I can't believe that no-one has mentioned this yet, at least not that I have seen, but there are clearly shadow orbs visible on the two logos, which sure points towards a game in the Terraria lore, don't ya think?

Those aren't shadow orbs. By that logic, I can say that there are clearly vines on the logos, so it follows Vine trends.
...Well, not exactly. But still, those spheres aren't supposed to be shadow orbs, but more like bubbles, like you would see boiling water bubbling, or in a stereotypical witch's cauldron.

Oh well. I blame it I a phone screen and color blindness.

Even though this new game has been thoroughly debunked as being Terraria related by the staff, I still can't help shake the feeling that all those weird purple growths has something to do with the corruption.

More importantly however...
These floating ruins look really cool:

It would be kind of neat little reference to this other Mysterious Project, if a Sky Island would occasionally generate like this in Terraria
(and we know how much Re-Logic loves it's little references).

I like the idea of a floating Island randomly generating in Terraria, that would be a cool feature Indeed. Like your walking around on your world, then all of a sudden an earthquake occurs and a huge chunk of the earth starts to float into the sky! And if you happen to be standing on that chunk of ground... well, lets just say you'll have a pretty good view of the skies.

Yes yes, 1.3 with all those tons of content is going to be FREE so you should be patient!
I have been patient. I've said barely anything on my wish for the update and/or info about the update to come sooner.
Its just that, there've been so few bits of information on 1.3 that every time I check the site and there's a new news post and it's just something like a sale or console edition news, well, mfw:

This is not 1.3

Right, let's go meta.

ReLogic and Engine Software are both indie companies. Since both parties have stated that development on 1.3 won't slow down, that means that ReLogic will only get involved after 1.3 is done, which is scheduled in 2015. Since there are already backgrounds/concept art, that means that the game is already in the design phase, and said design phase is being run by Engine Software.

Now, since ReLogic is (presumably) not designing, why are they on board? As you can see in the trailer, the ReLogic and Engine Software logos are 3D renders. Those are most likely made by Engine Software (because they have specialised 3D artists, I'm not saying ReLogic couldn't do it), which leads to the rather far fetched conclusion that the game will be a combo of 3D (handled by Engine Software) and 2D sprites (which is where the ReLogic spriters come in).

Now the backgrounds (if they are backgrounds, if it were concept art it would contain very little concept though) are the typical put-it-in-the-back-and-layer-everything-else-on-top-of-it backgrounds (that probably has a technical name but I don't know, I'm not in the NHTV yet). Which makes a full 3D game unlikely (unless these are backgrounds for some sort of minigame). So, what game has a 2D background with a mix of 3D stuff (Engine Software) and 2D stuff (ReLogic)? A side scroller.

Name every Japanese game musician since 1986 if I'm right.

Please tell me you are being sarcastic.

Let's see... deserts, floating ruins, a crystal place (maybe a cave, but probably not, as "trees" are present) and a swamp/jungle

...Terraria 3D?

...
This is not 1.3
Yes, I know this. I probably should have quoted the relevant post(s) regarding Loki's repeating the "free" in "free 1.3 update" and his heavy implying that people should stop asking/complaining about it because it's FREE!

I guess people can't be expected to read through a thread and connect the dots nowadays...
