6 seconds.
The shield will NOT fully protect you from damage; laser beams and electric attacks will pierce right through the Bubble Shield and still hit you (the shield takes damage as normal).

Man, I didn't realize how barebones this thread was, as cool as some of the accessories looked. Working on other threads actually gave me a crapton of ideas for accessories here, especially with the implementation of Onyx and Ultruine (a pun on Ultrabright and Aventurine) in my Old-Console Content: Buffed and Repurposed thread and of Jade in my Throwing the Better Gear into Terraria thread, as they allow me to assign Wind and Nature to different things, as well as with Shadow and Venom, and Ice and Light.
Changes
  • Changed Emerald back to Wind (from Wind and Nature), and Amethyst to Venom (from Darkness)
  • All of the Super Gem Staffs have been resprited and reworked. The magic hats have also been reworked, to a lesser degree. Still in the process of adding the Onyx, Ultruine and Jade stuff.
  • All the Base Elemental Accessories have been completely changed. There were, uh, kinda overpowered, for how you get them.
  • Resprited a lot of stuff. My new favorites are the Molten Rose, Molten Turtle Shell, and the Eskimo's Glove.

  • Replaced the Voltdash Boots with the Roller Skates. 'tis now a Wind accessory.
  • The rings allow the infliction of elemental debuffs again, but the chance of doing so has been lowered to a total of 5%.
  • The Emerald Frog Leg and the Hoppy Saddle have been resprited to look more like a Red-eyed Tree Frog. Now the mount summon is a giant, more limber version of the Frog critter!
  • Let's just pretend I know what I'm doing with the Fatal Ring/Necklace.

    • The Electro-Field Magnet - Attracts any item from farther away, and creates an electro-magnetic forcefield to reflect projectiles and electrocute enemies!
    • The Rainbow Ring - An amalgamation of all the elemental rings, this increases all elemental damage and the duration of all elemental debuffs, and allows the infliction of many said debuffs!
    • The Rainbow Necklace - In conjunction to the Rainbow Ring, this necklace grants some resistance to all elemental damage and debuffs!

Fire Ruby Staff


Crafted with a Ruby Staff, 10 Adamantite Bars and 6 Souls of Light.
Shoots a fiery-red Ruby beam that pierces four times and causes a small, 3-block-radius explosion at the end. Its attacks momentarily inflict Blazing, a fire debuff that deals 15 damage per second via 5 ticks of 3 damage, and that finishing explosion will instead inflict Burning for 2 seconds on all enemies caught in it. The explosion is also triggered when the beam hits a block.

Electro Topaz Staff


Crafted with a Topaz Staff, 10 Palladium Bars and 6 Souls of Light.

Fires a vibrant yellow Topaz beam with a pierce of 5 that bounces from enemy to enemy, ignoring a LOT of defense. The beam can bounce between the same few enemies, though the projectile will prioritize untouched targets first, making it kinda like the Huntress's Laser Glaive from Risk of Rain 1. Unlike the Laser Glaives, though, if there is only one enemy nearby, the beam will stay on and repeatedly damage the same enemy unless another one comes by or the beam reaches its limit. The beams each have their own invincibility frames, allowing multiple Super Topaz Beams to go around without interfering with each other.

Fires a vibrant Emerald beam that bursts into a gale on impact, which flows 8 blocks straight in the direction the projectile was heading, instantly dealing moderate knockback and damage to all enemies caught in it. If the beam deals a critical hit, the entire gale will, as well.
Basically, the beam has infinite pierce, but only for 8 blocks after hitting the first enemy. Said enemy actually gets hit twice, by both the beam and the gale it creates.

If the beam hits a block, it will burst and damage anything within a 7-block radius, a much bigger area than the beam would normally be able to cover.

Toxin Amethyst Staff

Casts a lavender Amethyst beam that splits into 6 much-smaller beams on impact. These secondary beams fly out in all directions but are evenly spaced out in a hexagon formation, each dealing 1/2 of the main projectile's base damage. They are otherwise identical to the main projectile, except that they fade away after 10 blocks and can each pierce once.
Every 6th shot, the main beam and its secondary beams become a LOT more vibrant and all inflict Venom for one second. The main beam will split into 8 secondary beams instead of 6, which fly out in an octagon formation. Each of the smaller beams will deal 3/4 of the main projectile's base damage instead of 1/2, and are each still capable of getting critical hits.

This repeats until the beam's pierce is exhausted.

The vines are 8 blocks in length and linger for as long at the Nettle Burst's vines. The beam itself will despawn after hitting 6 enemies (the vines don't count towards this), hitting a block, or travelling 65 blocks. Like the Magnet Sphere's projectile, the beam will despawn if you try to fire a second one. Unlike the Magnet Sphere's projectile, the beam is affected by liquids.

Also, maybe something to balance: Celestial Rune Shield provides immunity to Cursed Inferno, so why shouldn't it also negate Ichor debuff?

I love anything elemental and this would really make those gems useful in Hardmode as well! I did have a small gripe about the elemental staves, though... Why are they still just generic gem blasts? If they've been enchanted with elemental powers, shouldn't the projectiles reflect that? (Super Ruby Staff could shoot a flamethrower-style stream of fire, Super Topaz Staff could shoot lightning, etc.) Then of course I'm pretty sure that Celestial Gem and Celestial Rune Shield would be broken beyond belief, (Imagine equipping both of them at the same time!) but other than that I like the idea! Best thing about it is that if they decide to add more gems, it would mean more uses for this too!

(PS. You accidentally put "Protects from The DARK" into the Frost Ring's tooltip. ;))
