Single Thread RP The Last ROLEPLAY Post Wins

The outburst of Coral seems to be timed wrong, a huge burst coming up diagonally from Dark's back, shooting him towards the ground pretty rapidly before the Coral fizzles out.

Avari sighs audibly.

"{Again.}"
Dark nods...to nothing in particular in acknowledgement. Probably more for formality's sake?

Dark gets up, readying himself, waiting for the familiar feeling of warmth...
...And once it comes, he times it virtually perfectly. Probably a fluke, but not bad for a second try, using the burst of coral to send himself towards a tree. He learns quickly.

Due to their delay, Lightning would push past them to enter behind Sarah, stopping just next to the door where she is out of the way to also somewhat take in the room, looking around for anything of note and scanning for any threats. (D20: 11)
Draucon curses softly, annoyed.
<Rude.>

And the lady is equally cautious while looking at Sarah, backing up slightly as she approaches.

The corpse is wearing a black shirt of some sort, much of it torn except for a bit across one shoulder and the stomach, their long pants bearing several gashes and scrapes as well.

Seraph just takes a few steps back, raising his hands defensively.

The cabin seems simple, one medium sized, low ceiling room with a fireplace and chimney on the left wall, two chairs and a in the rough middle of the room, a little tub of water and a ruined mirror in the back right, next to a small closet of sorts, a rough countertop with some rusted and old tools on the right wall, and a dirty old bed in the back.

Father Garundel enters behind Lightning, a bit annoyed at being shoved around.
Draucon follows as well, visibly miffed.

After a few moments, the feline-featured woman clears her throat, looking into the dimly lit closet where the corpse was tossed.

"That your friend?"

Garundel speaks up.

"Depends, can you pull them out so we can all see?"

The woman stands in silence for a moment before going over to the person's legs, grabbing them by the boots and dragging them out into the dim, natural light of the cabin.

It's the Iudex, one arm still missing, still worn from battle, and with a crossbow bolt firmly lodged through the front of his head, his eyes open and crossed upwards.

"... No. That isn't a friend."
"...Enemy, I presume."
"Yep."
Sarah crosses her arms. "...well, we've confirmed he's dead then."
Sarah turns around, meeting Garundel in the eye...scars.
"...So what now?"
...She's taken slightly aback by the lack of eyes, but other than a flicker of surprise on her face, she doesn't react much.

Eve, meanwhile, nervously heads in to sort of stick near Draucon; more hiding behind him, but still.

Lightning meanwhile would simply stand guard looking... more than a little cocky, while Evi instead would stand outside, sort of keeping an eye out around the area while waiting for everyone else to file in.

"{That was.. perfect, really.}"

"{Well.. now I'd like for you to try it whilst..}"

Dark's vision flickers violently crimson for a moment, likely accompanied by a sharp, brief pain in his head.

"{I help you envision some enemies. Try weaving past some of their faster attacks using Coral to boost directionally.}"

With a weird distorting to his vision, Xylith seems to appear before Dark, only about 20 feet away, railgun arm raised and charging.

He seems to slowly lower it as the charging reaches its climax.

"{Go.}"

"Xylith" fires his railgun, a huge blazing bolt ripping towards Dark. (10)

Garundel seems to have some uncanny ability to sense the little things, as a brief smirk shines across his face, gone a moment later.

"Since The Iudex has been confirmed dead, our only other goal is Eileen now."

Still very much on edge, the woman speaks up.

"Looking for a strange figure?"

Garundel looks to her.

"..yes? Have you happened to have seen a likely.. rotting person who looks somewhat like me?"

The woman nods, still looking uncomfortable.

"Yes.. went deeper into the mountains."

"Did she now.."

Garundel raises a hand, slowly stroking his thin goatee..

Lightning meanwhile would simply stand guard looking... more than a little cocky, while Evi instead would stand outside, sort of keeping an eye out around the area while waiting for everyone else to file in.
Seraph is just standing awkwardly and shamefully outside.. likely glancing from time to time at Evi, looking away any time Evi glances at him..

Dark takes a deep breath, surging to the right of the bolt using a coral boost as instructed. (D20: 17 + 2 = 19).

<Hm..so, an alternative to Accelerate...>
<Time it well and create blasts of Coral after it builds up...>
<That makes sense...>

Sarah glances around for a backdoor in the hut.
"...Would you be willing to show the way?"

Seraph is just standing awkwardly and shamefully outside.. likely glancing from time to time at Evi, looking away any time Evi glances at him..
Pol glances back at them, deciding to fly out to check on Seraph.
"...Um. Hi...!"

"Oh and uh, I don't suppose you happen to have a name? As I mean most people do and it sounds better to say "oh it's so and so's house" than it is to say "oh it's the house we barged into ready to kill everyone inside," you know?"

Evi seems to notice Pol going to speak to Seraph, and thus decides against speaking up.

“{Not bad at all..}”

“Xylith” then leans forwards, a small array of missiles extending from both shoulders before three little missiles fire towards Dark, loosely homing. (12,10,6)

Sarah glances around for a backdoor in the hut.
"...Would you be willing to show the way?"
The woman just shrugs her shoulders and then nods once, grabbing some sort of weathered crossbow from the table, loading it across her back.

Pol glances back at them, deciding to fly out to check on Seraph.
"...Um. Hi...!"
“Hey…”

He sounds dejected..

The woman just stares utterly confused for about 10 seconds.

“Mae.”

She then continues towards her door, walking out after squeezing by everyone, pointing further up the mountain..

“{Not bad at all..}”

Two missiles land as Dark mistimes the boosts, with him instinctively blocking with his reflexive shield, though he does dodge one well. He also winces from the coral self damage resulting, but regenerates off the damage with a quick flash of his eyes, trying to be careful not to cause more explosions in him.
(D20: 6 - 2 = 4, 18 + 2 = 20, 7 - 2 = 5)

“Hey…”

He sounds dejected..
Pol tilts her head.
"...You sound sad."

Without much of a delay, "Xylith" boosts forwards, his axe forming in his hand as he cleaves down in an overhead slam towards Dark. (12)
Pol tilts her head.
"...You sound sad."
Seraph finally looks at her.

"I just.. don't think I'm used to working with other people yet.. I bet they think I'm weird.."

He stops abruptly as Mae comes outside, staring at her as she stares confusedly back.

Draucon moves out of the way, confused, while Sarah curtly follows behind Mae, silent.
Mae walks for a few seconds before turning and stopping, crossing her arms, seemingly waiting for the group to fall in behind her.

The wind is sharp and frigid, just barely into "annoying" territory.

Father Garundel calmly walks out, quickly walking forwards so that he ends up near the front of the group.

After a moment, Seraph finally begins moving too, making his way to the back of the group.

Dark readies himself, but then...completely screws up (D20: 1 - 2 = -1), accidentally blowing a moderately sized hole in his back. Though at least it seems to be more just painful, Dark getting "slammed" by the illusory "Xylith".
Dark pants a bit, but even his mind is silent as his eyes flash again, glowing a bit to help assist with the regeneration...

Seems like he's focusing...

"...I-I think you're cool though!"

Draucon and Sarah wait for the group to get moving.

"{Just goes to show that you're still far from perfect.}"

The illusion of Xylith then boosts into the air with a thruster assisted leap, looking down at Dark from a few dozen feet up before extending both arms, head held triumphant. Every single missile salvo across his body fires, the missiles homing in heavily on Dark. (1,5,7,12,12,11)

Pol follows.
"...I-I think you're cool though!"
Seraph looks up at Pol.

"Oh.. thanks."

Seraph looks up at Pol.

"Oh.. thanks."
"Um...you're welcome!"
Pol lands on their shoulder, nervously trying a comforting smile, while Eve sticks by Draucon's side.
"W-We're all weird anyway. That's ok, because all my parents are uh...kinda weird (?) too! And they're great people as well...!"

The burning feeling in Dark's inside begins to amplify, his vision tinting red.

The illusory Xylith flickers a bit, distorting slightly as he conjures his axe again, cutting his thrusters as he falls towards Dark. (5)

"{Hit him.}"

Dark's vision is now swimming with red lines, loud, resounding clicks and whines echoing loudly throughout his mind, disorienting, distracting..

(+5 to the next attack, -5 to the next defense.)

<Roger.>

Dark boosts to the right, taking a deep breath, before extending out a tendril at Xylith's face, taking aim at him and a tree's canopy behind "Xylith's" head.
(D20: 12 - 5 = 7, 3 + 5 = 8)

"Well then, I guess it's good to know I'm not alone in being weird at least.."
"Draucon, for example!"
Draucon, on hearing this, stops, glaring at Pol.
"...It's true though!"
Draucon keeps glaring, before looking away and sighing loudly, going back to focusing on the task at hand.

Lightning and Evi would currently just be following with the group, Lightning following near Sarah, seemingly a bit bored, while Evi is following more at the back, looking a bit out of place and awkward due to not having much to do or say at the moment.

The coral surges, the limb beginning to expand.

"Xylith" finally comes within range, axe raised, swinging down with the force of his fall..

Mae looks around a bit, crimson eyes scrutinizing the group before..

The bot has officially given up, and is just sadly sitting down by the tree.
She makes note of the little robot, sitting still against the tree.

She just points at it.

Garundel turns, trying to see what she's pointing at.

"Huh..?"

The coral surges, the limb beginning to expand.

"Xylith" finally comes within range, axe raised, swinging down with the force of his fall..
Dark fires off a coral beam, probably hitting a tree canopy.

Seraph just doesn't say anything, awkwardly avoiding eye contact.
Pol just sort of stays on their shoulder, nestled there.
She pats their shoulder in an attempt to be reassuring.

Mae looks around a bit, crimson eyes scrutinizing the group before..
Sarah glances at them, practically feeling her gaze...

She makes note of the little robot, sitting still against the tree.

She just points at it.

Garundel turns, trying to see what she's pointing at.

"Huh..?"
Sarah is first to check on it.
