Mobile Didn't there used to be a Targeting function?

I remember way back when, when Hardmode first came out, you were able to tap on enemies to target them, which made combat a bit more doable considering Mobile's odd control scheme. Is there a reason this was removed? Is this ever going to return?

The wiki also mentions it as if it still exists in the game. Is it still possible and I'm just doing it wrong? I came back to Mobile after not playing it for a very long time, so it might still exist and I just forgot how it worked.

I have never seen a feature like that. There still is an auto aim if mobs get close enough tho, hold the center of right "stick" and you'll auto shoot.
