tModLoader The Lunatic

The thing is, this mod is NOT good for anyone other than experts who can gofast. It is, at its core, a speedrun mode, the default settings are pretty tight, and trying to include modded bosses and the like in the run makes it even tighter.

If you want to kind of take your time and explore other mods like Thorium or Calamity or whatever, Lunatic will only interfere and rush you past entire chunks of content. However, if you want a gimmicky challenge playthrough, it's pretty fun.

You can adjust config settings to have more time for non-rush playthrough. Also, modded bosses now count towards extending the time, so their respective quest branches are not wasted.

Really? I've never been able to get him to accept a modded boss mask, and assumed support was something individual mod makers had to do themselves.

I (semi) recently added a feature to drop generic mask items on behalf of each modded boss, countable for time extensions (also they're wearable; textured with the boss's map icon). These are not required for completion, currently. I'd planned to add a proper API for this, or maybe even (optionally) use the Boss Checklist mod, if possible.

Does a config file need edited to make this happen? I just tested Grand Thunderbird in both a Normal and Expert world, and nada.

Yeah, please note that I was in french-vanilla(almost no mods, and mostly none that impact the gameplay). So adding more mods may become harder(or probably easier because of the OP items).
Maybe once I get a new computer(since my good laptop broke for no reason :/), I'll think about re doing a playthrough. Dunno about the video tho.

Excuse me, but I was hoping you might be able to answer a question of mine.

Does the doomsday timer from this mod begin when you start the world itself, or does it only begin when you get the Lunatic NPC as part of your town? Thanks in advance!

when you start the world. Would be too easy otherwise :P

I might have broken something?

I created a world, built a house (killed nothing) THEN turned on the mod, and the lunatic arrived BUT there isn't any form of countdown or anything?
can anyone help? :)

you can talk to the lunatic and one of his message will have a numbers of days before the end.
Also, nothing is happening for now because you have a longer time at the beginning to get equipment and defeat the first bosses :p
You'll soon regret not having a good gear and defeated bosses. ;)

edit :
It could also possibly be because you created a world prior to activating the mod. I think there's a feature preventing that to prevent destroying old worlds(and cheating, cough cough) by accident. Needs confirmation.

I got scared because I thought you would be a visual countdown haha!

I'm 3 bosses in (with no cheating) Eye of Cthulhu, Eater and King Slime and he hasn't spoken about time to me, only taken me about 5 Terraria days so far

You're good, then. I'm already working on an improved indication of time remaining with the next version. Meanwhile, the only thing to keep in mind when talking to the npc for now: No news is good news!

v1.2.0
  • Added debug config option
  • Added message popup on last day
  • When submitting masks, an extra half day is added if current half day is at least halfway done
  • Added 'days left' display on 'give mask' option
  • Added more dialog for npc
