So, compared to the alternates, Cobalt, Mythril, and Adamantite are extremely lame. I think they should have interesting armor bonuses like the alternates. However, I don't really have any (good) ideas for what they could be. So, what would you like to see for improved standard HM armor abilities?

I think some sort of small orbiting shield could be cool for Cobalt, for example.
 
I'm fine with them now. There pretty good starting armors and before long, you start getting the sweet armors.

Yeah, but people who get Alternate worlds start getting "the sweet armors" right as they enter hardmode, where as Standard world players have to wait until further down the line.
 
If the stat bonuses of the original HM ore armors were adjusted so that they'd be slightly superior to the alternates in all respects, then I think they would be able to compete with their 1.2 brothers. Either that, or a slight nerf to the alternates' stats to account or their set bonuses.
I don't think that the original HM ore armors need something like the 1.2 HM ore armors' set bonuses, but they should have some kind of buff so my reaction when I get Cobalt isn't ":red:".
 
i don't mind getting the old ores they are fine to kill the bosses with and they are good anyway
 
Palladium is really neat for the heals and makes boss fighting a breeze. Oricalchum is amazing because it almost gives a free star veil. And Titaniums set Bonus is the most OP set bonus IN THE GAME IMO.
So yea, small nerf plz...

Cobalt is just bad. I'd take Crimtane/Molten over it any day and just wait until I have enough for Adamantite/Titanium. Palladium, on the other hand, is a powerful set that can even compete with Adamantite.

Mythril and Orichalcum are in the grey zone for me. My HM mining session usually consists of quickly getting a Mythril/Orichalcum Pickaxe then I go on a long trip to acquire >500 Adamantite/Titanium.

Titanium is just insane. It makes the most evasive nigh invulnerable. However, it still lacks in DPS in comparison to the end-game sets. I usually find myself using Titanium over Chlorophyte/Turtle. With Adamantite, I usually dump it for Frost Armour and use that until I get my hands on Shroomite.
 
For some reason or another I didn't really pay any mind to the different stats given to you through the alternate hardmode armors.
 
Yeah, I prefer the alternates, they're pretty cool. Fact.
 
I think that the originals are ok, but the 1.2 alts are far more interesting.
As far as upgrades, I think the originals could use a slight stat boost, but nothing more. Not all armors need crazy effects, imo. :D
 
Might be just me, but I find overall Adamantite is way more awesome than Titanium armor.

The bonuses are more helpful to the specific class you play (ammo conservation, etc) and the gunner helm makes you look like IRON MAN.
