Anyone else enjoys the franchise or at least part of it?
I feel alone here ._.

I used to like the franchise, just like you, then they took an Ubisoft in the challenge and storytelling.

The first and second were the best for me, the AI's been watered down with each new game, and Ubisoft just went and outright drowned the AI in the ocean, along with the storytelling.

I agree with you, 100%.

Ubisoft sure did ruin the gameplay and the story. (Faceless... worst thing I've heard so far)
They decided to focus more on graphics rather then gameplay...
DAMN YOU ADVANCED GRAPHICS LOVERS!

As the random yet semi-famous quote goes:
- "Buying a game for their graphics is like watching [censorship] for the backstory."

Like most PS3 games, that's why I don't own one.
These are interactive films, not games!

At least up to HOMM IV the races felt different. In V, the different skills and units don't matter as they all stomp on the campaign just as easily.

My favorite was a map from HOMM 1, "The Claw." The map made sure you weren't disturbed by the enemy by placing dragons in its only choke point - And dragons in that game were The unit. But of course, if you rushed things and killed the dragons with just enough troops to make it, you would be left unprepared for the three uber-AIs waiting to stomp on you. Fun times.

Precisely. Stories, mechanics and the sort are more of a high priority than making CGI eye-candy or hours of texturing.

I don't know about HoMM I or HoMM II, I think I tried the first one on a pocket PC, not sure.
What ruined the fourth for me was the mass change of EVERYTHING, I still loved the game, but in my opinion it wasn't part of the HoMM series.

The 3rd game was my favourite. I spent so much time playing it and with the map editor. I still don't know what that Market of Time building was supposed to do though....

The Market of Time was in the unofficial expansion Wake of Gods, it was used to forget unwanted skills.
Ever visited a witch hut and got Eagle Eye? Yeah, exactly.

I never had Wake of Gods the Market of time was in the Shadow of Death map editor. Also I always sent one of those cheap heroes I never actually used for combat to all the witch huts first :P

HOMM2 and HOMM 3 are my favourites ;) played it as a Kid ( 8-9) years old , still coming back to them and i had good memories
peace

Yes but there are other ways you may get them (dem scholars or :red:ed up lvl ups)
And was Market of Time is SoD? Never saw it.

Ya it was in SoD but I don't think it had any purpose.

Edit: Actually according to google it was in Restoration of Erathia :/

I love HOMM 4.

The expansion campaigns are extremely difficult

I have HOMM 1-3, 3 being my favorite but 2 for the soundtrack. I mean I LOVED 2's st especially the beach theme, so calm.
Speaking of Wake of the Gods, that stuff gets complicated to play, but the added hell you can do with a Commander who also levels makes the tactics of using it awesome. Always maxing Attack and Defense I believe was my first step to make most other stacks pitiful.
Funnily I play magic and I still get more Attack then most and throw nukes in small spells, like Magic Arrow, 1300 damage and most lvl 1-4 creature lost 40-100 unit stacks... imagine the implication using Implosion. ;D Even my lvl 1 upg creature could tame the mighty dragon given the chance.

So how many people actually know Heroes Chronicles exists

I know HC exists. I don't remember ever playing it.

Here's a little something for the laughs:
