It's actually about as rusty as my building ability. ;)


Apparently the only change Hardmode imposes on the Ocean is that mobs drop Treasure Maps. Therefore Ocean biome, safest biome. Also nice music.

Never said this play through was legit. :p
I'm a builder first, a player second*. W̶i̶l̶l̶ ̶b̶e̶ ̶e̶x̶p̶a̶n̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶o̶f̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶n̶g̶.̶

Pulled some inspiration from @rulick15 for some elements of this design. Also some people on Reddit, such as in the case of the elevator design. Technically they were using the granite table as window curtains, which is also a great use for it. I just thought it made a nice retro arched doorway.
Makes this thing look kinda 80's feeling.





*current expert mode death-count is somewhere in the high 40s, with roughly 1/3rd of that from the Brain of Cthulu, 1/2 From Skeletron, 1/10th or so from the eye of Cthulu, and the rest from slimes. Stupid slimes.

This was by and large a proof of concept is seeing if it was possible to make something akin to a Floating Continent out of what might otherwise be interpreted as "Synthetic" elements, e.g. No Dirt, No Grass, No Rocks, No Trees, None of the stuff that "ruined" Continent IIIa. Behold the sort-of-future of Floating Continent building.​


Now I sit around and wait for 1.3.1 to come around and hope it adds new building and decoration opportunities.

Speaking of Continent IIIa, YOU CAN NOW VISIT IT AND WALK AROUND IT!!!

You could try making it out of nature. Maybe a tree that was coerced into a tower or a crimson hill that was partially animated and made into a home. Maybe even a corruption chasm that was reshaped into a dark, evil lair.

Maybe like your corporation tower, secret passageways, alchemy labs, etc. Incorporate previous posters idea as well. Have it organically form and twist into the tower,

Now that I think of it, I've always wanted to do a Mad scientist playthrough...
I don't suppose you have any suggestions for Mad Scientist-esque furniture? (beyond the Martian or Meteor furniture sets, which are obvious additional choices)

So, old industrial lime kilns and coal breakers, but infused with wild magic. Think crystal block growing all over the place, floating fires, etc. etc.

I think that industrial/steampunky look would be pretty cool.

As for sci fi furniture, I'd use pretty much any of the animated workstations (painted to match). Glass set works well too.

Currently trying to expand on this concept, potentially build something bigger with this same general format.

I actually really like this roof type. I have SUCH a problem with Roofs, if my other builds are anything to go off of. No seriously, go back and look for roofs. A lot of my builds are boxes that are flat on top. And covered in crap.
