I got a new pc about a year ago and decided a few days ago to play terraria on it, so I installed the game and for some reason when I try to launch it, it asks me if I would allow steam to make changes to my computer. when I press yes it tries to download Microsoft XNA 4.0, which I already have along with the .NET framework. Then the installer closes and steam goes 3 seconds of saying the game is running and stops. I have no idea why it does this. There is no error message. I also have never launched the game on my current device, so there is no config file. (also this might not contribute to the problem but I'm running windows 11)
Specs:
Processor AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor 3.59 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Edit: I found a video with files that made the game run after doing the XNA thing, and I am glad to be able to play again. Hope the video I found helps!
