Resolved Shield of Cthulhu auto-activating when off cooldown

Hello,

This is my first playthrough, on expert mode, and just got shield of cthulhu. It says that you need to double tap to dash. However when I hold a move key (A or D) it keeps auto-activating whenever in off cooldown, which makes the item unusable.

I wonder if there is a work around I can use? Would be terrible to stop playing right now that I'm hooked :(

That's not right. Shield Dash should only trigger on key presses, not holdings.

Do any of your other keys exhibit this behaviour? For instance, do you auto-jump when holding Space?
 
Hello there, yes, holding space make me auto-jump :(
A fellow redditor gave me a nice tip of trying to use `xset r off`, which disables the keyboard repetition, however it have not worked for me. I can see the difference while in the terminal (holding a key types lots of times with this settion on, but only once with it off), but even starting steam with this setting doesn't seems to fix the problem ingame for me.
 
It happens you need to run this command **after** opening terraria, not before. It works for me.
