Terraria State of the Game - December 2024

I'm not a state of the game stan but I was bored, so out of curiosity I looked back at several random SOTG threads, and nearly every SOTG thread I checked that released after 2019 (anything 2019 and older seems to just be random days), released on the last thursday of the month. It's consistent with rare exceptions so it seems more like a generally followed pattern than a strict schedule, but still a pattern.

I mean yeah, but if those rare exceptions are completely random then there's not really a point in acting like they won't happen next sotg.

btw has anyone here heard of this? Home | Skyblock Official Site the fact that terraria is getting skyblock while this is going on worries me...
I checked, and it's mostly about people trying to profit off the Skyblock name and claiming it's "the original Minecraft experience", which Terraria isn't really doing with a free update in Terraria. And even then, the worst-case scenario is it just gets renamed into another similar name. here are 2 paragraphs I found that help clear things up
When it comes to third-party content related to Skyblock, I have always supported the free use of the "Skyblock" name across the Minecraft platform. The game's collaborative nature is embodied in inspired worlds, multiplayer servers, mods, and other user-generated content. Minecraft operates within a relatively open system where community-driven innovation is encouraged. Issuing cease and desist orders to those who wished to create and share their own inspired versions of Skyblock on platforms like Planet Minecraft, or targeting competing multiplayer servers like Hypixel, would have gone against the very essence of Minecraft and its community.
My requests for the removal/name change of a "Skyblock" named world with 40,000 active players on Roblox was accepted. This was eventually changed to "Islands" and I personally communicated with the owner and expedited the process for their world to become quickly re-instated the next day.
Also, I'm hyped for the January SOTG. I have a feeling we'll get a nice teaser for the first month of 2025
