Micro-stutters experienced in game

I've owned the game for acouple weeks now but in the past few days I've been experiencing a lot of micro-stutters while in game. It's hard to describe exactly what they are like but for a second or so the frame rate drops significantly, and they occur quite often, this isn't a problem with my laptop's specs as they are way more than the requirements for terraria, and ca nrun othe rmore demanding games fine.

Any suggestions?

nevermind I fixed it, just had to turn off frameskip, the 144hz panel on my laptop doesn't go well with frameskip
