these sprites are the worst i've ever seen, and that's saying something. use 2x2 pixels and don't use jet black. ever.

You can do better? No.
actually, i CAN. here's an example:
Shield of Spazmatism.png

that sprite is for T.G.E.M.. it's better than any of the sprites this guy can make.

That is not constructive in any way. If you don't have anything constructive to say about a mod, then don't post in that mod's thread.
ok, i'll add something... constructive to the comment.

I think you misunderstood. Adding 'use 2 by 2 sprites' is not constructive and is just an attempt to circumvent the letter of the rule while not following the spirit of mutual respect that is required on these forums in general and in the modding section specifically, especially when your next post takes another dig at the Thread Creator for not being what you consider a good enough spriter.

Let me be very clear. Since it appears you have nothing helpful to contribute to this thread, I strongly suggest you do not post here any more. If you wish to continue this discussion, then that can be done by sending me a Private Message (link available in my signature).

If you have MS paint on PC which is its format program. You should use the pencil tool then to the right you should see a size setting click the second on the top.

That's how I do it for MS
MS Paint is microsoft paint
i dont use it i use Paint.NET

Yeah, they realize that. But if you're having problems with Paint.net, then maybe it's a better idea to try something else.

Although what I've noticed on the forum is while you often ask for help, you rarely thank or even acknowledge those who helped you in exactly what you did ask help with (which in this case was two friendly people). Instead you attempt to "correct" the one guy who offered you a worthwhile alternative, as if he said something wrong. Generally speaking, if you want help from others, then showing appreciation to those willing to help you goes a long way.

Also, since you're obviously still attempting spriting, I echo others in seriously recommending the Terraria spriting guide on the forum. It'll show you exactly what you need to know about spriting for this game, it's extremely well-done, and doing tutorials is one of the best ways for newcomers to get a heck of a lot better.

Piksel and Gimp are confusing
i can tell you how to use piskel, if you want to change color click on the 'primary' color which is on the right close to the bottom. i recommend using the secondary color for erasing only. the tools on the left should be fairly self explanatory. the transform tools are also self explanatory. preferences is just options for the grid. resize is self explanatory. save changes the name and saves the image. export downloads as a .png or .gif file. import lets you start from an already existing image. this concludes the piskel tutorial, have a nice day.

my best (and only) advice, is instead of trying to make completely unique sprites, try re-coloring/re-spriting an already existing sprite from terraria to get th hang of shading, once you have re-sprited a vanilla item/NPC to a decent degree, then you may be able to make good sprites from scratch.
