Roadmap to Multiplayer #4

Welcome to the fourth Multiplayer Development Roadmap! This thread will be use keep our fans and players up-to-date on what we are working on and how much work still needs to be done until we reach our first open beta test of multiplayer! We’ve made quite a lot of accomplishments in Roadmap #3, so let’s hop right into it:


Summary of previous Roadmap
Roadmap #3 had some very specific goals in mind:
  • Improve the general stability of STW
  • Finish outstanding work in Sivania
  • Launch a dedicated multiplayer beta server for patrons to access 24/7
We accomplished our first goal implementing dozens of bug fixes and design updates.
With our second goal in mind, we were able to accomplish a lot:
  • Implement all new tiles for Sivania
  • Implement the Temple of Ra quest
  • Improve on existing Sivania areas
We were not able to finish everything though, and you’ll see these items added to this roadmap.

Lastly, to ensure we actually met these two goals we held another 48 hour test with our Patrons recently on a dedicated server hosted by AWS. We had a rather great test proving that the new content works and we did stabilize the game more. We also found some very important new bugs that we’ve already started fixing.
Goal of Roadmap #4
Our main focus for this roadmap is to get our servers up 24/7 for our Patrons. Our patrons have proven to be a vital key to the stability of the game as we are able to work closely with them to find issues as they play and test out the new content and fixes.

In addition to getting the servers up, we plan to address bugs found in our last test as well as implement more content.

At the end of the roadmap we will want to stress test our servers and invite our fans and followers to join our Patrons to play and test STW.

Estimated Completion: January 31st, 2019

Goals:
  1. Fix critical bugs found from Patreon tests Accomplished
  2. Launch 24/7 servers for our Patrons (Closed Beta) Accomplished
  3. Dynamic Server Scaling based on player load
  4. Open Beta of Super Terraria World
What Else We're Working On:
  1. Implementing Sivania Fishing Areas
  2. Implementing Sivania Herb Areas
  3. Implementing Sivania Enemy Areas
  4. Complete rebuild of The Great Forest
  5. Continue implementing Dryad's Distress Quest
  6. Complete rebuild of the Sivania Mines
  7. Implementing Minecart Madness Quest

New Promises: Pit Stops
What’s a roadmap without stopping to see the sights along the way? One of our biggest misses was having tests way too infrequently. Going forward, we’d like to celebrate each milestone with a good old Patreon test similar to how we have been doing for the past while now. What this means is that while the servers will not be available 24/7 towards the beginning, we hope to have big events where all Patrons can hop on at the same time and experience the new content together (and hopefully feel less bad about some possible character wipes that happen during those times). This should start to feel a little bit like those “patch” or “maintenance” days that you look forward to in your other favorite games. We’ll announce these dates with at least a week’s notice, so check in on the Discord channel from time to time to stay up to date.

Thanks for your interest in the mod! The goal is to have the multiplayer beta open to the public full time by the end of the year. We'll work as best as we can to meet or exceed that goal ^.^

If you need people to test it i got a 4 players group waiting for the mod to come out
Currently beta testing is only open to our Patreons but we hope to have a large beta test later in the year where we will giveaway spots on our discord server or twitter.

Did you take the title from SMW?
Ironically, yes! It started out as a joke. We didn't know what to call our mod that linked together Terraria Worlds into a Super World and so we of course put it all together and made a pun with Super Mario World. The name grew on us, and so we kept it!

Ok, and i'm gonna play SMW after Terraria. (cause Terraria can be put as an SNES game

STW is a standalone mod, meaning it is not compatible with tmodloader, so yes, it must be used with vanilla Terraria. There is no current implementation of the throwing class in this mod, and as far as I know we have to plans to implement it. Once STW is released, it will be an MMORPG so you will connect to our servers over the Internet; there will be no need for LAN servers.

What will happen to crimson and corruption if the world is static? will the blocks be converted? How do I install the mod in terraria no steam?
The Corruption and Crimson do not spread in the same way as this is a story driven mod. Currently there are no plans to release STW on non-steam platforms.

Currently aiming for an open multiplayer release by the end of the year!
End of the year is better than the start of the year, So can't wait for this to come out!
