Texture Pack display name changes

While working on my texture pack (I'm changing the Queen bee into an in-joke between myself and some friends), I was wondering if I could change display name example:
Hover over queen bee and it displays a different name?
or
change the name of the Sparkling Honey item in game/ its description?

I'm not a coder, so I'm wondering if I could mess with the pack.json file or if I could add something to the pack that wouldn't require making it a mod.

Considering they are labelled as resource packs internally, i'd imagine you could with a similar method to textures. Just need the right file name and folder structure. Haven't tried it myself though, so i could be mistaken
