Many players want and have suggested a way to deactivate the Stardust Guardian and other similar set bonuses so they don't mess with the look of vanity outfits. The most common suggestion is to make it so that canceling a set bonus' buff would deactivate the minion/sentry until you die, relog, or re-equip the armor. The problem with this solution is that you would have to repeatedly cancel the buff every time you spawn into the world and give up the set bonus which, while better than nothing, would be annoying and a shame since you would lose part of what makes the armor useful. That is why I would like to suggest a different, more elegant solution that would solve the problem while still letting players have useful set bonuses.
What I would like to propose is for a new option to be added underneath Loadouts labeled "Set Bonus" with three different options, them being On, Off, and Hidden. On and Off would do exactly what they say, turn all set bonuses (not just visual ones) completely on or off. The Hidden option, on the other hand, would cause all visual set bonuses to be invisible until an enemy comes near the player, after which the set bonus would activate and become visible. Then, after defeating all enemies, the set bonus would once again deactivate and become invisible. Forbidden Armor would behave a little differently with the Forbidden Sigil only showing up when a Sandstorm is placed. Here is what this idea would look like in game...
As I've already said, this solution would let players have the benefits of an armor's set bonus while not compromising the look of their vanity, and would hopefully be a feasible addition. If you have any constructive or positive feedback feel free to share!

This is a good change, especially when you want to put a vanity set together but the solar shield ruins it.

Being able to toggle the dash from solar armor would be a blessing for building, I always end up removing a piece because I keep accidentally dashing when I'm not trying to.

I think if you equip the armor in the vanity set it should make the minion spawn but do nothing

I would love this. I've always been bugged by the Solar Shield just hanging out in front of my character.
