Backstory: Back in Gotham City, his hometown, he was a gardener. But when the Demonlord was defeated, spacetime became unstable, and many portals opened. One of said portals led to Calamity Mod, and the Eye of Xeroc* came out. Xeroc wanted to make a garden. A twisted one, laced with power. John Garden decided to help Xeroc make said garden, but in order to do so, he had to destroy Gotham City. The Gardener failed to do so, and after being defeated a second time, he accidentally fell through a portal which led to this world. Idk how or why, but he ended up becoming a contestant in the Dehydration Games. *Note: I could be wrong, but I think according to official Calamity Mod lore, this eye being the Eye of Xeroc, and Nameless Deity being Xeroc, are not canon.
