Greetings, Terrarians!

Understandably, we’ve been getting a lot of questions regarding the upcoming console release of 1.3 and wanted to provide an update.

Currently we are working through the final issues/bug list from Re-Logic and Pipeworks QA – as well as any final bits that we need to resolve for Sony and Microsoft certification submission. Parallel to that, we are putting the final touches on optimization and performance for split-screen multiplayer. It has been a challenge getting the authentic PC experience to feel just right in this important format, but we are nearly done there.

Keep in mind that for a game of this scale we need to ensure that the game is properly screened by QA prior to us submitting the update for certification, we don’t want to rush and sacrifice quality for the sake of getting it out sooner. We are hoping to be able to submit for certification in the next few weeks, though there is a good chance this will take a bit longer. That said, we can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel! Hopefully this should give you a better idea of where the team is currently at. We hope to have additional information with a more solidified date soon – we just need to see how things progress on the final list before we can do so. Of course, if you have any questions feel free to let us know.

The Terraria Team at Pipeworks

One Terraria

"One Terraria" - For too long, we have felt that the Terraria community was too "fragmented", driven by some pretty large content differences between the various versions. One of the key goals of the Console & Mobile rewrite is to bridge that gap and bring everyone together into a more unified experience. What does that mean, exactly?
  • Bringing the other versions more in-line with the expectations of the core PC version in regards to gameplay and visuals - only deviating where appropriate or needed.
  • Narrowing - or even potentially eliminating - the "update gap" between PC updates and when these are rolled out to Console (and Mobile).
  • Once that is in place, even exploring more "out there" ideas like crossplay or content sharing that such parity could potentially allow (no promises here - just sharing the thinking! ;) )

So, what does this mean in practical terms? That we have done all that we can to make what you will receive as close as possible to the PC Terraria 1.3 experience. It also means that the teams have a pretty aggressive update plan moving forward with the goal of fully catching Console (and eventually, Mobile) up to PC... and then closely coordinating update development once we are at parity to greatly shrink or even remove the "update gap" altogether. Once we get all of that together, gone should be the days of Console and Mobile players getting content up to a year later - if all goes to plan.

We suspect that will be music to your ears - and it certainly is to ours! We are looking forward to sharing the details of that plan once we get through the Console 1.3 launch window. That said, this plan has other implications, so we encourage you to read up on those below. Taken together, we are confident that this will put Terraria and the community in a much better place a year from now than today - and today...
Happy Friday Terrarians!

I can't think of a better way to start the weekend than sharing a new background with all of you! We don't have a release date yet, but the team is working hard to bring you 1.3.6 soon :) Check it out and let us know what you think below!

Hello Terrarians!

Like having access to the entire internet? We are at real risk of losing it. The FCC and ISPs could potentially change the way we access the internet by enacting paid prioritization (choosing apps and sites for you), blocking sites, and throttling sites they don't benefit from you accessing. You can help save the open internet by completing and submitting this form to the FCC *Use Proceeding 17-108 "Restoring Internet Freedom". If you would like more information on Net Nuetrality, visit https://netneutrality.internetassociation.org/action/ The form does require a quick comment, and if you'd like help on what to say, check out this article.

Welcome one and all, to a very special issue of the Creation Compendium - #50!
To celebrate, we have hand picked our favourite issues from all 49 previous issues for you to look over, and perhaps feel a bit of nostalgia. We hope you enjoy!
Sadly, it wasn't possible for us to pick every one of the amazing entries, so feel free to share your own favourites below. (Make sure to credit the creator!).
As usual, before we start I'll remind you to send your entries for next month to @QuackersDelta - Here's a snazzy guide on how to enter. Make sure to read the rules of entry too:
Creation Compendium Rules, Regulations and FAQ:

1) All entries must be submitted to the hosting member's profile NOT via PM. (See the previous CC to determine who is next on the rota.)

2) All entries must be Terraria related in some way or another, whether that is ingame, art, music literature or any other form of creativity.

3) Each user may only submit one entry per month. Group entries are allowed, but all members who worked on the project must be credited and proof of consent from each member must be given. Group entries do count as a user's single entry.

3) Plagiarism is strictly not tolerated. Any evidence of such matters should be sent to a member of staff privately as soon as possible. The CC operates on a 'two strikes and you're out' system; after two offenses a user will be permanently banned from entering into all future Creation Compendiums.

4) The CC is a showcase, not a contest. All entries submitted (that are within the rules) will make it into the post.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask @darthmorf, @QuackersDelta or any other member of staff.
I'd also like to thank @Khaios for the sweet celebration themed logo and divider he made for us!...
Good day, Terrarians!

Everyone here at Pipeworks is working incredibly hard to bring you the best update possible. It’s of vital importance to us that your saved data transfers over to the new update.

In order for us to do some additional testing we’d like to secure some saved game data from the community. It’s also important to note that the PS3 will not be receiving 1.3. This is for anyone looking to upgrade from PS3 to PS4

Note: This is specifically for PS3 & PS4 saved data. We are handling Xbox data internally.

You can find instructions on how to submit saved data to us below.

Insert a formatted USB stick into any open USB port on your console. For each console, follow these instructions, where ‘save data’ means your Terraria saves:

PS3: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/game/copysavedata.html
PS4: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps4/settings/data_system.html

Once your save data is copied to the USB drive, insert the drive into your PC. Take the ‘PS4’ folder and compress it using your favorite file compression program.

Go to https://wetransfer.com/. Follow the on-screen interface to attach the save game file for transfer. Enter [Submissions have been closed] as the destination address.

One last thing before you hit “Transfer,” please include your email address in the message field so we can confirm the details of your world are showing up as expected. If you feel like attaching some pictures of the way your world looked the last time you loaded it that would be useful!

Thanks for your support! We’re working to make this console Terraria patch the best one yet!
Hello Terrarians!

The Re-Logic dev team has been hard at work on 1.3.6 this week. There is some pretty exciting stuff, so we thought we'd start your weekend off right with a look at one of the many new backgrounds coming to Terraria in 1.3.6 :)

Happy weekend Terrarians!

It is spoiler time! The Corruption has always been my favorite, so I can't wait for 1.3.6!

Greetings, Terrarians!

As you may have seen from Cenx' tweet this week, we have been playtesting the upcoming Console 1.3 update within our team in order to help make this rewrite/update the very best that it can be. (If you missed the image of the team playing, check it out below). We are having a great time and generating tons of feedback for the Pipeworks team.

Clearly, a ton of progress has been made - pretty much everything has been added, etc., though quite a good amount of work remains in squashing bugs, optimizing performance, and addressing the list of feedback that we are giving Pipeworks as a part of our playtesting.

The good part of this is that the game/update will be all the more polished and awesome as a result of this extra work.

The downside is that the team is going to need more time than expected to pull it all together. How long isn't quite clear yet - but both teams feel pretty sure that we are looking at a delay into Q3 in order to do what needs doing. Obviously, that isn't ideal for anyone, but it is what is needed to hit our "quality first" philosophy and to make this update hit its potential.

Hopefully, the delay will not be too long at all, but we wanted to go ahead and fill you guys in on the situation as soon as we knew ourselves.

Thanks for understanding and your support - we will answer any questions that we can of course.
Happy Friday Terrarians! :)

Start your weekend off with a look at a 1.3.6 spoiler ;)
