How can the Steampunker sell the red/purple stuff if...

ShadowTiger

Duke Fishron
So merchants can sell things that are biome-specific. The Steampunker sells the Corruption / Crimson purple/red gel stuff for the Clentaminator.

But if you build a house in the Crimson or Corruption, you can't live there.

So... am I missing something here? o_O

You can live in the corruption, you just need a lot of sunflowers nearby to cancel it's effects.

http://terraria.wiki.gg/House
A House is considered corrupted based on its "Corruption rating," which calculates all tiles in a 45-block "radius" around the house; a house's Corruption rating must be 250 or less. This is about half the blocks in the radius.

  • Each tile of Ebonstone, Ebonsand, and Corrupted vines & plants increases a House's Corruption rating by 1. Conversely, each sunflower reduces a House's Corruption Rating by 5.
  • Each tile of Hallowed grass, Pearlsand, and Hallowed plants reduces the rating by 1.

Red and Purple solutions are sold on Blood Moons. The only vendor that requires being in a Corruption/Crimson biome for certain items is the Painter, and it's irritating to no end. I ended up using a King Statue, but it took ages to do (had to load a new world that was Corrupted, make houses for all the NPCs because the stupid Painter wasn't moving in, and then use the statue to send him to Corrupted land).

If you create a world with crimson, then bring in and make an artificial corruption biome, will the Steampunker sell both solutions?

If you have both Crimson and Corruption, she will only sell the world's original evil biome's solution. She only sells it on a Blood Moon. Also, be a good player and don't spread the evil biomes everywhere :dryadwink:
