tModLoader The Thorium Mod

This. I like this. Maybe for pre-hardmode it works with special turret minions and robots (that don't do summon damage, but can be buffed as minions or something?) and then in hardmode, there's a variaty of mecha-mounts that they can buff to some degree as well as turret units? The mounts could have weapons similar to the laser-drill mining mount, but of course be combat related and remove your weapon options as a balancing act?
Well as far as the turrets and such I figured they'd just use range buffs unless the coding wouldn't allow it, and just keep upgrading them through out- figured it'd use the sentry summon limitations so you'd only have one of each to balance. You'd build the base with some iron, wood, a minishark and maybe a radar (to find enemies) and just keep upgrading as more material were unlocked. I also figured before rocket turrets we'd have grenade lobbers (As you don't get rocket weapons till pretty late) but I'm liking @Gratuitous Lurking's tenis ball idea with that- like an automatic pitcher that lobs explosives lol!

There should be a turret item it needs 30 iron bars 40 wood and 1 min shark and makes a 2000 hp turret that's good for protecting bases
I was thinking more portable, companion type turrets but that's a cool idea too!

I love how much of a response this has already gotten! Like the mounts, I figured it be one or two but you have a whole progression lined up lol!

EDIT: TINKERER- That's the other word I was trying to think up, thank you that was driving me nuts!

So, 1 month without Terraria because I can't install ****ing Net Framework and other sh!ts.

Hey, I loved the idea, and suddenly I had a bunch of stuff pop in my head out of nowhere! Shame I don't get this inspired for some of my other projects ^^;

Heck, it wouldn't even have to get so complicated (Not that what’s been said so far wouldn’t be fun). Just make more gadget-like versions of current items- Like mix the snowball cannon with illegal gun-parts to craft a freeze ray to damage and slow enemies. A “Malfunctioning gizmo” you’d throw that sends of arcs of electricity at near-by enemies like the magnet sphere. Just power armor, not a mount kind but just mechanical armor; maybe it makes you run faster or jump higher or has standard bonuses but looks like an engineer built it. The giant wrench on the mechanic’s back as an accessory. Or just make her funny boomerang wrench available. A tesla coil zap gun, like the bubble gun with sparks or a auto-target arc of lightning. A cog yoyo that covers enemies in oil, or sends off arcs of electricity like the gizmo I listed. A steampunk trumpet gun!

Even just some more vanity sets would be nice. I know thorium doesn’t have a lot of Easter-egg items but the vanillia game does, so I don’t think they’d be out of place. There could be items to look like Tron Bonne, Roll, Gaige, almost ANY of the Cids from Final Fantasy, or go Dead Rising style with a servbot helmet! Or just the Steampunker's actual outfit, not the sort-of similar one we can buy now. (Though you can kind of already do Winry Rockbell with existing vanities: Buccaneer Bandana, the Weapon Master vanity and one of various pants.)

Eh, either way, I'm just doing a bit of random thinking and bleh for shenanigans and fun times, and because I'm kinda having some fun time imagining mecha combat and making turret minions utterly insane

Still, I'm sorry/not sorry for the infodump of ideas in the spoilers X3 I'll stop after this, I promise!
Walker Mounts - I kinda went a bit cheesy and borrowed the same theme as Kingdom Heart's magic Heartless with the naming... Still, general thoughts apply through em all. Earlier mecha would have a limited weapon option, whereas later ones would be duel-wielding mecha weapons that compliment each other.

Steel Overture - Walker (Biped), 5 Blocks High. Fires cannonballs.
Thorium Caprice - Walker (Biped), 5 Blocks High. Uses twin Thorium Revolvers.
Meteor Sonata - Walker (Biped), 5 Blocks High. Jetpack (50% Power), 2% Damage Mitigation. Fires Meteor Shot at pistol speed, as well as having a Starcannon special attack with a long cooldown.
Cobalt Concerto - Walker (Biped), 6 Blocks High. Wings (100% Power), 6% Damage Mitigation. Fires
Palladium Beat - Walker (Quadraped), 6 Blocks High. Wings (100% Power), 8% Damage Mitigation. Features sword slashes and a 1-tier power shield similar to Solar armor for dashing.
Mechanized Duet - Walker (Biped), 6 Blocks High. Wings (150% Power), 12% Damage Mitigation. Twin's laser and chainsaw arm.
Plantara's Elegy - Walker (Quadraped), 7 Blocks High. Wings (150% Power, 14% Damage Mitigation, attacks with Spore shower fired from above and left to drift, and launching Plant Vines like Golem Fists.
Interstellar Seranade - Walker (Quadraped), 12 Blocks High. 18% Damage Mitigation, Laser Beam from below and laser gatlings for directed combat.
Lunarian Solo - Walker (Jet Propelled), 10 Blocks High. Full Flight Capability, 20% Damage Mitigation, Focus Blade (Melee attack similar to the Arkhalis, Homing missiles and vulcan minigun shots for ranged attack. Defaulting uses Master Ninja Gear to dodge and evade.

New Turret Weapons - The new ranged and melee turrets that could work. As expected, the summon items are all tools of some kind!

Popgun Projector - A wooden wrench? What?
Creates the Popgun Turret. Popgun turret fires balls with sizable knockback but little damage.
Siegemaster's Calibrator - Required to do some calibrations.
Creates the Catapult, which lobs large rocks at an arch. Rocks have similar physics to the Rolling Boulder trap.
Molten Pipewrench - A wrench that emits great heat.
Creates the Inferno Turret, a low-tier flame projector.
Familiar Fender-Denter - A black wrench that seems oddly familiar...
A TF2 Reference! Creates a Lvl 1 Sentry in a position. Over time, the Sentry evolves, eventually reaching Level 3 and gaining new attacks as it levels!
Destroyer's Collar - Grabs ahold of mechanized monsters for your own amusement!
Creates the Strange Bumper, a round device out of Destroyer parts that bounces off enemies that walk into it violently.
Golem's Visage Parts - Allows for placing the ghastly visage of the Golem.
Sets up a Golem head that fires eye blasts faster as it sits in position.
Martian Tesla Mounter - Carried by Martian Engineers.
Places one of those nasty Tesla Turrets down under your command!
Mounted Megashark Stand - It's best not to ask how this happened...
Places a Megashark that fires Lunar Bullets in position, to rapidly chew through enemies.

Mounted Combat-related Accessories

Mech Pilot License, Grades F->D->C->B->A->S->SS->SSS
An accessory craftable to add subtle buffs to the Walker mounts specifically. Upgraded with various items found in progression, and the buffs only activate when Mounted. Buffs HP regen, movement acceleration, damage mitigation,

Firework Handler's License
Increases the power of Rocket based projectiles. Useful both for the nut in Shroomite that goes for the Stynger as well as the Engineer.

Turret-based Engineer Armors

Technician's Exoskeleton
A late-game armor for an Engineer, granting increased amounts of Turrets and damage as well as a personal turret as a set bonus.

Combat Mount-based Engineer Armors

Steampunker's Overcoat
A low-tier piloting outfit, offering some general buffs for a Mounted warrior. It's set bonus would be hightened regeneration when Mounted.
Pilot's Softsuit
A late-game armor for Pilots, that offers greater buffs for Mounted combat. It allows a Heroic Sacrifice buff, allowing for a mech pilot to survive a fatal blow with a small amount of HP and a reactor explosion effect on death, doing great damage to nearby enemies. 5M Cooldown. Enemies are also more likely to target you.

Oh, I wasn't saying stop! Not unless the mods or Sam tell us to for what could eventually become spamming- I was just commenting simpler things too in-case we scared anyone away lol `:p. I love brainstorming and imagining this stuff too, but maybe we should both wait until we get some input to see if Sam even likes the idea lol.

I tried to use both Thorium and Tremor mod and create a new world but the loading is stuck on 'Generating Structures'.

I noticed that the Terrarium items have that Expert at the bottom of the tooltip, and I figured you'd probably like to know that you can have the rainbow name without that by setting the rarity to -12. This code prevents prefixes from breaking it.
public override void UpdateInventory(Player player)
{
item.rare = -12;
}

Pretty sure they are Expert nonetheless. A component of the Terrarium Core is the Enigma-something, which I'm pretty sure is Expert only drop from Lunatic Cultist.

That would be a pretty big detail to leave out in the content list, so I'd have to assume that the Enigma can drop from the Lunatic Cultist even in Normal mode.

"Early Hardmode Underworld boss"
I call bull. I already killed two of the mechanical bosses with ease and this guys still gibs me after maybe 10-20 seconds. He does freakin half my health in damage, every single hit, and I can't just stay back and hit him with ranged cause of his charging attack. Even buffed to the teeth with powerful weapons, potions, equips, and minions, I still have trouble surviving. I mean granted, I got him to about 2/3 health in the short time I was alive, but still. How the heck is this guy supposed to be "early" hardmode? What where you on when you were balance testing this boss?

I hate to say it man, but Ive killed him with a clockwork assault rifle and cobalt armor and was half paying attention. Not to mention half the videos I see of people killing him have zero trouble at all. Try making a bigger arena and plenty of room to fly away/over his laser clouds and blasts.

HappyDays farmed it with a flesh armor set up not too long after defeating WoF :

Ooooh. The Beholder boss? He's super easy to kill. I just kept him close to my hell path I sued for the WoF and jumped over him when he charges at me. The cloud minions he spawns are almost useless as you'll rarely be hit. If you're having this much trouble then I have no idea what to tell you. Also he gets faster and stronger in his second form.
