This mod is getting something of a soft reboot right now, so everything here is outdated at this point and very much subject to change. Stay tuned; hopefully we can get some ideas going and I can properly update the thread soon.
(Banner coming soon!)
Hello people of the Terraria Modding community. Welcome to the thread of a new W.I.P. mod, the Lunacy mod!
Now, this will be a general content mod (Like mods such as Thorium, SacredTools, Calamity, etc), and our first release will mainly focus on adding plenty of stuff to pre-hardmode.
We hope that this first release will help make the earlygame far less boring, along with fleshing out the classes where they need to be most.
Now, on to some of the planned content:

Now, on to some of the planned content:
EYETOOTH SET
An earlygame set which uses Eyetooth (dropped from the Eye of Cthulhu) and Demonite/Crimtane. The armor is a Thrower set, giving an (arguably more interesting) alternative to the Ninja armor.
WATER BRAND SET
Brands are going to be a reoccurring element in this mod, being scattered here and there throughout progression with varying forms. Water Brands are acquired from new Ocean mobs post-Eater of Worlds/Brain of Cthulhu. The armor is a Ranger set.
RENDING SET
Rending powder will drop from enemies which spawn in the upper caves post-Skeletron. The whole set will give Throwers a better chance against the Wall of Flesh, not just leaving them with the Fossil set as vanilla does.
CORE PEARL SET
Core Pearls will drop from enemies spawning on the outer edges of Hell at any time, and rarely in the Ocean post-Skeletron. This is meant to give Summoners a better chance against the Wall of Flesh like the Rending set, with a chance to face enemies head-on with a nifty new sword.

CORE PEARL ENEMIES
The enemies that drop Core Pearls, spawning in the outer edges of Hell or in the Ocean post-Skeletron (As stated above in the items spoiler). From left to right, top to bottom: Magmatic Eel, Daemon's Chandelier, and Mantle Oyster (which, be warned, fires a death laser.)

THE LUNAR CLUSTER
The Lunar Cluster is a boss meant to be fought post-Eye of Cthulhu, and drops an abundance of "Clusterstone" along with scattering said ore across the underground.
The armor/weapon set, the Clusterstone set, is an earlygame ranger set. The Expert item, Septic Sentience, provides a limitless supply of Cluster Shots (earlygame bullets).

The Lunar Cluster is a virus cursed with sentience.
Born of a mineral aptly named "Clusterstone", the Cluster’s creation was wholly a mistake and, to some, a disgrace. Beings of the moon — Lunatics, as they call themselves — attempted once to restrain the viral properties of an especially angry sample of Clusterstone within a canister of Luminite alloy. This functioned for a while, but all good things must end.
Years of wear and erosion by solar winds and lunar wars rendered the container fragile and dulled its containing power. Small flecks of the stone began to escape into the lunar ecosystem as such, and promptly began to infect several Lunatic scientists. These specimens granted the Cluster itself a good bit of “processing power”, eventually permitting it to attain sentience, break free from its canister, and destroy the laboratory in which it was contained.
The cluster then receded into the moon’s crust and was seen again only once after.
In a moment of great hubris and overconfidence, the Cluster attempted to infect the Lord of the Moon himself. This plan failed, however, and exposed the cluster to Lunatic attacks. In a showdown between the sentient viral stone and the Moon Lord, the latter came out on top.
The Cluster, defeated and greatly weakened, was banished to a low Terrarian orbit and now awaits even the slightest of disturbances to allow it to wreak havoc upon Terraria and reclaim its lost power.
