Spazmatism
Hello there!
This is the main thread for the Terrxplosion Mod.
This mod requires TModLoader, which can be viewed and downloaded here.
Please note that this is a
Work-in-progress!
It does not currently have the thousands of items of Thorium, Calamity, or Spirit, nor does it have crazy bosses; it's made by 1 active developer in his spare time. We have over 220 items though!
Anyways, here's a slice of what we have so far :
Enemies and bosses will drop new items. Here are some examples:
Wasp's Lance (from Moss Hornets, deals high damage and inflicts Venom)
Frozen Yoyo (from Ice Slimes)
Bow of Cthulhu (dropped from the Eye of Cthulhu)
Hunk of Flesh (dropped from Wall of Flesh, summons a pet Wall of Flesh)
Yo-yo Bot 2000 (dropped from any Mechanical Boss, shoots lasers at passing enemies)
Laser Bow (dropped from Retinazer, turns wooden arrows into Laser Arrows)
Spaz Lung (dropped from Spazmatizim, a flamethrower with additional long-ranged fireballs)
Prime Vice (dropped by Prime Vice, a flail like the Golem Fist)
Prime Laser (dropped by Prime Laser, fires lasers that pierce multiple enemies)
Prime Saw (dropped by Prime Saw)
Prime Cannon (a rocket launcher dropped by Prime Cannon)
Probe Staff (dropped from the Destroyer) (summons a probe to fight for you by shooting lasers)
Cultist Yoyo (dropped from the Lunatic Cultist, launches bolts of homing lightning)
Royal Fins (dropped from Duke Fishron)
Oceanic Trident (made with royal fins) (shoots a water bolt)
Coral Sword (made with Royal Fins) (inflicts Poison)
Oceanic Shield (made with Royal Fins) (increases Magic Damage)

Melee
Boomerangs
The Terrxplosion Mod adds 6 new pre-hardmode boomerangs: Iron, Lead, Silver, Tungsten, Gold, and Platinum.
These ore boomerangs can help in the early-game, especially for melee characters.
Broadswords
If you're playing melee in Post-Plantera Hardmode, ever wonder "What can I do with Spectre Bars if my tools are already satisfactory?" or "What am I supposed to do with all this chlorophyte?" or even "Now that I have turtle armor, what do I do with all these turtle shells?" Now each of the main sets that you would use for armor to fight Golem have matching swords!
Turtle Sword, Spectre Sword, Shroomite Katana and Spooky Wood Sword. The Spectre Sword shoots a homing lost soul, the Spooky Wood Sword swings incredibly fast, and the other 2 do high melee damage.
The Wrath of the Gods
The Wrath of the Gods is the Crimson alt to the Night's edge. It's a slower version of the Night's edge that does more damage. It's used to create the True Version, which in turn can be crafted with the True Excalibur to make the Terra Blade. In case you're wondering, it's same recipe as Night's Edge but with the Blood Butcher instead of Light's Bane (you can no longer craft the Night's Edge with the Blood Butcher). Below is the Wrath of the Gods and its true form, respectively; the latter shoots lethal yellow beams.
The True Terra Blade
I know, it's overdone. Every modder adds their own "true terra blade" to be the "ultimate sword". But I like this incarnation of the most oversuggested weapon in the entire community, so here it is.
To craft it, first you'll need some Terra Cores. These are made with a little bit of everything: 5 stone, 3 steel bars, 3 hellstone bars, 3 hallowed bars, a chlorophyte, shroomite, and spectre bar, 3 beetle husks, and 3 royal fins at an Ancient Manipulator It's expensive, but worth it.
The True Terra Blade is crafted with 3 of these cores plus a Terra Blade. It's better in every way: it deals way more damage per hit, shoots 3 beams per shot instead of 1 every other shot (although only 1 beam can hit any given enemy because of piercing mechanics), and swings faster. However, it is not the final sword.
That honor can only go to
The Terra Buster
This behemoth of a sword requires not only the True Terra Blade and 5 Terra Cores, but it also requires 15 of each fragment, 15 luminite, and a Meowmere and a Star Wrath for good measure. It's expensive, but worth it. It's the most overkill sword in the entire game. Instead of shooting 3 terra beams, it shoots 5. Instead of piercing 5 enemies, it has an infinite pierce that you only really need if you want to 3-shot the Destroyer. If a True Terra Blade has 800 DPS, the Terra Buster has 1600. Limits are meant to be broken, and this breaks all of them.
Shortswords
Because a copper shortsword is never enough. You need the hardmode equivalent of a copper shortsword!
Cobalt, Palladium, Mythril, Orichalcum, Adamantite, and Titanium shortswords, plus Excalibur Jr. (actually has more DPS but less range compared to Excalibur) and Leaf Dagger (shoots projectile) are all brand new shortswords.
Spears
Ore spears! Prehardmode:
Iron Spear, Lead Spear, Silver Trident, Tungsten Spear, Gold Spear, Platinum Trident, The Thrasher, and Molten Trident.
Hardmode:
Turtle Spear.
Yoyos
The most abundant weapon type of this mod is Yoyos. Here we go, pre-hardmode ores:
Iron, Lead, Silver, Tungsten, Gold, and Platinum Yoyos, plus the Sun's Throw (made of Hellstone).
Hardmode Ores:
Cobalt, Palladium, Mythril, Orichalcum, Adamantite, Titanium, and Hallowed.
Ranged
Bows
The Spectre Bow is a rapid-fire (though low ranged) bow. Only craftable bow in the mod not part of a set of items.
Guns
The Meteor Chain gun is a wide-spread gatling gun. Deals more damage per hit than the Minishark, but the lower fire rate makes it less useful against unarmored enemies.
The Chlorophyte Pistol is a standard pistol with good DPS. Pretty basic, but still a very useful gun. Decent fire rate.
The Turtle Shotgun is a powerful shotgun that's slow and not auto-fire but has a high damage output.
The Spectre Assault Rifle is one of the more unique weapons in the mod. It shoots 2 to 4 low damage bullets at a very fast rate and turns musket balls into homing blue tendrils. These function identically to chlorophyte bullets. It shoots additional homing souls for extra firepower. However, the damage per hit is low to compensate for the mass of homing projectiles it spews.
The Shroomite Rifle is an accurate, powerful, fast firing gun that turns all bullets into high-velocity bullets.
The Shroomite Sniper Rifle is a craftable sniper rifle. It deals high damage, however it has no scope.
The Rifle is a rapid-fire gun sold by the Arms Dealer once Plantera is defeated. It functions like the megashark, but you can upgrade it into
The Hellbender
The Hellbender is a rapid-fire shotgun, spewing out bursts of 3 shots several times a second. It also shoots an additional exploding fireball.
Magic
The Starry Blast rains a burst of stars from the sky in a spread. It has high damage on multiple targets however doesn't do too well against a single target. Shreds the Destroyer like the Daedalus Stormbow.
Crafted with chlorophyte and rich mahogany wood, the Elder Staff shoots a spread of 3 jungle bolts when you use it. It deals high damage per hit and fires at a modest pace.
The Flameburst is a spell tome crafted with a Spell Tome, some Souls of Ignite, and Hellstone Bars. It launches a piercing, lethal fireball at foes.
The Luminite Lightning Rod is a staff which shoots a bolt of lightning, travelling at the speed of light and bouncing of walls.
The Luminite Staff is a staff which shoots 3 infinitely piercing luminite bolts. Great for crowd control.
Phantasmal Eyes rapid-fire bursts of 3 homing phantasmal eyes. Great for fighting bosses.
The Starry Wand is a cheap, modest magic weapon, made of wood and a single fallen star. Good for early mages.
Throwing
We have Silver Shurikens, Tungsten Shurikens, Gold Knives, and Platinum Javelins to toss around.
Ammo
Arrows
Laser Arrows
Fires lasers at passing enemies.
Bullets
Frostburn Bullet
Made of ice and inflicts 'Frostburn'.
Hallowed Bullet
Does high damage but has no special effect.
Hot Shot
Made by heating Musket Balls in a campfire, inflicts 'On Fire!'.
Scorching Bullet
Inflicts an exclusive debuff: Scorching, which does rapid damage. Scorching is to On Fire! what Venom is to Poisoned.
Starglow Bullet
High damage bullet. Made with fallen stars.
Wooden Bullet
Super cheap but only does 1 damage. Great in a pinch (if you're out of bullets but have wood in your inventory, you can make stacks of these at a crafting table).

Coal
Coal is used to make steel bars. It's found anywhere about as easily as iron. Black ore.
Steel
Steel is crafted with 5 Iron ore (not bars) and 3 coal at a furnace. It's a similar strength to gold and can make some powerful early-game items.
Knightly Sword
A large, over-sized sword with low swing rate but high damage.

A powerful spear about the same power as a Platinum Trident, but bigger.
Steel Shotgun
Fires a slow, powerful burst of 3 bullets. Great with Wooden Bullets as an early-game ranged weapon.

Steel Pickaxe
A pickaxe that can mine Demonite.
Steel Armor
Solid armor that comes in Melee, Ranged, and Magic flavours*.
Steel Shield
A good shield for fighting Pre-Hardmode bosses.
*yes I did spell armor with no u and flavours with the u, so what? Terraria uses no u in armor but I use u in words like "colour" and "flavour". I only left out the u because Terraria does too. Also, Google needs to stop trying to autocorrect non-american spelt words.
Uranium
An ore that spawns after Skeletron has been defeated and needs Demonite or higher to mine, weapons inflict 'Radiation Poisoning' when hitting an enemy. Similar strength to Hellstone, however when compared Uranium gear is faster with lower damage instead of being sheer, slow brute force like Hellstone.
Uranium Sabre
A fast, moderate damage auto-swinging weapon. High reach.
Uranium Trident
A good trident that inflicts 'Radiation Poisoning'.
Uranium Bow
A fast, auto-firing bow. Arrows shot from this inflict 'Radiation Poisoning' as well as having their normal effects.

Thanks to Re-Logic for making a great game to mod! Obviously, I couldn't have done this without them.
In a similar vein, thanks to the TModLoader Team for making TModLoader! Terraria can be pretty hard to mod without TModLoader, but they made it easy!
Also, thanks to @Catspider @MYTHIC HAZE, @Toad God, Small Watch and @Zoomo for providing sprites for the mod!

If you think anything should be in the mod, have found a glitch or exploit that should be patched out, think that something should be rebalanced, or have any questions, don't be afraid to comment about it!
E.G.:
I think that a post-plantera, pre-ML Megashark-style gun should be added to the mod. There's no accurate, rapid-fire gun during that section of the game.
Titaniumskin is too good for that little material. Add more daybloom to the recipe!
Also: If you have any constructive critisism about the mod, no matter how harsh, feel free to comment it so we can work on it!Why do you add so many shortswords?
Constructive critisism:
Constructive (but phrased in a not-so-nice way):I feel like this mod doesn't have unique enough swords.
Non-constructive "critisism":Your sprites suck. This mod would be vastly better if it had better sprites.
