PC Lesser known/utilized Shimmer transmutations and decrafts for advanced players

MegaByte

Skeletron
Not the most useful tricks some are extremely situational.
You can get almost exact location of shimmer pre-boss using the color of dungeon bricks or guide's original name so I'm assuming you have access to shimmer pre-boss in some of these points.
  1. Buy Anvills from Merchant and decraft them to get infinite iron (convert again for infinite tin, copper, stone and dirt).
  2. Recall potions you no longer need can be decrafted to get specular fish, then use those fish to craft wormhole potions if you're playing multiplayer.
  3. Uncrafting potions can help in some other ways aswell, you can uncraft hunter potions to get shark fin and craft megashark, uncrafting useless potions to get their ingredients if you're short on herbs etc.
  4. Buy Ale from Tavernkeep and decraft them few times to get infinite sand.
  5. Buy Dynasty wood from Traveling Merchant and decraft them to get infinite regular wood because Dynasty wood doesn't count as a 'wood type' for recipes.
  6. Uncraft your old items like gold armor instead of trashing it, gold will be helpful later in the game.
  7. Get wires pre-skeletron by uncrafting active stone blocks, then you can use them to craft a timer pre-skeletron (yes, not very useful but putting it here anyway).
  8. Convert Mushroom seeds into Jungle grass (& vise-versa).
  9. Convert evil powders into purification powder (not useful but I'm keeping it just in case someone need them pre-boss for some reason).
  10. Convert Wooden Arrows into Shimmer Arrows early game they do 8+ more damage.
  11. Convert cactus to pumpkin if you're feeling too lazy to plant them (& vise-versa).
  12. If you have a Diamond farm you can convert them to any other gem type.
  13. OOA sentries can be converted into any other type, use explosive trap for OOA then convert it into Flamburst or something to get a better use in other situvations.
  14. You can convert Chlorophyte into almost any other lower-tier ore type.
  15. Similar to above tip you can convert your spare hardmode metal bars/ores like cobalt into more useful pre-hardmode ores like gold, gold is useful for making king slime summons to farm biome keys, spelunker potions, water candles etc. while palladium is only useful for builders post-mech.
  16. Convert cans of worms into herb bags to boost your early game herb farm (& vise-versa if you want to get the gummy worm, there's a good chance to get golden worms from cans of worms).
  17. You can convert Rotten Chunks into Vertebrae by crafting battle potions or mechanical worms and then throwing them into shimmer.(easier early game unholy arrows)
  18. Get infinite silver ore by decrafting silver bullets purchased by Arms Dealer(or tungsten).
  19. Get infinite glowing mushroom, get infinite wood using above method then buy torches from merchant, turn on torch swap(torch god), craft campfires using all that wood, then place them in a mushroom biome they will turn into mushroom campfires, then shimmer them, you'd get all the torches back and you'd get glowing mushroom instead of wood. (you could probably use actuators with a fast timer or something to place & break campfires faster)
  20. Decraft items in underground cabins like gold chandelier in early game to get their materials.
  21. Convert living wood wand into a finch staff.
  22. You can convert any jungle bug into a buggy (40% bait power) simply craft a buggy statue(which can be crafted using any 5 jungle bugs) then shimmer it, you always get 5 buggies.
  23. Fight queen bee without finding a hive, shimmer water buckets to get honey buckets, use them to get a bottled honey, mix them with water to get 10 honey blocks, shimmer 5 of them to get 5 hive blocks then all you need is a stinger to craft the summon item.
  24. Put merchant in jungle to buy infinite furnances, which can be decrafted into stone, wood and torches(then stone can be crafted into platforms which are the cheapest platforms you can buy).
  25. Transmute evil powder to get purification powder in getfixedboi seed.
  26. Get infinite money, buy mushroom grass from dryad and shimmering it into jungle grass and then craft greed threads, sell them for the happiest npc you have.(learnd from this post by dapling, read it for more details with optimization)
  27. Shimmer spare gemcorns to get gems.
Following ones are not as much lesser known/utilized
  1. Convert Pharaoh's vanity set into flying carpet or sandstorm in a bottle.
  2. You can convert class emblem to different classes.
  3. Convert magma stone into a Lava Charm.
  4. Covert mining shirt to mining pants(& vise-versa).
  5. You can convert each ankh shield material to a different material.
  6. You can cycle between each fish finder material and greedy ring material.
  7. You can put dungeon brick walls, lizard brick walls and spider walls to get their infected version which allows mob spawning(for farms).
  8. Convert pufferfish into a shiny red balloon.
More tips:
1. You can use treasure magnet and a hardmode anvil near shimmer to make "decrafting and recrafting for a better modifier" process much easier.
2. Use one of the two methods in the following video by Terrasteel to find the exact location of shimmer. link >> find shimmer
3. You probably know about coin luck, but it caps at 1 platinum (gives 0.2 coin luck for around 4 minutes, then you lose roughly 0.025 coin luck in around every 6 minutes).

If you know any other lesser known decrafts or converts let me know.

Class emblems dropped but WoF will cycle through when thrown in. This is super useful if you didn’t get the one you wanted.

I know this one, didn't think it's 'lesser known' but what the hell I'm adding this and magma stone > lava charm into the list

Save any can of worms you find in surface chests and shimmer into herb bags for a huge boost to your early game herb farms, if you're doing a more fishing focused playthrough you can do the opposite

Adding onto this, shimmering herb bags into cans of worms gives you a higher chance to obtain a Gold Worm-- which you can then shimmer for a permanent fishing power boost.

I'll mention this with it

Update: I added around 10 more points,

I'm bumping the topic mostly for the buggy trick, very useful for fishers like myself (40% bait power)

Please use explosive trap instead of laura, it's so much better

I saw you say that in reddit and yeah you were right it was better when I tried it, I'll edit it

The Ale one is so good because I dont have to mine my entire desert.

Put Merchant in the jungle, buy lots of furnaces, and decraft them for "dirt" cheap stone and wood. Each wood is slightly more expensive than dynasty wood, but you aren't reliant on Traveling Merchant and you get loads of stone and torches to work with too. On that note, the torch god stuff has been patched; shimmering torches and campfires now gives an aether variant of each, not any materials involved. Gem decrafting also exempts amber entirely, you need a separate source for that. Decrafting to purification powder actually does have uses in Remix for mystic slime and (in skyblock) getting the jungle.

These other tricks might be "too well-known", but you can buy the bewitching table in hardmode and shimmer it into an alchemy table if you're in some skyblock where you're not able to loot the dungeon. You can shuffle fishing accessories from Angler, Greedy Ring ingredients, and Ankh Shield ingredients. If you're fishing up balloons for Bundle of Balloons, shimmering pufferfish into red balloons is very useful. Then there's the unsafe wall variants that are all useful for their own farms, though Lihzahrd wall is admittedly unwieldy.

The stone can also be made into stone platforms, which makes this the cheapest way to buy platforms at 15 copper each (even when ignoring the wood), plus they won't get destroyed by lava. Dynasty wood platforms cost 25 copper each and planter boxes take 1 silver each.

I will add this, I was meaning to add this because I saw this from a post by chewythebigbackdog about a month ago but I forgot.

Is amber a gem type tho? I don't speak English but IIRC when I looked it up amber was just the slimy stuff that leaks from trees so I'm not sure.

For some reason I thought transmuting evil powder into purification powder is locked in getfixedboi.

Yeah I thought these are "too well known" so I'll add them under that category but I genuinely didn't know about pufferfish transmutation idk how I missed that in wiki, would have helped me in my few previous playthroughs.

I kinda miss going nuts with dynamites in the desert but desert doesn't look ugly anymore:sigh:

Ayyyy there I am! Glad my guide’s been seen! :D
There’s actually several infinite money methods involving shimmer, but I chose to reveal that one alone because it’s the least likely to get patched and the hardest one to patch theoretically.

I plan on revealing one every time one is patched, as re-logic has patched infinite money exploits before, especially ones involving shimmer. If there’s an update where one isn’t patched I’ll reveal all of them.

Thankyou for infynyte sand/glass one!
I never really use ale/bartender , so i never even thought of this ! (I tried the same thing with merchant and various potions)
And really all this tips.
One litle idea: you can probably get dungeon brick pre-boss if you sneak in throu hoik carefully to yhe edge of the dungeon , and get some furniture, you can get infested brick to troll your friends with.

Hmmm... are there any bone stuff in dungeon pre sceletron? I cant remember. And then you would make teapod.

Also infynite sand after sceletron means infynyte medium well-fed buff.

Throu tea.

You can actually just mine dungeon bricks that are in the surface part of the dungeon(they're breakable with any pickaxe), troll friends easily.

Bone stuff uncrafting is locked before defeating skeletron, things like titan potions just won't uncraft.

I didn't know that you can craft a teapot, for some reason I thought you buy teapot from Traveling Merchant, good to know!
