Not to me. Just a mention that they'll spend 2023 creating new patch without any end-date given. 🧐
It literally said it would release in 2023

Loki has just explained why that statement ended up being inaccurate, and I don't think there's much to be gained by arguing about the semantics, so probably best to move on :)

Two things here.

1. Obviously the scope has increased well beyond "just doing the Dead Cells content"... which I get the sense no one will mind in the end.
2. A pretty massively impactful negative event happened just a few months after the message you quoted... so yeah, that had and has an impact to put it mildly. Not going to apologize for that.
I know i know. My post was mostly aimed at people "gaslighting" me into thinking that there wasn't any ETA or delay when there clearly was an ETA and there was a delay that happened due to tragedy and later due to Re-Logic deciding to add more and more content to the update that was originally just Dead Cells crossover + QoL additions.

Still i was silently hoping the Dead Cells + QoL would come in Part 1 update while the additional content that the devs keep adding more and more would come in later parts. Similar like Minecraft does it for their updates for example. But oh well.

Yes no doubt it is a good news that the update will have plenty of new additions and content in the end but i do hope the 1.4.5 will release sooner than 2034 given the new content being constantly added to the update :D

EDIT:
Also i am concerned about engine limitations someone i think it was Leinfors back in the day that told me the more is added to Terraria the worse the engine handles it causing performance issues and that Terraria was reaching it's limitations already and the devs had to work around these limitations. Or something like that. What about that and the upcoming 1.4.5?

Here a comparison using a train ride to explain it to you how the 1.4.5 thing goes: Imagine you go on a train ride with the Intercity Express (ICE) from Essen to Berlin, just like the hype train goes on the road to 1.4.5. Now for Germany it is typical that trains go chaotically, especially ICE trains, just like how chaotic development of 1.4.5 can go. Your goal is Berlin and on the way the train has to stop because the police was called, comparable to a serious incident happening during development of 1.4.5. Then after that due to that many trains are clogged in Magdeburg for a festival the ICE, the ICE has to slow down to 40 km/h, analogous to how due to many events on the forums and other media Terraria is present on, many items are added, slowing the update down to keep it safe. For patience I recommend refering to tips on how the mods stay calm and do not freak out like "When comes 1.4.5???" written here.

There certainly are limits at some points, but we always make sure to take performance into account in all of this - not just for PC, but for our console and mobile friends as well.

The engine just helps with making a window, displaying sprites inside it, handling input, playing audio and stuff. Like Loki said, almost nothing in Terraria is limited by the capabilities of these foundations. On the other hand, the architecture the game builds itself can of course be limiting in some way. Like recently the 4th liquid type being the last option available in the 2 bits dedicated to them in the tile representation, and a similar story with tile paints.

It's pretty common for people to refer to Terraria's core systems/architecture as "the engine", which makes sense considering that Terraria doesn't make use of an off the shelf engine, just a framework which handles the lower level parts, like you mentioned. Arguing over semantics of engine/Framework/core systems/architecture only serves to derail the conversation, especially when it's pretty clear what people mean.

I'm late, as usual.
Congrats to Jopo and Kaz, they deserve it.
Exciting to hear the new changes all the time, maybe one day I can get a seat in the terraria dev team..!

Ah, if only I had friends and internet access to play multiplayer more often :p

I was just clarifying that this is not about XNA, since there are often people asking about switching to a different framework/engine due to these concerns :)

Have other new boss themes been confirmed? One of the best parts of this update is the new boss music imo. I think I've heard that there would be more before before but I'm not sure if it was real or not

In one of State of the Game announcements, I saw that kites can be placed and no longer require character to hold them, but I have a question about this: will the feature to hold kites still be in the game?
