Items Rod of discord in grapple slot

This would be nice, sure, but it would definitely affect game balance and I really don't think the Rod of Discord needs to be any stronger.
It's way more powerful than every hook and I think needing to swap to it in your hotbar for a moment is a good handicap as it is.

I could get behind giving this functionality to the Rod of Harmony on the other hand (but with some way to justify it, I mean sticking a staff into your hook slot is kind of weird). Since it's post-Moon Lord, the Rod of Harmony seems to be intended to be used as a more convenient navigation tool, so I don't think it'd hurt anything. If modders wouldn't like that well that's their problem..

Maybe the Hook of Dissonance could have a Post-Moonlord upgrade that works like the RoH but in a hook slot?

Rod of Discord is balanced by having to switch to it before use.
However, it's actually not that strong in vanilla anyway due to being straight up unnecessary or unhelpful for every enemy's attack patterns in the entire game except Moon Lord, so I actually don't think that's a major problem.
It might be a problem in modded attacks where RoD is more practical, but modded content should not be taken into consideration when balancing.

I like that suggestion and I really don't think that having or not having a hotkey should be a point of balance
Balance should stay with enemy attack patterns, health and dmg

I'm going to have to disagree with you here. Rod of Discord is the strongest item in the game. It's a get out of jail free card for just about every scenario. The number of situations in which Rod of Discord can't help is practically zero. Especially if you're playing on higher difficulties, where it becomes even stronger due to it often doing less damage to you when spammed than whatever attack you were hoping to avoid.

Honestly I agree that, for many players, the Rod of Discord isn't the most helpful thing in combat, but I would think the reason for this is how you need to switch from your main weapon to use it. This means you need to think it out in advance (even if it's just one second of delay), which isn't always useful as many foes in the game have unpredictable attack patterns and combat in Terraria tends to be more reactionary.
Changing its use to a hotkey would make it as simple and thoughtless as a dash, which would likely have a pretty big impact.

to aim the grappling hook that little thing is very small and hard to do precise movements which makes sense becos with grappling hooks you just have to point but with rod youd just end up having no aim this is on mobil btw

I found that an effective way to aim grappling hooks on Mobile is by turning the grapple button into a joystick.
