Chapter fifty four: Burn it with the fire of 1000 suns
His Nemesis soon arrived at the Corrupted desert, and the very fabric of reality seemed to... warp. The skies turned red, the moon grew gigantic. Oh, and balls of fire began to rain out of the sky, to fall in the distance. Taking a step back, all of these changes stopped, and even reverted to normal. Shrugging it off, His Nemesis pressed onward, into the domain of the Solar Pillar.
The first danger became quickly apparent: a huge flaming Centipede went flying overhead. Covered in searing hot spines, it glanced at the intruder, and ignored them for now. Experimentally, His Nemesis took a few swings at it, which had no effect what so ever. Sighing, they gave one last swing, before turning away, not seeing the Crawltipede writhe in pain as the Beam struck it's tail.
The next threat to reveal itself was what appeared to be a flying boulder... With molten spines, and glowing orange eyes. These beings could phase through the Ebonsand below their target, and charged at them, shrouded in a wreath of flames. Yelping, His Nemesis stumbled to the side, and took the thing down quickly. Next came Something similar, except in humanoid form, and without the ability to phase through the ground. These Srollers spun towards His Nemesis, only to find themselves face to face with a Beam from the Influx Waver.
His Nemesis stood their ground, not giving an inch to the Solar Clan. And then the Soldiers came. The Selenians came marching down, blades in hand. Leaping at His Nemesis in a flurry of spinning heat, the barrage was so potent even the Beams that were fired at them were turned back on themselves. His Nemesis di not notice this though, and simply kept swinging, hoping to bring them down. As they focused on the Selenians, the Corite got a good hit or two in, wearing them down.
And last came the Drakomire beasts, the land bound dragons. These were occasionally ridden by Selenians that had mastered the Spear and directed the Drakomire beasts in battle, and had been dubbed Drakanians for their skill. And then the Drakomire beasts opened their maws, and let loose a torrent of fire. These fireballs were not very potent though, and were often destroyed just by the frantic swinging of the Influx Waver, as His Nemesis tried to push back the Solar Clan, already reaching for their second potion.
A Corite charged from the side, and His Nemesis leapt into the sky to avoid it. And promptly was ripped in two by the Crawltipede up above. Grumbling profusely as they reappeared a few moments later, His Nemesis set out for the Corrupted desert once more, and ripped through the awaiting army ith abandon. Dozens of them fell... And then so did His Nemesis. Again.
The Moon Lord applauded the wonderful efforts of the Solar Clan. The battle tugged back and forth, with the Selenians falling, but His Nemsis barely felling another 2 dozen before finding themself back at the Village, a slight twitch developing in their eye. Most battles were a one sided slaughter, or at the very least a drawn out struggle. The Moon Lord watched in amusement, as the Solar Clan put up the valiant fight.
Upon their next foray out, His Nemesis fought all the way to the Solar Pillar itself. It was still surrounded by a shield, but a badly weakened one, as the power had to be redirected to calling down more troops, and supporting them in battle. Once His Nemesis was close, the Pillar itself fought back, calling down balls of firee from the sky. These were about as effective as the Drakomire's, rarely landing hits.
His Nemesis fought on, and the shield wavered, then dissipated, sending a gentle wave out as it fell. His Nemesis turned, and struck the Pillar directly, trying to bring it down. They did not get far, due to a few Corites erupting from the ground at that very moment.
It took two more trips to bring the Pillar down, His Nemesis gone through the far side of livid, and now in a cold rage. How fitting, after all they had put the Moon Lord through. The Solar Pillar ruptured, and space distorted once more, rumbling as the skies returned to normal, and the gate through space closed, blocking off any further reinforcements.
The Moon Lord flexed a hand, sending a sliver of power down to the world. And he met no resistance, none at all. A tendril brushed past His Nemesis, and them blanked out for a moment, their mind going numb before they readjusted. Chuckling, the Moon Lord stood up, and went outside, to gather some things...
His Nemesis gathered the scattered Fragments of the Solar Pillar, planning on using their power... Heading home, they forged a weapon they dubbed the Solar Eruption, and they gave it a few experimental swings. That done, they hopped in the Minecart, and went East once again, this time going all of the way to the Jungle...
