Terraria State of the Game - April 2022

Not open for further replies.
Tecnicly not true. Are we ever going to get all the exsclusives that were in the old consoles?
No. Unless they change their mind about it, which seems unlikely.

Most of the console-exclusive content was added back when Terraria PC was thought to be completed -- remember all the jokes about the final final final final final update, they started very early. So some tougher monsters and a new boss were added to the console version to make a better-rounded game so the mech bosses were not the end of the game.

When Terraria PC resumed development, they decided to do their own thing and not to adopt the console content. Eventually, it was removed from the console versions -- at least, those that were still being updated -- and so we do have content parity because all currently-supported platforms have the same content. There's no exclusive content anymore. PC doesn't have Ocram and neither do current-gen consoles and mobile.

Edit: they did adopt one part of the formerly console-exclusive content: the extra soundtrack. Though it took a while to get them in, and at first they rolled out "their" own ice, ocean, and space themes. (It was all the same composer anyway, which probably helped them accept to put the console tracks in eventually.)
The only thing missing is ocean varient of torch XD
That one already exists :)

Though note that Torch God's Favor won't change into these automatically, because these ones works underwater.
I like for each of my characters to stay on their home planet... But now that I've got a heap of different characters, I struggle to remember which world goes with with character.
So I have a request / suggestion: after selecting a character, the world selection screen should highlight the world that the character most recently visited.

I'm excited to try the new update when it is ready. I kind of like balance / polish more than massive amounts of content; so I'm very interested to see how the balance changes work out. (And I hope my suggestion is considered!)

Yes, that would be excellent. Or maybe an idea to assign a home world to a character.
Good Stuff. Mobile and Console players get access to the new buffed debuffs like cursed inferno and acid venom. New players of these platforms get to experience a friendlier underground desert as well. Old post but still valid to mention.
The new coral furniture is a fantastic addition, but I would look at the current furniture sets.

Each wood has a full set of furniture except plain wood which has no tub, toilet, or luminous furniture.
Likewise, it may be your last chance to loot pine furniture and stone brick furniture.
Greetings Terrarians!

The team has made a ton of progress on the Labor of Love update over the past month - and the finish line is in sight. Recently, we have been conducting a huge playthrough with the entire team alongside our trusty playtesters. What are we testing you ask? Well, it's a combination of all of the new stuff we added... and we are playing it on a brand new world seed that is unlike anything Terraria has seen before! What will await you in this new adventure? You will have to wait and see on that, I'm afraid. In the meantime, enjoy some Fart Kart...

Hello everyone!

We have some definite progress this month that you will want to check out - tML will be doing monthly previews starting in April... and an update on tML 1.4 timing. Want all of the details? Read on!

April has been a big month for tML and it's looking like May will be an even bigger month. Some major mods have started the port to tML 1.4, and they have provided valuable feedback in the process. We'll start May with a focus on a built-in mod porting tool, tModPorter (thanks to Chik3r and Tomat from the community!), which will automate small code changes which have to be made in thousands of places, reducing the amount of manual effort required from modders. We ask modders to keep an eye on tML development, come chat with us in the Discord, and start porting their mods to 1.4 to be ready for when tML 1.4 launches!

As always, you can keep track the current progress and such more in real time at tModLoader/tModLoader (But note that the completion percentage doesn't mean anything, because issues and PRs don't have weights.)

Developers who are willing to contribute may do so by doing PRs to the tModLoader/tModLoader branch. (See tModLoader/tModLoader)

The Re-Logic team does not directly develop TML, so bugs with TML are best reported via the links below.

Parity at last! Well at least for a little while...

That's right Console Terrarians, in case you missed it, the 1.4.1 - 1.4.3 updates went live for Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch yesterday! So, at least until Labor of Love comes out, all Terrarians are at parity in terms of the core content of the game. Want to learn more about what all is included in this latest Terraria update? Click the banner below to head over to the official launch thread to get all of the juicy details!

Rest assured that once Labor of Love is out, the team at DR Studios will be hard at work to once again restore parity to the world of Terraria!

The team is feeling pretty good about console at this point, but we know a handful of bugs and issues are still wandering out there in the wild. We have most of these documented (again, the best way to make sure your issue is seen is to file a Bug Report in the TCF Bug Section by pressing the button below!)

Hello everyone!

Not to be outdone, Mobile Terrarians also received the 1.4.1 - 1.4.3 update yesterday! That's right, after yesterday's events, all actively-developed platforms of Terraria are on the same content version. This has only happened once for a VERY brief time (and to be fair, Labor of Love will break it again until we can catch back up), so this is certainly a momentous occasion. Of course, once Labor of Love is out, we will begin the work to get everyone back to parity as quickly as possible.

This update also comes with official support for Mouse and Keyboard on Mobile - in case you missed that last month.

I know a suggestion is far fetched right now, but I’ve never made one in all the years I’ve enjoyed terraria. If there’s any time, it’s now.

I know what can go in is probably small so I’ve limited my imagination to these few:

(Gun)Firework gun:
Shoots pretty looking fireworks. I loved the sword reworks and their aesthetics. I’d love to see some of the zest here.

(Decor)Plasma orb:
Just like the ones we have to decorate with in real life, players could go near this to attract bolts of light to themselves.

(Wall) jellyfish:
Glowing walls similar to that of a glow stick. Similarly, I wouldn’t mind an animated wall with jelly fish swimming through water, but that’s a lot more to ask for lol.

(Accessory/QOL)Kings Staff:
A golden staff topped with a jewel. Magnificence for the most royal. Similar in appearance to Ruby staff, albeit much thicker and held straight. Faintly glows, as well as shown in the offhand of player. It allows the player to briefly stun weak enemies in an immediate close radius for one second (allowing you to move past them unharmed) as well as making NPCs follow you.
-would love a way to finally lead npcs. This staff could be somewhat difficult to obtain so that it comes later on when it is much more useful.

I’ll add more later. Busy!
As a strong critic (out of love), who has given these guys a lot of crap over the years with some of the knuckle-head decisions they've made....

...PARITY ...at at long last!

I never really imagined it!

I dunno what to say other than, thank you.

Thank you
