How's about the Banana Bomb? [Throwable, 3 second fuse and explodes into a couple more explosive bouncy bananas after the fuse]
Perhaps a craftable upgrade once you get far enough is the Super Banana Bomb. [More exploding bananas, initial explosion is tied to the button you use to throw the thing with instead of 3 seconds, and much more bouncy]

EDIT: The Banana Bomb can be obtianed from the Merchant for about... 5 silver a bomb? 10 pink gel and [insert explosive-related but difficult to obtain for pre-hardmode item here] can be used to craft the Super Banana Bomb.

A pump action shotgun doing high damage with a slow rate of fire. Can be obtained from the arms dealer after the eye of cthulhu is defeated.
