Weapons & Equip More Rapier-Type Weapons

Currently, there are already Rapier-type weapons in the game. However, it is limited to exclusively the Pre-HM short-swords and the Starlight. Short-swords are pathetic, and the Starlight can’t carry an entire subclass by itself. So, I think there should be more!

Like a few of my other suggestions, the main purpose is just the general idea; however, just begging for something without examples is pretty bad, so I’ll add some here. Remember: these are just examples of more rapiers. These don’t really need to be the ones actually added.

With that said, let’s begin!

Scarlet Stabber
Form: Weapon (Melee)
Obtaining: 5% chance from Angry Bones
Appearance: It has a scarlet hilt, a grey blade, and bones as the rapier hand guard.
Damage: 38
Use Time: 15
Knockback: 2
Range: 3 blocks
Attack Style: Short-sword
Projectile: N/A
Special Effects: N/A

Adorned Rapier
Form: Weapon (Melee)
Obtaining: 12.5% chance from Pirate NPC
Appearance: It is a fully gold rapier with the hand guard adorned with diamonds and rubies.
Damage: 67
Use Time: 18
Knockback: 4
Range: 3.5 blocks
Attack Style: Short-sword
Projectile: N/A
Special Effects: N/A

Midnight Rapier
Form: Weapon (Melee)
Obtaining: 20 Souls of Fright + 10 Souls of Night + Scarlet Stabber (HM anvil)
Appearance: It has a red hilt and hand guard with a blade slightly more pink than the night’s edge.
Damage: 57
Use Time: 15
Knockback: 3.5
Range: 3 (5 w/ projectile)
Attack Style: Short-sword
Projectile: A red beam comes from the sword, effectively increasing range by 2
Special Effects: N/A

Indigo Piercer
Form: Weapon (Melee)
Obtaining: 5% chance from Any Armored Bones
Appearance: It represents an upgraded Scarlet Stabber but with an indigo hilt.
Damage: 50
Use Time: 15
Knockback: 5
Range: 6 blocks
Attack Style: Short-sword
Projectile: N/A
Special Effects: Has an upgraded version of the Blood Butchered debuff stacking 6 times, each dealing 15dps each stack

Judging by the Scarlet Stabber's stats, I assume this is meant to be a pre-HM dungeon weapon so you probably meant that it's supposed to drop from Angry Bones.

Midnight Rapier's crafting recipe looks a little weird with the gold/platinum shortsword in it, so I'd recommend swapping it out and replacing it with the Scarlet Stabber.

Indigo Piercer is bleeding-themed so it would be more appropriate for Rusty Armored Bones to drop it instead of Blue Armored Bones.

  • Odds upped from 2% to 5%
  • Changed the short-sword in the Midnight Rapier recipe to the Scarlet Stabber
  • Corrected the enemy the Scarlet Stabber drops from
  • Made the Indigo Piercer obtainable from Any Armored Bones

I like this idea. I'm not really in love with the idea of there being a dedicated subclass for it, as I think "subclasses" are a generally overrated idea in Terraria beyond what's already in the game, but the actual suggestions here – the weapons – are good.

The main reason I feel that there should be a subclass is because there is already an entire Use Style dedicated to Rapiers, but it’s only used by the aforementioned Starlight and ore short-swords.

This idea is so cool! I always loved the starlight, although spears, which attack similarly could use some love. (Cough cough make daybreak legally a spear cough cough)

Thrown spears or the rapier stabbing style could also be used for rapid quick spear strikes

Have you ever wondered why melee is no longer a melee?

Something that you might like is that there's a lot of Short Blade weapons made for Parry or as secondary weapons

For example:

Sword breaker was a dagger made with the porpose of break enemies's swords, its name is an exaggeration because a good sword won't be break with this, but it was great to paralyze the enemy weapon or to Close Combat

Parrying Dagger was use to capture the enemy's blade in its handle

And the kodachi (小太刀/Short Sword) was an old japanese weapon, no one knows exactly for what or for who was use (teenagers, farmers, gifts?, no knows), also there're the Tantō (短刀/Little Sword, use to do the Harakiri) and the Wakizashi (脇差) or Shōto (小刀) (Small Sword), a secondary Samurai's weapon

I’ve heard of daggers being used as a secondary, but not the others. Thank you for telling me!

There's also the triple point double edge weapon, what is ban in almost all countries and conflict do to the unrepairable damage that it can cause

And the Balisong, also banned in a lot of countries for... Some reason, it's not more dangerous that other CQC weapons, so why is even banned? No one knows
