Weapons & Equip Give Shortswords a Helping Hand

Spazmatism
They aren't as sucky as everyone would like to believe, and I think it would be a good idea to give them a fair chance. In order to make Shortswords more useful, I think you should be able to aim Shortswords up or down 45 degrees, so that they have a more useful attack range and are not helpless against flying and jumping enemies.

Now, in order to keep them from being outclassed by spears, we should also add in a few more types of Shortswords. If we're going to move on from the useless weapon image, they should be spread throughout the game a bit more.
These are the single-target DPS values of the various Shortsword involved, including the existing ones.

So casting aside my burning hatred for shortswords for the immediate moment, I do have a few things to say about this topic. The first is that angling shortswords is not a bad idea at all and would likely give them much more worth in battle (doesn't mean I won't still hate them though), however, I have to ask- how would that be handled? Like, what would you do to angle them?

The second thing is you used the term "rapier" a disappointingly low amount of times, as rapier is by far the best term for the use style of the shortswords. (In fact, technically speaking all shortswords should be called rapiers (or daggers), as shortswords are used for slashing just like broadswords- it's rapiers that are used primarily for stabbing.)

Also, Spectre Slasher is a terrible name for a stabbing weapon.

Aim with the cursor. They're like really fast spears with limited range and angling abilities.

Maybe you slash perpendicular to the screen so it just looks like it's a stabbing weapon.

I would love to see more shortswords in Terraria as i loved Castlevania: Symphony of the night , where there was this one shortsword that could get you trough half the game . Also i really want to see a mini-excalibur and a mini true excalibur that shoots ghost mini-excaliburs .

STABSTABSTABSTABSTABSTAB DEWPOINT TO THE FACE! STABSTABSTABSTAB
I love the names.

Wait, so are they gonna have the normal attack pattern?
Why aren't there equivalents for Night's Edge, or Excalibur?
I'm kinda wondering why the endgame Ranger and endgame Mage armors have a shortsword too...

Thanks for the support, guys!

They can be aimed up or down 45 degrees so that they aren't as useless against enemies with vertical movement.

A Hallowed Shortsword will prbably be added to the main post, but I'm against a Night's Edge Shortsword because we only need one OP ultimate sword that you can get pre-Hardmode.
I'm kinda wondering why the endgame Ranger and endgame Mage armors have a shortsword too...
Why does Shroomite have a Digging Claw that doubles as an extraordinary Melee weapon?

Anyways, it's mostly because options can't hurt.

What about a 'Night's start' tooltip: the begining of something terrible. combing the blazing shortsword jungle stinger and the shadow fang or eyegouger? This is good my support.

Shortswords are currently useless so i see why not
P.s When is the last time a shortsword was added?
1.2, when they added Tin, Lead, Tungsten, and Platinum. (Ninja'd :p)

Before that, it was pre-release, which means that new Shortswords were never really added ever.
