Single Thread RP The Last ROLEPLAY Post Wins

The pterodactyl clears their throat, then just waits for Garundel to notice them.
Garundel just grunts, turning to look at them as well.

"What?"

<Was just checking on you...>
<...Something on your mind?>

The first thought sounded more like an aside to himself that Avari just happened to hear. Dark extends a tendril out from his cloak to inspect himself, check for signs of Coral and such.
"{.... I hope-...}"

"{...}"

"{I hope that Fluxxation gets wiped out up there. Something else is fighting him right now. Some other usage of.. Coral, it'd seem.}"

That doesn't sound like what she had planned on saying.

The Coral within Dark has also.. notably not surged at all. It seems to be lying rather dormant at the moment, perhaps an effect of Avari's apparent stress?

Garundel just grunts, turning to look at them as well.

"What?"
The pterodactyl just cocks their head a bit in slight curiosity.
"Just want to know what it is your group appears to be preparing for, is all."

<...Interesting.>
Dark looks up at the sky with his eyes flared for sight, trying to pick out the fighting.
<...You can tell that from all the way down here.>
<One would think that a node, once disconnected, would be unable to to communicate with the network...>

<...Hm. I probably don't fully grasp your kind yet...>
<...>
<Would make things...way easier if he were out of the picture...but somehow I doubt this'll do him in...>

"Just want to know what it is your group appears to be preparing for, is all."
"Dealing with another threat so that Daybreak doesn't have to."

"It'll be good practice for later."

Garundel sounds a bit grumpier than usual..

The pterodactyl nods, looking towards Draucon, who just stares gruffly back.
"...You keep to your word, we'll keep to ours. A truce."
The pterodactyl nods slowly, before getting a beep from their walkie talkie. They walk off to take the call.

Avari just remains silent.

"{Is that all?}"
<...Not a lot we can do here...>
Dark sits down by a tree, looking towards Draucon.
<...Just wanted to talk about whatever, I believe.>
<Though, guess that's hard to do considering...everything.>
<Which is fair.>
<...Still do want to practice manipulating the Coral sometime...>
<...>
<Wait, so...you're part of a race of consciousnesses that...I think inhabit the Coral.>
<So, do you like...produce more siblings of yours that I'm...killing (???) or are you guys all...ghosts?>

Garundel just crosses his arms, waiting.

"{As you said.. we are all "ghosts", the remnants of a "soul", or simply, consciousness, transferred to a near intangible state when processed through Coral.. and by processed I mean.. killed by. It nearly happened to you too.}"

"{Coral in and of itself is simply a mess of living plasma, with "sentiences" few and far between. Only those sentiences that have had a long time to figure out how to manipulate their own existences can.. manipulate the Coral around them. I am one of such few.}"

"{By using Coral as a weapon, some of these consciousnesses are.. burnt out. I assure you it's painless.. and often what most of those unable to manifest themselves want more than anything else.. to burn out.}"

"{... but some have gained missions, goals, aspirations they wish to fulfill that they hadn't the chance to before. Having something like that is enough to keep a lost soul rooted enough to figure out how to navigate their new.. bodiless state.}"

"{.. it worked for me.}"

She is silent again.

Garundel just crosses his arms, waiting.
They keep talking on the other line for a bit. Garundel might hear something about a squadron being sent along...

After a minute or two, they holster their walkie talkie again and take out their scroll, a rune in the corner glowing.
...
Upon noticing Garundel waiting, they look back at him.
"...Eedelb saw fit for us to bring in a bit of a squadron."
"Just a little measure of ours so we can help you guys out, perhaps."
"...It's not big enough to wipe you guys out, since it's like, 3 of our own, but they should be useful for you guys."
They open up their scroll, as a portal begins forming behind them, in the forest.

"{When you're ready, I'll start you out small.}"

<...Hm. Curious...>
<...>

Dark floats to his metaphorical feet, looking towards the forest.
<Let's go practice then.>
<I'll trust Draucon is doing something important, or worth heading out to do without telling me much about it->

<<Hey. Dark. You not going to ask what we're doing?>>
<<..well, you're talking to me now, so...>>
<<Fine, what is it you're up to?>>

<<Investigating the remains of some guy with black fire who tried to kill Garundel. Badly hurt Tempor, but we managed to beat them. Tempor's fine, by the way.>>
<<...You going to need some help?>>
<<We...should be able to handle it.>>
<<...>>

<...Let's go with them?>
<Might as well practice on the field...>

Garundel looks at the now much larger group, and then at Dark sort of.. hovering nearby.

"Well now the only thing to worry about is too many injuries.."

"{... until I say you're ready.}"

"{You are playing with the power to trap someone outside of their own body against their will.. it is a punishment fit for.. only a select few, and.. he.. has made millions endure it.}"

"{.. do you understand?}"

She sounds.. definitely angry.

"{Go with Garundel if you'd like, but you will not be using Coral until I've seen what I need to see.}"

Evi quickly turns to look at Garundel, sort of scrambling awkwardly as if he was falling asleep.
"Wh-wha?"
"Why don't you tag along? I doubt any of us even really know who you are since I sure as hell don't."

His tone doesn't seem to indicate much of a choice..

<Sorry. I...hadn't considered that as much as I should.>

<<...Take care of yourself then, Draucon. I have things I need to take care of.>>

<<..See you.>>

<...He's gruff. And, well. You remember he wouldn't understand the need for secrecy.>
<We're a bit at odds sometimes, but..when it comes down to the wire, we have each others' back. He wouldn't allow anyone to die on his watch.>
<...Anyway. Let's practice this Coral-mancy in a safer environment then?>

Dark turns around to start heading into the forest.
<Think a small clearing should suit our purposes, right?>
<At least I won't have too much of a hard time avoiding hitting any of the local fauna.>

Garundel looks at the now much larger group, and then at Dark sort of.. hovering nearby.

"Well now the only thing to worry about is too many injuries.."
"...A fair few of us know healing magic, fortunately. Not an uncommon utility."
"Anyway..."

The pterodactyl steps aside to look to the portal as a familiar ant person walks through, railgun 50% larger than they are tall slung on their back.
Sarah just looks around at everyone. And Draucon meets her look, arms crossed.
"...Sarah."
"...Draucon."
Sarah nods in respect. Draucon doesn't return the gesture.
"...Quite the group we have here. Don't think our scouts missed anyone, at least."
Eve has no idea what's going on but she's just standing around nearby, watching. Pol is still sleeping.

There’s a sigh, or something akin to it, from Avari.

“{Since no apparently doesn’t mean no to you..}”

“{Sure, find a clearing.}”

He just grunts.

Garundel “looks” her over.

“I take it you were part of the party that killed Zarenth?”

“Well done, it would be an honor to have you help with a.. slightly more pressing threat.”

Dark slows down to a stop.
<...>
<I'd uh. Assumed you meant "no using coral... until I learned"...>
<...>
<Sorry for assuming.>

He just grunts.

Garundel “looks” her over.

Sarah takes a second to think, then nods.
"Pretty much.”
“…I mostly dealt with a big helicopter before getting…knocked out of the fight. Assuming Zarenth to be the leader of the assault force…he had to be handled by someone else.”

Draucon raises an eyebrow, but says nothing.
<...Carl, perhaps?>

(Any reply to this?)
(was going to get to that, sorry)

"...Ah, I assume the violent kind of "visit" then?"
"If it comes to it.. which we can assume it will, as it always does.."

"{Hmm..}"

"{I suppose there's no harm in at least teaching you to channel it directionally for now.. on the condition you don't use said knowledge on anyone besides machines for the time being, is this clear?}"

"A little thing like you taking on a Blade-class aircraft? Well done."

He turns to the group now.

"Shall we go?"

<...Considering we aren't going to be fighting Daybreak anytime soon, and Fluxxation's forces are the main problem, that sounds good with me.>
<...Anything else you want me to be aware of?>

"A little thing like you taking on a Blade-class aircraft? Well done."
"Thank you."

He turns to the group now.

"Shall we go?"
Draucon shrugs.
"Been ready; so, sure."

Sarah glances back towards the portal, exchanging a look with the pterodactyl, before looking at Garundel.
"...Seems the others need a second to get through."
Sarah then looks pointedly at the pterodactyl again.
"You tell the others I'll be busy. Seems this party's got a problem on their hands. If they want to follow, that's fine, though I'd feel better with at least one of us back here to keep an eye on things."
The pterodactyl nods slowly, as Sarah checks her sling, holding 3 canisters of a certain white liquid.

She then looks to Garundel.
"...Ready when you are, mr..."
"...Ferret...person...?"

<...Considering we aren't going to be fighting Daybreak anytime soon, and Fluxxation's forces are the main problem, that sounds good with me.>

"{Just.. try not to be too showy with it, Fluxxation tends to target those with an affinity for Coral given how much they can do against machines with sufficient knowledge.}"

"{That's all.}"

"Father. Father Garundel."

"You can use my full title, thank you very much."

He really does seem a bit angry.. which is justified given his circumstances.

<Noted.>
<...Maybe we should find someplace where he can't watch from above either then...>

Dark gets moving, feeling around for a good, secluded place to practice.

"Father. Father Garundel."

"You can use my full title, thank you very much."

He really does seem a bit angry.. which is justified given his circumstances.
"...Father Garundel then."
Sarah tilts her head slightly, but doesn't seem to care.
"...Well. Lead the way, leader."
Draucon shoots her a glare, as Draucon looks over at the blood trail, looking in the direction it leads, expecting Garundel to lead them that way.

Eve awkwardly starts flying, a bit unused to Pol being on her shoulder while she flies.
