3DS 3DS KNOWN ISSUES

Nice to know that devs are on here reading all this but give no statement to the crashes. Only to stuff that no one cares about like vanity and crap xD
They don't say much about it because the response will still be the same: They are still looking into it but haven't found the definite cause of the issue yet. They have said many times they are looking into it, if they haven't said anything more then it is only natural to assume that they haven't progressed much rather than thinking that they are "avoiding the issue" or "ignoring us". They don't have time to respond to everyone here, they have work to do and many other threads to look at as well. They most likely can only check the threads quickly each day and don't look at it as often some of us might do. I am pretty sure they take into account most of what they read anyway.

The crashes are a serious issue and they know that. They don't want to dampen people's experience on the game and everybody hates having dissapointed customers. They are trying to solve the crashing issue, but we don't know when the fix will made.

Pretty sure there's no way you'd be able to get dev armor anyways.

dev armor is in the wii u, and people have found ways to get it. It shouldn't be too hard to find it if its there if you know how to get dev armor in wii u. understand what i am saying?

Not true at all. Gf and I got same o3ds xl to play this game for a trip to Europe coming on September. We both play on ps4, but can't bring it with us. We have exactly the same hw, same firmware 11.0.33U, and only terraria installed. And still, her crashes every 5 minutes or so without any apparent reason in game. Mine crashes once every day. She tried creating new worlds, new players, but still crashes. We are really frustrated since we got the 3ds just for playing this game.

What about your SD cards? My wife and I play together, she with a 2DS and me with my New-3DS (standard size). She used to have crashes, only in Terraria - but they disappeared when I upgraded her SD card. It's now a 64GB SanDisk UHS-1/U3 (that's like a class 10 afaik). I later discovered her old SD card was some chinese fake crap that tried to look like a SanDisk, was labelled 32GB but was actually 8GB.

So I've been farming for the weapon the diabolist drops, and sometimes when the dark caster shoots its attack, it turns into a dungeon spirit when I hit it, is that supposed to happen?

The total results I got about the crashes from the poll I made elsewhere on this forum website and based on reddit comments I got:

Single Player results

Never crashes: 16
Only crashed once / couple of times in total: 14
Crashes once a week: 2
Crashes once or twice a day: 4
Crashes every session / every hour or two: 8
Unplayable / crashes around every 30 minutes or less: 6

Not many people talked about multiplayer, but a couple of people said the game didn't crash at all...?

People didn't talk much about which consoles they used either. 2 people said the game never crashed on the original 3ds. 2 said they never crashed on the new 3ds. 2 said it crashes once a week on new 3ds. And 3 said the game is unplayable on the new 3ds.

Results are rather mixed it seems. But we could tell that anyway from people's comments on this partially thread.
Me and my brothers play multiplayer a lot, and usually for us it crashes on the host system a lot and the host system is usually a new 3ds xl since only the one brother has a 3ds xl, hope this helps

This crashing issue has been around for quite a while now and I refuse to believe that they made NO progress at all, ... Because that would mean it'll take an eternity until I can finally enjoy the game the way it's meant to be enjoyed...

it's possible they figured out the reason of some (wishful thinking: all?) of the crashes but haven't said anything yet because it's coming in the next update

But how would you be able to get it? It would be very hard.

I dont think the update will come without fixed crash bug.
The question is when will it come...
I just know terraria on 3ds and just WITH crashes (now for about 3 months) and it's killing my fun of it :'(
I really hope they'll fix it as fast as possible...

one thing I'm hoping they add that shouldn't be too difficult are Crimson seeds, I really wanted to bring Crimson into another world

or is that possible another way I'm not aware of?

I'm pretty sure you can get those many different ways actually. Easiest way is killing DoC in a crimson world or you can by as many as you need from the dryad on a blood moon.

I've talked about the crashes a lot. There's no new news. Some people seem to have it bad, other people get no issues. There's no apparent pattern to it, but we're continuing to look and all leads from TCF are greatly appreciated. The priority for the update is stability, but until we're confident we've found something there's nothing new to add. Sorry about that.

This is great info, and is certainly a line of inquiry we're pursuing. My gut tells me this is part of the problem, but may not be the whole issue. Terraria 3DS hits the SD card harder than a lot of other games because of the the size of the save files. We don't save anything to the game cart at all, there's not enough room.

If anyone our there that's been seeing the regular crashes has the ability to try another, quicker, newer SD card then please do so and report back. @ me so I don't miss the updates.

@Deanzor - When I got the game, I had the micro SD card that came with the New 3DSXL(Around 1,500 blocks because I transferred some games). It was unplayable. Crashed almost every 10 minutes.(4gb card) However, my brother had a 32gb card(around 100,000+ blocks) and he didn't know how to transfer data between micro cards. So, he gives it to me:p. I know how to transfer, and after doing so, I played the game, and it didn't crash for about 2 hours. After that it crashed less until it just stopped. I think it was a coincidence, though.

Both our SD cards are 4GB, even the same model. In one device it rarely crashes, while the other used to crash every 5 minutes.

Could it be the class of the SD card rather than the size? I mean there is enough size in a 4GB card to store the required data.

The problem could be caused because by some bottleneck in the transfer bus, however I also read that 3ds sd card is capped, so it won't benefit you much having a Class 10 card.

@Deanzor, I think we did some progress on reducing the amount of crashes on one device. Our case is interesting because we bought our devices together, same model, even same color and we are playing with the SD cards provided by the vendor (4GB).
We both got the same FW update 11.0.33U so, basically these are the same devices.

We tried 3 things.
- New worlds
- New accounts
- Repair the game through eShop (re-download)

1 and 2 didn't produce any effect. But repairing the game through re-download considerably reduced the number of crashes to the point that yesterday we were able to play with only 1 crash in between of a 4 hours session.

I was kind of surprised by the fact that the re-download of the game produced good results, since I assumed that we were just downloading static executables. If this is the case, then the improvement was only luck. Otherwise, it could be an entry point to find out the bug.

If you need any help from our side feel free to PM. I'm a computer engineer so I may be able to help.
