Game Mechanics Lots of Ideas, Mostly about Ores and Crafting

Igno

Golem
New world type: XL

  • Only world type that can hold all ore types (i.e. can have copper and tin)

  • Is as big as a Large world with a Small world tacked onto it

New mechanic (not really a mechanic, but whatever):

  • Expert-mode XL worlds can have all ore types as well as both worldly evils.

  • Will have copper, tin, iron, lead, silver, tungsten, gold, platinum, demonite, crimtane, meteorite, hellstone, cobalt, palladium, mythril, orichalcum, adamantite, and titanium.

  • Copper and tin can be smelted together at a forge to get a bronze bar, iron and lead into a hunk of steel, silver and tungsten into a shinimite bar, gold and platinum into a heaviminium bar, and cobalt and palladium into raw talcimite.

  • Once you have 20 raw talcimite, you can use it and a forge to craft a talcimite forge which can be used to combine mythril and orichalcum into raw endorite and adamantite and titanium into raw pwnium. It can also combine demonite, crimtane, and hallowed bars (and a void fragment) into a bar of malice.

  • Void fragments are crafted at an ancient manipulator with 10 of each kind of pillar shard and are used with crimtane, demonite, and hallowed bars at a talcimite forge to make a puritalcum bar. You can only craft armor with these bars, and you make a Terrarian Hood, Cloak, Boots. The Hood has 30 defense, the Cloak has 40, and the Boots have 25. They give different buffs based upon what kind of weapon you are using. If you are using a melee-based weapon it gives you the same buffs as Solar Flare armor, but slightly better. If you are using a ranged-based weapon, it gives you the same buffs as Vortex armor, etc.

  • Raw talcimite, endorite, and pwnium must be smelted at an adamantine forge to get talcimite, endorite, and pwnium bars.

  • A forge is crafted with a furnace, some torches, and iron ore. In order to use the forge, you must put a hammer into a special slot in the crafting UI at the forge. The higher tier ore you want to combine, the better the hammer has to be (i.e. a bronze hammer cannot be used to craft endorite).

  • Bronze-level tools are similar to iron and lead tools, but are better in some ways and not as good in some ways, same with steel, shinimite, heaviminium, talcimite, and endorite. Pwnium-level items are better than hallow, and tools/armor made with bars of malice are better than post-Moon Lord armors and tools.

Unfortunately, the devs have stated that they experimented with worlds bigger than large worlds but they got too buggy. Good ideas, though! They just aren't feasible.
