Terraria Halloween Contest - 2023

Oh how fun! I love the event especially I loved seeing how creative people are with their artworks! I'll try to participate for this year!

Would music, such as a remix, be permitted?
And if so, what category would that be in?

Do we have any specific restrictions on builds/vanities?
I would assume no mods that add new tiles or equips, are we banning the use of others that have purely visual effects ("Lights and Shadows" and "WeaponOut" come to mind)?
What is the word on texture packs? Is there a specific limitation to where they are okay, or just none at all?
Oh, and are we going for a theme on these, or is it just anything?

EDIT: Sorry, final question, how will winners be decided? Is this community vote, or selected by Relogic/community staff?

I think mods are blocked because then mobile and console players have a disadvantage.

Trick or Terraria!? It is that time of year again! Happy Halloween fellow Terrarians!

We're pleased to announce that we are running another Halloween contest! Much like last year, not only will members of the Terraria Community Forums (TCF) be able to participate, we are also inviting participants from Twitter (X), Discord, Reddit and Steam! We want this contest to be a celebration of the entire Terraria Community as a whole, so whichever of the communities you are a part of, you'll have the opportunity to submit a spooky Halloween themed creation for this contest!

You will have your choice of 5 categories to submit to. No matter what category, this is a Terraria Halloween contest, so your entry should reflect both Halloween and Terraria for the best chance to win. This year you are welcome to enter more than one category - however you can only win in one! If someone is a winner in more than one category, we will award them the prize for the category that they did the best in.

  • Pumpkin Carving - Create a Pumpkin Carving that is Terraria themed. Once you have a carving, take a picture and submit it as an image.
  • Costumes - Create a real life Terraria themed costume.
  • Artwork - Includes traditional drawing, painting, digital, and pixel artwork. Please note: AI generated content is not permitted.
  • Builds - Buildings and in-game creations created within Terraria itself. Can be captured with the in-game screenshot tool or your device's own screenshot capturing options.
  • Vanity Set - Create an in-game Terraria vanity set inspired by your favourite franchise or character.

To give you a sense for the sorts of amazing entries that we see for this contest each year, check out the Showcase and Winners from the 2022 Labor of Hallow's Eve contest!

If the winner drew a vanity set with wings in it does it have a change to get included in the final in game result 🤔?

for the question on the google form asking for our username, do we link our profile or just type in our current username?

Username is fine, just so long as we can contact you on your platform of choice should you win, there are any questions, etc.

Would be art, if any category... let me discuss with the team.

Halloween Contest, so would stick to that as a theme... whatever that means to you, but its a safe bet that spooky/scary/etc. would be "on theme".

Would prefer to stick to vanilla in regards to the use of mods/packs... this keeps it fair for all platforms. That said, if you have a sick Halloween Texture Pack, I would love to see it just because I would find it interesting... even if it wouldn't help you here.

Anything is possible, I suppose, but I would not assume this to be the case nor even likely to occur.

Sorry, final question, how will winners be decided? Is this community vote, or selected by Relogic/community staff?

Very likely will be community staff teams coupled with Re-Logic. If this changes, we will let you know.

Music is permitted, would fall under art.
