Terraria community isn't a hive mind.
I certainly didn't "ask for this" and from the looks of the replies both here and on steam announcement. There are more who didnt "ask for this"
So don't throw everyone into one bag because of some insignificant poll that probably not everyone heard about or particiapted in. Thanks.

This poll (which was about a year ago) was circulated in both here and on steam forums, as well as several other reaches of the community like the subreddit and various terraria related discords.
I very vividly remember wanting them to split the update myself back then, and the disagreement with me was unanimous everywhere I talked about it. Like it or not, the majority of the community chose this, and frankly it doesn’t matter if you or I disagree with their decision, because the point is the developers asked for feedback, got it, and took it to heart. They did their job and are being consistent if anything.
If the community was of a different mind back then compared to now then they probably should have reassessed whether they truly wanted the update delayed or not while they had the opportunity to decide.
Getting angry at the devs feels shortsighted to me and accomplishes literally nothing. The most it could do is demotivate the devs so that they have less fun with their job, and that is a net negative for the updates’ quality and would likely delay it further.

Anyway, in short the SoTG was: 25% Spoilers and 75% Merchandises that many won't buy, pure sugar drinks and this Board Game. Now let's wait another 27 days for the next SoTG to be disappointed again. Bye Bye

Can NPCs be allowed to attack each other when they are not happy enough?

An idea. I feel like the meteor doesn’t get enough love. Especially in potion crafting. I think there should be a potion in pre hard mode which has a similar effect as the star cloak but instead of stars, its meteor. The idea has been stuck in my head for so long

I think it's important to realize a few things with Terraria as a whole, and I'll preface what I'm about to say with that I'm no game development expert.

The game runs on Microsoft XNA. Re-logic has many talented developers, but writing on a code base that had it's support dropped 11 years ago or so likely isn't a fun or quick process. There aren't tools to help develop anything new, so everything has to be made from scratch.

There is a massive amount of nuance in the game ranging from mechanics to items and how they interact with each other. You may not think it now but imagine getting an update you've been waiting for for years and it turns out to be buggy and has missing features, so you end up being disappointed and drop it with no interest. That's how I felt about the 1.2 update on Xbox years ago, and I'm sure Re-logic would like to avoid that and deliver the best product they can.

The update is coming.

To check how each item interacts with each other would be O(n^2)-complex, i. e. multiplying the items with n, makes the testing time n*n or n^2. So it will get complicated quickly to test everything before release.

I wonder if rarity will affect how the pick-up text shows up. The Amethyst Bunny's pick-up text looks different than the Rock Candy's.

Whoa, you’re right! Could also be that picking up items and crafting them has different animations but we can’t know for sure until we have more information.

Technically the latest official release timeframe is 2025 (I think) but I don't think they focus on that too much. But if it gets pushed back I mean that's just more time for the update to get better

i dunno when the update comes out either, but y’all gotta be more patient and let the devs cook the update, it’ll be way better after a long wait

i’d rather the update take a while and be high quality than be short and not good
