Honestly my favorite difficulty is expert, it is the perfect balance, not too easy, not too difficult, if I want a challenge game in another seed or use mods, master is basically expert more difficult and with other aesthetic things, I know that in master there are mounts but I am not very interested, and classic becomes outdated very quickly, Especially if you play with other people, it becomes very easy, journey does not count, journey is journey.
The point is, would I like to see what is the most beloved difficulty?

I spend the most time in Journey mode because I collect and test stuff a lot, but my favorite difficulty is probably Expert. I like Master for the extra accessory slot though.

If I don't count journey, it would be expert. Expert is just well designed imo. I usually play on master, but again, Expert is better in terms of difficulty design.

Legendary. It is, like, the final destination you should try to reach if you think you're good terraria player. Especially on gfb, it is absolutely new terraria experience.
On second place is Expert, well designed difficulty increase which also have cool loot. It will make bossfights a lot harder without making them No-Hit bullethells.
Third place is Classic. It is just, a default game which is pretty easy for better players, but alright for the new ones. I don't really play it unless I just want to make a fast and chill playthrough.
Fourth place is Master. It is just bloated Expert with some cool looking relics and pets. Can stat incease be called good difficulty boost?
Last place is Journey. I am not a builder, so I never player it and it is useless for me

Expert for normal playthroughs. Occasionally Master.
And Journey mode all the way for building

Expert Mode usually.
Classic is fine for starters, but the game has made the standard experience over the years progressively easier.

Classic is the best for people with mental specialities like autism and ADHD.

Strongly disagree here, I’d argue anyone who fixates on this game rapidly grows out of that mode and those two disorders are extremely likely to fixate on it and play on expert or master tbhClassic is the best for people with mental specialities like autism and ADHD.
Those two disorders usually don’t inhibit your ability to play games by themselves.
I personally play on Master for the maxxed out accessory slots and access to some game mechanics which are absent from journey mode.

As someone with both ADHD and Autism, yeah, I get really bored on Classic. Master is often too much for me (I have one active run and one completed run on that mode), but Expert is the perfect mode for me. I prefer having at least some challenge in the games I play and will often look for the "not baby mode" option as soon as I'm allowed to.Strongly disagree here, I’d argue anyone who fixates on this game rapidly grows out of that mode and those two disorders are extremely likely to fixate on it and play on expert or master tbh

I do still enjoy higher difficulties as long as I don't do it a lot. (I've been enjoying Death Mode on old Calamity a lot even though it's... really hard in my version. My version is from when there were still the enviromental hazards in Death Mode)
I always play master, i like having a reason to grind for thingsHonestly my favorite difficulty is expert, it is the perfect balance, not too easy, not too difficult, if I want a challenge game in another seed or use mods, master is basically expert more difficult and with other aesthetic things, I know that in master there are mounts but I am not very interested, and classic becomes outdated very quickly, Especially if you play with other people, it becomes very easy, journey does not count, journey is journey.

Well, we also got progessively better at the game.standard experience over the years progressively easier.
But i guess Expert is considered the new "classic" experience for many and for me aswell.

Master! Since the day it came out, I never really switched back to other difficulties, the reason being its popularity back in the day — I just felt like joining the hype train! Then it just became natural, and going back to Expert felt unnecessary. Master has become my normal, if you like.
Talking about character difficulty, that would be Mediumcore no doubt. I just love the feeling of being in danger all the time while still being given a 2nd chance, allowing for an extra challenge in case of items loss.

Master. I can't be missing out on the fun pets and mounts.
Also I've played it so much that I don't even notice the sponginess anymore.

Same. But I'm kinda bad at the game so more journey than expertI spend the most time in Journey mode because I collect and test stuff a lot, but my favorite difficulty is probably Expert. I like Master for the extra accessory slot though.
I love master for the challenge. expert is good because my friends are all noobs and hate playing the later difficulties, classic is too easy(i once killed the eater of worlds on the second day, before killing the eye of cthulu), and journey is only good for showcasing builds because beating journey has the same credit as turning cheat commands on for your minecraft speedrun. although journey does have weather and time control, which can be nice when trying to farm for that one item with a super low drop chance in a specific event, like waiting for sand elementals to spawn only to have your friend steal the forbidden core so he can make a gun.

Classic is too easy.
Expert is pretty much perfect.
Master and above are kind of tedious and limiting.
Expert is my favourite difficulty as it adds a lot more interesting consideration to the gameplay, but doesn't beef up enemy stats to the point that some playstyles and weapons simply become unviable. Terraria is best enjoyed as a game with a lot of freedom, and Expert mode's difficulty increase keeps the challenge up whilst also keeping it fresh with new boss AI, reducing the grinds of rare items, and generally making a lot of nice smaller scale changes too. The new boss loot makes each boss feel more unique and worth fighting.
I feel that Master mode could really learn from Expert mode's design by doing a lot more than just increasing enemy stats, which creates a really boring experience, especially early game. Even the special seeds with higher difficulties changed up the gameplay enough to surpass Master mode's challenge in both difficulty and style, which leaves Master mode feeling like the odd one out, and rather unfinished as far as gamemodes go. If I were to play Master mode again, I think I'd rather play something like For The Worthy which makes more tangible changes to the game.
