Switch Switch-Constant freezing during events

I can’t get through a single pumpkin or frost moon event as the game is constantly freezing midway. I have a arena of 35 spear traps (as the game freezes instantly with anymore) and am using 5 death sphere summons.
 
The switch version currently has many issues. A patch is coming soon that will hopefully fix some of them but I really don't know.

Sorry I can't be more help. My best guess would be to try using even fewer traps.
