Weapons & Equip Mechanical Boss Loot: Ultimate Soul expansion and balancing

Premise:
Ever since 1.2, Mechanical Boss Souls have been lacking in uses. Between the three of them, they are used to craft a grand total of 9 items (excluding Biome Keys and the Naughty Present), and only 6 of them are unique to any one Soul. Over the course of my time here, I've focused on Skeletron Prime and uses for Souls of Fright, since it is by far the most in need of new uses. More recently, however, I decided to put the pedal to the metal and give all of the Mechanical Boss Souls equal treatment. Thus this thread was born.

Summary:
Notice how the thread title says "expansion and balancing." What do I mean by that? Each Mechanical Boss Soul should be used to craft about the same quantity of the same types of items. In this suggestion, I've gone with the following grocery list to give each Mechanical Soul: four primary weapons (Melee, Ranged, and Magic, with each Soul majoring a different class), a Summoner weapon, and at least one utility/accessory. This suggestion would bring the total number of practical Mechanical Soul recipes from 9 up to over 20. Hooray for variety!

Prime Cannon fires a cannonball every 2 seconds or so.
Deals AoE damage.​
Also, if suggestion of mine for Skeletron Prime improvements gets added:
Vice/Saw will sometimes be replaced by a Mace/Blade.
Functionally identical to their counterparts.​
Laser will sometimes be replaced by a Machine Gun.
Attacks faster, but deals less damage.​
Cannon will sometimes be replaced with an Enforcer.
Fires a spread of bullets instead of cannon balls.​

As soon as I saw "more uses" and "souls" in the same sentence, I thought... yes. Thanks for this suggestion SzGamer227. I'd be dead without it. This should be in a mod. Chop Chop, People. THAT WAS A HINT.
 
I love it all, so much support! For the Skeletron Prime staff I think it should just be called the Prime Staff. Also the Twin Blade is really cool! (The green projectile should be Cursed Flames, to fit with the theme)
 
I saw the Twin blade and thought, "Oh god no." It's a good concept, but... the beam sword is a BIT grindy. RNG will screw us over easily on that one- but if you find a fix, I'm in.

Also, the scourge downgrade is a bit sketchy to me- biome chest weapons should stay unique in my opinion- they're legendary weapons locked in a dungeon!
 
I really like all these ideas, especially the Exoplate. The Mech Hand staff for SKP seems a little OP, but i mean what do i know right?
 
i think mech boss loot is fine the way it is, but the amount of souls required for crafting should be increased.

Yeah, no. I have to disagree with you. Requiring tedious grinding for items that don't currently require tedious grinding to get is a terrible idea.

i don't want to make it that bad, but about 2 destroyer kills are usually enough to craft all the hallowed stuff and stuff with the souls, and i usually have chests overflowing with boss souls that i never use.
 
Might I suggest an automatic weapon to be made with a Soul of Might and and a sniper rifle with a Soul of Sight?

Edit: Nevermind, read http://forums.terraria.org/index.php?threads/new-summoner-and-utility-drops-for-pre-hm-bosses.638/ I'm assuming it is a sentry type summon just like the Handy Staff. Question about it still though, do they stay with you? Like instead of staying in one area like the other sentries they will stay orbiting around you.
