Single Thread RP The Last ROLEPLAY Post Wins

Father Garundel just sighs, crossing his arms as he rights himself, turning to face the burning and ruined van.

Seraph walks closer to it, head tilted curiously.

Xee leans forward like a cat towards its prey.

It can. Inside are two cardboard(?) boxes, untouched by the fire currently spreading around the van.
Sarah, raising some earth with a gesture of her hand to shield against the fires, walks up to the cardboard boxes to inspect them first, before opening them.

Draucon sticks by Seraph's side, hand flitting to his axe handle. Eve follows him.
Eve: "..Draucon, what's.."
"..No idea what that is."

Xee leans forward like a cat towards its prey.
The focus remains brilliant as the camera continues to zoom in, the specks now various shapes an sizes, a small shack coming into view.. and something burning.

A red indicator, 4 lines in a plus shape surrounded by a red circle, appears around one of the specks, a larger black one. As the images grows sharper and closer, there's no doubt about who it is.

Weirdly, you can't actually see anything inside. You can tell something is in there, based on its weight, but visuals aren't an option.

Sarah tries carrying the boxes out of the van, one at a time.

<–——= Lunar Approach =——–>
The ship sort of just floats uncontrolled in the air for a bit…before it disappears into a portal.
A certain red light can be seen in the distance, potentially able to be picked up as an energy signature.
This would be detected, and tracked...

(0) Xylith floats perfectly still, allowing the craft to get pretty close to trapping him.

He then slowly looks towards one of them, the edge of his axe igniting with a blaze of Coral as his thrusters kick on, boosting through the beam and towards it, albeit slightly off course as to try and cut through it, not into it. (6) All the while, his armor is warped and melted by the potency of the Coral..

<".... Dammit.">
(11)
The rotation of the weapon would cause Xylith's attack to just slice through the surface of the armour, missing any components inside.
Following this, the units would unfold three legs each, continuing to spin as significant numbers of small, light rockets begin to be fired out at Xylith, each following a different spiral trajectory and making it rather difficult to dodge one without entering the path of another... (D20: 15, 2, 4, 3, 17, 12. Each successful roll after the third adds a stacking -1 to the defense roll, stack ends with any failed defense roll.)

>——————<

<–——= A Walk Gone Awry =——–>

Luis nods, readying to fly.
“…Lead the way.”
And indeed, AOV-R266B would begin flying in the direction of the shaft, Sirale and Ayita following, Sirale specifically leaning in close to Luis and whispering to him.
"So, if this turns out to be a trap?"

>——————<

<–——= ODP-10 "Rapier" =——–>

(18) And in a sheer stroke of luck, the unit somehow manages to block with its rifle.. which happens to rip the rifle apart in a small Coral explosion that would likely toss both machines back. (4)
(D20: 13) The unit (which to make these posts clearer will be referred to as A) manages to brace itself well, sliding back due to the force but remaining in a good position as it would quickly move in for a thrust at the enemy unit. (D20: 10)

(18) The unit somehow manages to maneuver to the side, a thin scrape from the blades tracing up its front.

Holding its rifle in one hand, it draws a large machete-like black metal blade, a thin line of Coral igniting on its end as it charges forwards with a slash. (..1) It probably took so long to get ready that the attack was easy to read..
(D20: 16)
Indeed, the unit (which will be B) simply steps to the side of the attack, making use of the enemy's charge for its own use as it tries to slip in its own blade so the enemy unit will impale itself on it. (D20: 18)

(7) The small explosion means the unit being fired upon was rather.. forcefully.. relocated back.
The rear units (C & D) would proceed to draw melee weapons, and move forward to assist.

<–——= ODP-12 "Valiant" =——–>
(7) And a bit confused, the heavy unit only has a chance to lift its buckler arm in defense, the blades ripping into, and through, it, rending it essentially useless.

Now point blank and with one good arm, the heavy unit attempts to bash (7) and then fire at the turret with its machine gun, the light units trying to keep cover fire by aiming still at the other turret. (1) (17)
(0) The other turret was destroyed earlier, the additional shots simply cause it to fall out of the roof, (D20: 20) ...in the process managed to tear out a cable in the ceiling, resulting in power to the emergency lighting in the hallway being cut, followed by a bright flash as a short circuit ignites an oxygen line, creating a jet of flame which now blocks the hallway.
(D20: 4) Meanwhile the defense "turret" that is on the heavy would have once of its arms bashed and shot clean off. In response, it would fire a charged beam at point blank at the heavy unit. (D20: 12)

<–——= Access Violation =——–>
(12) Jack luckily seems agile enough to react in time to avoid the sharp moving bits, maneuvering around and past them.

Remaining still a bit further up the platform, he takes note of this, scrambling towards the more stable part, but also flicking his flashlight on his VOLT warily towards the pipes as he hustles to the safer section, also intending to look at the sign..
The sign would would show the two IDs "SA-120-39" and "SA-120-40" on it, each above arrows indicating their directions.

For now, it just seems to do nothing...

"So, if this turns out to be a trap?"
Luis starts off after the drone, slowing down so Sirale can speak to him.
"...Either way, Jack is in there."
"All that can be done is keeping aware and wary."

Luis then picks up the pace to catch up to them.

Xee stares, his breathing getting a lot heavier as it becomes VERY obvious what he's planning.
The lithe twin machines on either side of the hallway leading to the throne room step forwards in sync, also moving to block off the path.

The screen finally comes fully into focus on the target.

Seraph.

A loud bang rumbles through the ship as a red flash illuminates the space outside the throne room, a blazing red beam making its way to the surface of the planet.

Draucon just keeps a close eye on the van.
Seraph looks up, a red light in the sky slowly glowing brighter and brighter.

"Hey uhm.. I take it we've got some compan-"

A monumental collision rattles the ground, a huge wall of snow and stone tossed into the air as some large object slams into the ground only a few feet ahead of Mae, sending her flying, crashing back down to the ground after a few seconds of air time with a loud cracking sound.

A black, humanoid figure stands amidst the crater, snow drifting gently down around them
.

"62410, I am afraid you have committed not one, but several acts against the good of my command, all of which are punishable by death... and here I am."

Four bars of light pierce out from the dust still hanging heavy in the air.

Father Garundel staggers back a bit, conjuring his golden blade in his hand.

"F-Fluxxation.."

Seeing this, Evi immediately runs after her, going to check on her condition.
Lightning glances at this, stepping to the side and beginning to grow in size as she prepares to cover them.

"...SARAH, GET BACK."
Pol yelps, teleporting a bit back, already in flight from on Draucon's shoulder. She takes out her boomerang and gun, Draucon taking out his axe.
Sarah jumps back from Fluxxation, burying the boxes quickly in a rock tomb, then launches herself backwards with an earth pillar jutting up from the ground as she backflips into a kneeling stance a few meters back, getting out her railgun as the scope on it folds out, taking a deep breath.

Draucon glances at Garundel..
Seeing this, Evi immediately runs after her, going to check on her condition.
Lightning glances at this, stepping to the side and beginning to grow in size as she prepares to cover them.
...before glancing at Lightning. Without time to think much of it, Draucon brandishes his axe, staring Fluxxation down.

After taking them both out of the van and putting them next to each other, Sarah checks the contents of both boxes again, now that they're out of the van.
One has a pearl necklace, the other has a.... weird spear. From the spearhead to around the halfway mark, two smaller spearheads break off of the handle around 12 times. (As in there's 12 sets of 2 little mini spearheads).
The lithe twin machines on either side of the hallway leading to the throne room step forwards in sync, also moving to block off the path.

Seraph.

A loud bang rumbles through the ship as a red flash illuminates the space outside the throne room, a blazing red beam making its way to the surface of the planet.
Xee begins to shake, before his head makes a sharp turn to the right.
"YATTOLA!"
A thin slit in space opens, a weird looking ghost sticking his head through.
"...What is it..."
"Prepare everyone for an attack, NOW! I want that damn thing torn apart!"

<–——= Lunar Approach =——–>
For now, it just seems to do nothing...
And so the railguns train themselves on Xylith again...

(9, 4, 12, 11 -1 = 10, 4, 15 - 1 = 14)

Xylith is struck by the first missile, boosting to the side out of reflex and dodging the next three, only to be hit in the shoulder by the fourth, counter-firing his thrusters to remain stationary as he swats the final missile off course with his axe.

Glancing briefly over his shoulder, he extends his axe, boosting towards the other defense weapon at full speed, aiming to cleave this one apart, trying to catch it off guard. (11) Regardless of success, he would flare his thrusters after, halting behind his target before opening his shoulder missile salvos, firing a cluster of micro-missiles in a condensed shotgun-like blast at the thing. (17, 7, 3)

<–——= ODP-10 "Rapier" =——–>

(5) The light unit, still very much stunned, barely manages to move itself, the thrust tearing a good chunk out of its torso as it staggers to the side, slowly gaining its footing.

(D20: 16)
Indeed, the unit (which will be B) simply steps to the side of the attack, making use of the enemy's charge for its own use as it tries to slip in its own blade so the enemy unit will impale itself on it. (D20: 18)
(8) And that it does, lights flickering at the blade cleaves through its torso.

Now at point blank, it tries in desperation to unload its coral rifle into the enemy unit while also frantically slashing at and towards it. (7, 19)

The rear units (C & D) would proceed to draw melee weapons, and move forward to assist.
The first unit, (I should probably name them), sees the other two approaching, drawing its own coral-tipped blade and igniting it, wobbling slightly as coral drips from the huge wound in its torso.

Ducking down, the heavy unit manages to only be grazed by the beam, some of the armor on its head melting and deforming, but no major damage is dealt. (10)

It then attempts to bash the turret into submission with its rifle a few more times (7), before attempting to continue its machine-gun spray of coral pulses, hoping to take the thing offline. (14)

<–——= Access Violation =——–>

The sign would would show the two IDs "SA-120-39" and "SA-120-40" on it, each above arrows indicating their directions.
Jack sighs.

"Eenie.. Meenie.. Miney-“

“Oh.”

He slowly turns his head, looking behind him into the darkness.

“Entity probably following me, 29 or 30?”

He says this with a joking tone, turning back and continuing to think..

Draucon glances at Garundel..

...before glancing at Lightning. Without time to think much of it, Draucon brandishes his axe, staring Fluxxation down.
Father Garundel is breathing heavily now, holding his side, mouth taut, gritting his teeth in apparent pain.

With calm, metered steps, Fluxxation strides out from the dust, glancing at the various weapons pointed at him with a calm sweep of his head, his diamond-shaped visor conveying no feeling or intention to any of them. His gaze finally lands on Draucon.

“Step aside, it would be a waste of my resources to kill you.”

“You know who I’m here for.”

He then begins walking towards Draucon, looking past him to Seraph.

Seraph stands firm, his hands and forearms igniting into green flames as he returns the glare of Fluxxation, bending his knees as he braces to fight.

Garundel slowly clenches his fists, sword shaking in his grip as he slowly lifts it, sinking into a fighting stance, his grip loosening with a loud exhale.

“It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”

Fluxxation ignores him, continuing towards Draucon, heading to Seraph.

Garundel stands rigid.. waiting.

(I'm going to unwatch this thread to keep my notifications manageable/organized. Not leaving the RP, just turning off alerts for a little bit. I'd appreciate it if someone would ping me once all the combat things start to finish up.
Same goes for Solitarus, by the way.
Main reason for this is I've gotten tired of all the combat in RPs. It feels like basically everything is combat, with little to no downtime... which just bothers me a lot. I'd go into more detail about my feelings about it all, but it's summer, I've gotten very little sleep this week especially (I am actually considering taking meds again even if their issue is "Either they don't do a thing and I'm tired the next day... or they do their job TOO well and I'm tired the next day"), and I'd prefer to save my energy for much word until the weekend so I can take my notes better. So... can't go into a lot of detail.)
(Regardless, I'm sorry if this causes any problems.)

Draucon hesitates...before stepping aside.

Eve flaps back quietly, darn well aware of her inability to fight in close quarters, while Pol more or less stops, unsure.
<...Logistically speaking, stepping aside is the best choice.>
<You know damn well if you were in my place, you'd never go with that choice.>
<
You find him annoying. So you think of my voice with this kinda thing, obviously.>
<...>
<
Seraph..might die here, but...if it means being able to protect everyone else...>

Sarah takes a deep breath, lowering her railgun a bit, vaguely confused at the lack of resistance.
Getting an odd feeling, she moves the crate with the gifts over to her, but doesn't surface it to open it up again yet.

<
...That's how it is, Draucon?>
<What would you know. You're not even here right now.>

Chains shift...
As Draucon waits, looking for something...
But the chains will hold.

(Huh, I expected to see far more here than what happened...)
(Hmm...)
